Development and validation of the Korean Game Addiction Scale for Children and Adolescents (한국형 아동/청소년 게임 중독 척도의 개발 및 타당화)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and validate Korean Game Addiction Scale for children and adolescents. Data from a representative sample of 3,115 children and adolescents residing in Korea were analyzed to identify the factor structure and reliability of the scale. In addition, criterion-related evidence of validity (concurrent and convergent) was examined. Consistent with our theoretical assumptions, the Korean Game Addiction Scale revealed a stable higher order factor structure (second order-one factor, first order-seven factors), and the reliability of the scale was high (average Cronbach's alpha = .84, six week test-retest reliability = .75). The scale was also showed high levels of concurrent and convergent validity. Implications of the findings and directions for future research on game addiction are discussed.

A Study on the Developing Core competencies of Chinese Higher Education in terms of Education for Sustainable Development (지속가능발전교육의 관점에서 본 중국 고등 교육의 핵심 역량 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In the 21st century, as the emergence of the age of creative economy is expected, interest in the cultivation of creative talents required in society around the world is newly rising. Sustainable development education should not be limited to school education, but should be promoted and supported at all social education sites for the purpose of lifelong education. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to consider the relationship between the possibility of formal and informal learning and the development of capacity in higher education. Exploratory and qualitative research based on intensive groups was designed using several groups of formal and informal learning settings. In China, the creation of a creative economy is set as a major national policy direction for the new government. What is required for talented people in the creative economy era and how to educate them is becoming a major policy issue. The development of core competencies requires multiple contexts based on cognitive non-cognitive disposition. By combining the formal and informal learning environment within higher education for the purpose of a new learning culture, it can provide a variety of situations and improve competency development. While this study can identify aspects of formal and informal learning settings, the interdependencies between them are still difficult to grasp. However, practical implications can be seen clearly. In other words, based on the results, you can point out key aspects of competency acquisition that can be a key element in the higher education environment. As a result, this study analyzed implications for formal and informal learning environments for new ways of developing core competencies in higher education.

The relationship between payment of policy on children disabilities(cash, voucher) and satisfaction of parents (장애아동급여정책(현금, 바우처)과 부모만족도와의 관계)

  • The number of people with disabilities is increasing recently in Korea, in particular the proportion of children with disabilities is approximately above 5%. While there are many studies focusing on satisfaction of payment policy due to increased concern about children with disabilities, the studies on comparison and the effect factor of user satisfaction depending on the cash and voucher are not sufficient. Based on the need to recognize and research this issue, the ultimate goal of this study is to lead to implications for the payment policy by investigating user satisfaction depending on the type of payment of policy on children with disabilities. The result that analyzes the effect of general characteristics on user satisfaction shows that in case of in-cash, children and the degree of disability affect user satisfaction. In the case of voucher, the gender of parents, the degree of disability and the average income affect it. The implication of this study suggests practical implication and policy implication. Implications of the study is that provide a customized service considering general characteristics. Second, It needs to extend the range of amount of payment of in-cash. Third, extend and pay the amount of in-cash, and the service of voucher. Fourth, provide low-income group(including public aid recipients and near poverty group) with voucher to ease financial burden.

Exploratory Study on the Possibilities of Convergence with Music in Writing Classes (글쓰기 수업에서 음악과의 융합 가능성에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • This is an exploratory study based on the literature reviews which examined the possibilities and necessities of multimodal writing curriculum for liberal education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing research results which utilized the teaching methods associating music and writing, and to find the educational implications, and finally in terms of writing education, to suggest the possibilities of writing classes' convergent forms with music extracted from the results of the existing studies. Those studies were categorized to four patterns: WAC, effects of therapy, materials for writing, and new literacy. Based on Meyrowitz's perspective, firstly music can be utilized as a circumstance, which means a teacher can indirectly take the emotional, reminding, and healing effects of background musics. Secondly, music can play an important role of materials in thinking and writing, which is the most generally utilized pattern today. The effects are found in all of affective, cognitive, and strategic domains by utilizing music as a sort of reading materials. Thirdly, the convergent writing of music and narrative is suggested. Music is an independent language that can interact with narrative and construct text meanings in this kind of writing classes. These three dimensions of convergence have different perspectives, but sometimes occur at a same time or as a connected pattern. This study proposes that writing teachers need to improve their competence in music as well and to have professional concerns and efforts to develop their convergent writing teaching skills with music for these classes. Finally, this study stresses that team teaching can be an alternative for them.

An analysis on the research trend of teaching and learning methods of informatics education in Korea (정보 교육의 교수·학습 방법에 대한 국내 연구 동향 분석)

  • The 2015 revised educational curricula focused on creative and convergent student education, so the importance of informatics education is arising along with emphases on its teaching and learning methods. This study has analyzed the research trend of teaching and learning methods and suggested their implications by selecting 179 studies of same keyword searching from 2000 to the present years and classifying them into 16 categories. This analysis showed that problem based learning was the most researched topic on these subjects, while unplugged learning, Creative Problem Solving model and peer teaching were among the actively studied topics. In the content domain of informatics curriculum, the problem solution and programming was most researched. This study is expected to suggest implications for not only studying informatics education research but also selecting teaching and learning methods in the field of class for teachers.

Measuring Sport Tourist Motivation: Implications for Sport Tourism Distribution

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to develop a motivation scale for participation sport tourism and to produce implications of potential use of MSPST for sport tourism distribution emphasizing the needs of sport tourists and the functions required to satisfy those needs. Research design, data, and methodology - The Motivation Scale for Participation Sport Tourism (MSPST) was developed in three stages. A literature review generated 8 dimensions with 42-items in the first stage. Second, an expert review phase refined the initial item pool, which resulted in 35 items. Result - Exploratory factor analysis was employed to produce an 8-factor, 28 item pool. The reduced version was confirmed via structural equation modeling, indicating an acceptable model of fit. The final MSPST consisted of 8 dimensions of motivation, including friendship, family, solitude, challenges, intrinsic, achievement, nature, and competition. Conclusions - The MSPST is a valid and reliable scale of tourists' motives for participating in sports. The results supported the suggested measures of motives associated with participation sport tourism regarding construct, convergent and discriminant validity. A body of knowledge about motives provides insights for policy-makers seeking to support distributional industries for sport tourism and finally to promote economy on both regional and national levels.

MNC Subsidiary's Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Transfer: Evidence from MNC Subsidiaries in South Korea

  • Purpose - This paper attempted to verify the process by which a multinational corporation (MNC)'s subsidiary practices entrepreneurship to create effective knowledge (KC) in the local market. We have looked at whether subsidiary entrepreneurship (SENT) has a moderation effect in creating knowledge for the local market when a subsidiary has been given autonomy (AUT) from the headquarters (HQ). We also argue that when a subsidiary creates meaningful knowledge, the effect of the increased status by the HQ within the MNC network position (NP) has an indirect effect on whether knowledge is transferred to other overseas subsidiaries (KTO). Design/methodology - This paper used a structural equation model (SEM) of 282 effective foreign companies invested in Korea. To test the hypothesis about the process of SENT on KTO, descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability, convergent and discriminant validities, and common method bias were analyzed using STATA. In addition, the moderation effect was verified along with SEM. The moderation effect of AUT on SENT and KC was presented graphically by confirming \mathrm{\pm1} standard deviation of AUT for the main effect. Findings - Our findings are as follows. First, while the hypothesis about the direct effect of SENT and KC on KTO was not supported, all other hypotheses were supported. Second, both the AUT and moderating effect and the indirect effect of NP were significant. In the conclusion, these findings are discussed in relation to its various theoretical and practical implications. Originality/value - This study attempted to contribute to the knowledge creation theory of MNC by contemplating how subsidiaries can move away from HQ and grow in the local market. Although there is still a shortage of foreign investment in the Korean market, our practical implications offer guidance for how current subsidiaries can develop more than other overseas subsidiaries.

Analysis of Elementary Students' Visualization Process of Creative Problem Solving in Science (초등학생들의 창의적 과학 문제 해결 과정에서 나타나는 시각화 활동 분석)

  • Cultivating creativity is one of the goals in science education. Previous studies report that students use visualization while they solve the creative science problem and it looks helpful to make them think more. For this study three $6^{th}$ grade students were selected in the consideration of pre-test through the qualitative think-aloud method. The results show that even though students have many ideas in planning stage in problem solving, they appeared to visualize familiar and empirical ideas at first. So if teachers want to watch another creative ideas, they tended to give enough time to visualize many ideas. Students drew lines, circles, "X"marks to select or remove information during their problem solving works. They said these marks seem to be useful to understand question. However, removal marks sometimes turn out to block another chance to re-think. Also students did not have a chance to reflect what they did. It means that they lose the chance to do convergent thinking. The implications of this study include the importance of students' visualization works to facilitate their creative ideas and support their problem solving strategies. In this study, we discuss the meaningful messages for teachers who construct science classroom for creativity.

Exploring Factors Influencing Usage Intention of Chatbot - Chatbot in Financial Service (챗봇 사용 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 탐색 - 금융 서비스에서의 챗봇)

  • Purpose: Chatbots are widely diffusing across various industries to substitute human manpower in the industry. However as researchers only develop technology that is applied to chatbot, the diffusion is slow in progress. The purpose of this study is to propose useful implications to accelerate diffusion of chatbots across industries by analyzing the perception of customers. To achieve the research purpose this study analyzes causal effect relationship between characteristics of chatbot character, service quality, individual difference, and intention to use chatbot. Methods: This study developed a survey that contains various questionnaires for each construct based on literature review. Data collected through survey was tested for convergent validity and discriminant validity and further analyzed the relationship using PLS-SEM method to verify hypotheses. Results: Trustworthiness of the chatbot character, ease of use, application design, responsiveness, customization, assurance, inertia, and previous experience have significant influence on forming user satisfaction, consumer trust, and intention to use. The others, likability, appropriateness, technology anxiety, and need for interaction were not significant in this research. Conclusion: Although the constructs of the research model was significant in previous literatures, some do not have significant effect on intention to use chatbots. Based on the results, chatbot managers will be able to develop chatbot systems which are more appealing to users and more academic researchers will focus on analyzing user perception and intention.

The Impact of Technology Adoption on Organizational Productivity

  • Purpose: This research investigates the impact of technology adoption on organisation productivity. The framework has three independent variables viz. technological change, information technology (IT) infrastructure, and IT knowledge management and one dependent variable as organisational productivity. Research design, data and methodology: An explanatory research design with a quantitative research method was employed, and data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire using online as well as an offline survey. The sample consisted of 300 IT managers and senior-level executives (production as well as service team) in leading IT companies in Malaysia selected using snowball sampling. Normality and reliability assessment was performed in the first stage utilising SPSS 22, and Confirmatory Factory Analysis (CFA) was performed with maximum likelihood estimation to assess the internal consistency, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. Finally, Structural Equation Model (SEM) and path analysis are conducted using AMOS 22. Results: The research findings demonstrated that technological change and IT infrastructure positively and significantly impact the organisation's productivity while IT knowledge management has significant but negative impact on organizational productivity of IT companies in Malaysia. Conclusion: The research concludes that all three factors plays important role in deciding organizational producvity. Recommendations, implications, limitations and future research avenues are discussed.
