This paper summarizes the design and construction of the roof canopy structure for the SEOUL 2002 World Cup Main Stadium with a design inspired by Korean traditional beauty emphasizing images of the Pangpae kite. The stadium has also been designed for maximization of its post-World Cup utility to be used on as every basis by the citizens. The stadium canopy is a unique spatial network of truss members with a tensile membrane roof suspended from 16 masts. The canopy covers 40,950 ㎡. which is clad with a pre-stressed tensile membrane of PTFE coated fiberglass fabric and the glass.

A newly-devised Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) reagents, such as diisobutylacetoxyalanes and diisobutylmethanesulfonylalanes, achieved a clean conversion of unsymmetrical epoxides to the corresponding less substituted alcohols. This review covers the recent developments for such a regiospecific ring-opening reaction of epoxides.

Motion segmentation is a fundamental technique for analysing image sequences of real scenes. A process of identifying moving objects from data is a typical task in many computer vision applications. In this paper, we propose motion segmentation that generally consists from background subtraction and foreground pixel segmentation. The Approximated Median Filter(AMF) was chosen to perform background modeling. Motion segmentation in this paper covers RGB video data.

This paper covers feature extraction for automatic handwritten signature verification. Several major feature selection techniques are investigated from a practical perspective to realise an optimal signature verification system, and customised feature set selection based on set-on-set distance measurement is presented. The experimental results have proved the proposed methods to be efficient, offering considerably improved verification performance compared to conventional methods. Also, they dramatically reduce the processing complexity in the verification system.

Income inequality in Korea has increased after the economic crisis, and the main reason for the widening of income distribution is due to the increase of the unemployed when analyzed using the Urban Household Report(UHR). However, income inequality has not decreased although the rate of unemployment decreased after 2000. Further data bases for income-related statistics are necessary to examine the exact causes of changing income inequality as a whole since the UHR covers only statistics on urban employees' wage and salary in Korea.

We show that if X is a space such that ${\beta}QF(X)=QF({\beta}X)$ and each stable $Z(X)^{\sharp}$-ultrafilter has the countable intersection property, then there is a homeomorphism $h_X:vQF(X){\rightarrow}QF(vX)$ with $r_X={\Phi}_{vX}{\circ}h_X$. Moreover, if ${\beta}QF(X)=QF({\beta}X)$ and $vE(X)=E(vX)$ or $v{\Lambda}(X)={\Lambda}(vX)$, then $vQF(X)=QF(vX)$.

A $Pd(OAc)_2/(o-MeOPh)_3P$ system has been developed for the catalytic Suzuki coupling of aryl bromides with arylboronic acids. Our catalyst system covers a broad spectrum of commonly available arylboronic acids and aryl bromides to provide biaryls in very good yields. The catalyst system works very well in the synthesis of sterically hindered biaryls.

Mudstone which is in po-hang area, made from bedrock under a tropical ocean environment, The mudstone has a tendency to be weathered and swelled when it is exposed to the atmosphere. In addition the clay material on the surface shows highly compressive property that causes a lot of engineers problem during embanking and cutting. This report covers alternative methods to solve those problems by understanding engineering characteristics of the site through precise filed investigations and predicting the problems during construction.
