The trend of an increasing demand for a high-quality user experience, coupled with a shortage of radio resources, has necessitated more advanced wireless techniques to cooperatively achieve the required quality-of-experience enhancement. In this study, we investigate the critical problem of rate splitting in heterogeneous cellular networks, where concurrent transmission, for instance, the coordinated multipoint transmission and reception of LTE-A systems, shows promise for improvement of network-wide capacity and the user experience. Unlike most current studies, which only deal with spectral efficiency enhancement, we implement an optimal rate splitting strategy to improve both spectral efficiency and energy efficiency by exploring and exploiting cooperation diversity. First, we introduce the motivation for our proposed algorithm, and then employ the typical cooperative bargaining game to formulate the problem. Next, we derive the best response function by analyzing the dual problem of the defined primal problem. The existence and uniqueness of the proposed cooperative bargaining equilibrium are proved, and more importantly, a distributed algorithm is designed to approach the optimal unique solution under mild conditions. Finally, numerical results show a performance improvement for our proposed distributed cooperative rate splitting algorithm.
The fundamental aim of this paper is to present a solution algorithm to achieve cooperative contour controlling, under joint acceleration constraint with maximum cooperative speed. Usually, the specifications like maximum velocity of cooperative trajectory are determined by the application itself. In resolving the cooperative trajectory into two complementary trajectories, an optimum task resolving strategy is employed so that the task assignment for each robot is fair under the joint acceleration constraint. The proposed algorithm of being an off-line technique, this could be effectively and conveniently extended to the existing servo control systems irrespective of the computational power of the controller implemented. Further, neither a change in hardware setup nor considerable reconfiguration of the existing system is required in adopting this technique. A simulation study has been carried out to verify that the proposed method can be realized in the generation of complementary trajectories so that they could meet the stipulated constraints in simultaneous maneuvering.
In this paper, the optimal power control problem in a cooperative relay network is investigated and a new power control scheme is proposed based on a non-cooperative differential game. Optimal power allocated to each node for a relay is formulated using the Nash equilibrium in this paper, considering both the throughput and energy efficiency together. It is proved that the non-cooperative differential game algorithm is applicable and the optimal power level can be achieved.
When a humanoid robot pushes an object with its force, it is essential to adequately control its posture so as to maximize the surplus torque far all joints. For such purpose, this study proposes a method to find an optimal posture of a humanoid robot using a genetic algorithm in such a way that the surplus torque for all joints is maximized. In this study, pushing motion of an 18-DOF humanoid robot is considered. When the robot takes a cooperative motion to push an object, the palms and soles are assumed to be fixed at the object and ground respectively, and are subjected to sense the reaction force from the object and the ground. Then, the torques for all joints are calculated and reflected to fitness function of the genetic algorithm. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, a number of simulations with different fitness functions are carried out. The simulation result shows that the proposed method can be adopted to find optimized posture in cooperative motion of a humanoid robot.
Even if only two ships are encountered, a collision may occur due to the mistaken judgment of the positional relationship. In other words, if an officer does not know a target ship's intention, there is always a risk of collision. In this paper, the experiments are conducted to investigate how the intention affects the action of collision avoidance in cooperative and non-cooperative situations. In non-cooperative situation, each ship chooses a course that minimizes costs based on the current situation. That is, it always performs a selfish selection. In a cooperative situation, the information is exchanged with a target ship and a course is selected based on this information. Each ship uses the Distributed Stochastic Search Algorithm so that a next-intended course can be selected by a certain probability and determines the course. In the experimental method, four virtual ships are set up to analyze the action of collision avoidance. Then, using the actual AIS data of eight ships in the strait of Dover, I compared and analyzed the action of collision avoidance in cooperative and non-cooperative situations. As a result of the experiment, the ships showed smooth trajectories in the cooperative situation, but the ship in the non-cooperative situation made frequent big changes to avoid a collision. In the case of the experiment using four ships, there was no collision in the cooperative situation regardless of the size of the safety domain, but a collision occurred between the ships when the size of the safety domain increased in cases of non-cooperation. In the case of experiments using eight ships, it was found that there are optimal parameters for collision avoidance. Also, it was possible to grasp the variation of the sailing distance and the costs according to the combination of the parameters, and it was confirmed that the setting of the parameters can have a great influence on collision avoidance among ships.
problem of pedestrian localization using mobile nodes containing impulse radio ultra wideband (IR-UWB) is considered. IEEE 802.15.4a-based IR-UWB can achieve accurate ranging. However, the coverage is as short as 30 m, owing to the restricted transmit power. This factor may cause a poor geometric relationship among the mobile nodes and anchor nodes in certain environments. To localize a group of pedestrians accurately, an enhanced cooperative localization method is proposed. We describe a sequential algorithm and define problems that may occur in the implementation of the algorithm. To solve these problems, a batch algorithm is proposed. The batch algorithm can be carried out after performing the sequential algorithm to linearize the nonlinear range equation. When a sequential algorithm cannot be performed due to a poor geometric relationship among nodes, a batch algorithm can be carried out directly. Herein, Monte Carlo simulations are presented to illustrate the proposed method and verify its performance.
