  • By Testing restrained shrinkage, it is possible to estimating the cracking tendency of concrete such as time to cracking, tensile stress and tensile creep. In this study, tensile creep properties of concrete under restraint shrinkage were investigation through comparison of specimens that JIS and AASHTO proposed. As a results, tensile creep strains in concrete ring specimens were 15% higher than those in uniaxial specimens.

  • Concrete structures show time-dependent behavior due to creep and shrinkage of concrete and the uncertainties of creep and shrinkage are very huge. To reduce uncertainties of creep and shrinkage, it is substantially necessary to perform the long-term creep and shrinkage tests, but actual construction process doesn't allow it due to the limited time. Even though the tests are performed in laboratory, the values obtained from the tests could be different from the actual values in construction site because of the different environment between the laboratory and construction site and the model uncertainty itself. It is difficult to predict the long-term behaviors of concrete structures properly if the assumed creep coefficient obtained from Codes or the results of experiments is different from the real characteristics of concrete creep. In this study, for predicting the long-term behavior, the creep coefficients in reinforced concrete beams are estimated using creep sensitivity analysis from the measured deflections with time. And estimated creep coefficients using creep models of ACI Committee 209 and CEB-FIP MC90 are compared.

  • In this study, the creep behaviors of amorphous steel fiber-reinforced concrete were investigated. Two different types of tests were carried out to evaluate the effect of amorphous steel fibers on the creep of concrete: compressive creep test and tensile creep test. Fiber volume fractions used in the test were 0.2% and 0.4% for tensile specimens, and 0.2% and 0.3% for compressive specimens. Based on the test results, the addition of fiber volume fraction of 0.2% into concrete could significantly reduce both compressive and tensile creep.

  • This paper represents the results of experiments designed to investigate the time-dependent response of concrete and steel tube in circular concrete-filled steel tubes, as are deployed extensively in high-rise building construction. The experiments were performed for creep of concrete and CFT column specimens with three loading cases. The creep coefficient and specific creep(unit creep) obtained from the test results were used for estimating and comparing the time-dependent response of each case. From these analyses, it is show that CFT-column has many merits for long-term behavior.

  • Recently, construction technology of RC structures must be examined for creep in concrete. The factors affecting the creep prediction of concrete and the results of creep in domestic construction field were reviewed. The longer the creep test period and the higher the compressive strength, the higher the creep prediction accuracy. The higher the curing temperature, the higher the initial strength development of the concrete, but the difference in the creep coefficients increased over time. Based on the results of creep evaluation in the domestic construction field and lab. tests, a modified predictive model that complements the ACI-209 model was proposed. In the creep prediction of real members using general to high strength concrete, the test period and temperature should be considered precisely.

  • Creep Poisson's ratio reported by previous experimental studies on multiaxial creep of concrete was controversial. The Poisson's ratio is very sensitive to small experimental error that is inevitably induced, and the sensitivity may cause the controversy. It is difficulty to find out the properties on multiaxial creep of concrete. Therefore, a new approach method to analyze the test results is needed to precisely understand the properties on multiaxial creep of concrete. In this study, microplane model is used as a new approach method in analyzing the multiaxial creep test data. The six data sets extracted from the literature are fitted from regression analysis. Double-power law as a model representing volumetric and deviatoric creep evolutions on microplane is used, and six parameters in volumetric and deviatoric compliances are determined on the assumption that the volumetric and deviatoric creep strains are linearly proportional to corresponding stresses. The optimum fits give very accurate description of the test data. The Poisson's ratio calculated from the optimum fits varies with time and does not depends on the stress states, namely, uniaxial, biaxial, and triaxial stress states. Regression analysis is also performed on the assumption that the Poisson's ratio remains constant with titre. The constant Poisson's ratio can be use in practice without serious error.

  • Performance degradation of Ultra High Strength Concrete occurs more than that of normal strength concrete at high temperature. Thus, strain of concrete subjected to high temperature and loading is one of the core assessment items for evaluating performance of structures. Therefore, in this study, creep of ultra high strength concrete subjected to various temperature conditions and 25%, 40% loading was evaluated. As the results, Creep strain increased with increase of temperature and loading. Creep strain of concrete at high temperature is influenced by loading.

  • The creep strain of the compression zone of concrete beams subjected to cyclic loading should be a significant factor in increasing strain and deflections. An analytical model which is similar to a previous one is presented to predict the increase in cyclic creep strain and the damage using the properties of the constituent materials: concrete and steel. The analytical expressions are compared with our experimental data. The effect of concrete-creep is accounted by the term En, Icr,n, and Mcr,n. In this study, it is proved that cyclic creep exponents 'n' in Cyclic Creep Model, according to the parameters -strength, range of stress- have the various values. It is hoped that with the availability of more experimental data and better understanding of some of the complex behavior, the model could be further improved.

  • Quasi-instanteneously performed creep loading is probably one way to seperate the viscous and the plastic creep from the elastic deformation. For mature concrete no differences seem to exist depending on whether the loading is rapidly applied or not. At early age the plastic deformations probably dominate the deformation. A series of test have been done to measure the quasi-instanteneous deformation in concrete specimens according to loading durations and concrete ages. The present study indicates that even very short-term loading contains creep deformation. As concrete is younger and load duration is longer, the proportion of creep deformation in quasi-instanteneous deformation is increased.
