Generation of 5-axis NC Data for Machining Turbine Blades by Controlling the Heel Angle (Heel angle 조정에 의한 터빈 블레이드의 5축 NC가공 데이터 생성)

  • In general, turbine blades are usually machined on 5-axis NC machine. The 5-axis machining of sculptured surface offers many advantages over 3-axis machining including the faster material-removal rates and an improved surface finish. But it is difficult and time-consuming to generated interference-free 5-axis tool path. This paper describes research on the algorithm for generation of an interference-free 5-axis NC data for machining turbine blades. The approach, using the section profile derived from the intersection of cutting planes with a triangulated-surface approximation, includes (1) CL-data generation by detecting an interference-free heel angle (2) the calculation method for finding a adaptive feed-rate value, and (3) the inverse kinematics depending on the structure of 5-axis machine.

  • A simple and versatile method of fabricating color patterns in two-dimension (2D) and three-dimension (3D) was developed using the selective-wettability approach. Red, green, and blue color elements are sequentially formed on a single substrate in a pattern-by-pattern and/or pattern-on-pattern fashion, through a simple coating process. Either 2D or 3D structures in an array format are produced by controlling the thickness of the hydrophobic layer (HL) coating a substrate within the framework of wetting transition. Moreover, it was demonstrated that the stacked geometry of two successive patterns can be easily tailored for various types of color arrays, with the pattern fidelity of a few tens of nanometers in terms of only a parameter of the HL thickness.

  • Bandwidth and Buffer are critical network resources to determine the end-to-end quality of service. In this paper, we investigate several techniques on bandwidth and buffer management and classify them according to the types they used for controlling the throughput of a TCP/IP network. Moreover, in this paper, it present a new approach for modeling the active bandwidth and buffer control mechanisms for TCP/IP networks.

A Study on Variables Related to Morbidity Perceived by Residents Lived in An Urban Poor Community (도시 저소득층 밀집지역 거주가족의 인식된 이환에 관련되는 변수에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to identify variables related to morbidity perceived by residents who lived in an urban poor community in Seoul city, to analyze correlation between varibles and morbidity, and to find out factors related to the morbidity. Chi-square test, t-test, Pearson's C. C., and factor analysis were employed in this study. The factors labelled by this study are family expenses, housing environment, consumption level, and health care. It may be concluded that a morbidity pattern in specific communicty is strongly associated with socio-economic factors as we observe it at macro level. If the conclusion is acceptable, the health care system should pay attention to reducing the incidence itself through controlling socio-economic aspects of the community and should be reoriented. In this context, the primary health care approach which World Health Organization has advocated can be justified.

  • In this paper, the direct and indirect neural adaptive controller are combined based on the Lyapunov synthesis approach. The proposed adaptive controller is constructed from RBF neural network and a set of fuzzy IF-THEN rules. And the weighting parameters are adjusted on-line according to some adaptation law for the purpose of controlling the plant to track a given trajectory. In this scheme, fuzzy IF-THEN rules are used to decide the combined weighting factor. It is shown that all the signals in the closed-loop system are uniformly bounded under mild assumptions. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated through the control of one-link rigid robotics manipulator.

  • An adaptive fuzzy controller is constructed from a set of fuzzy IF-THEN rules whose parameters are adjusted on-line according to some adaptation law for the purpose of controlling the plant to track a given trajectory. Adaptive fuzzy controller of this paper is designed based on the Lyapunov synthesis approach The adaptive fuzzy controller is designed through the following steps: first, construct an initial controller based on linguistic descriptions(in the form of fuzzy IF-THEN rules) about the unknown plant from human experts; then, develop an adaptation law to adjust the parameters of the fuzzy controller on-line, the adaptive fuzzy controllers are used to control the inverted pendulum to track a given trajectory.

  • Ni0.3Zn0.7Fe2O4 ferrite specimens were fabricated by dry pressing and tape casting method. The properties of each specimen were measured and compared. In order to design and manufacture the chip devices effectively, one important criterion can be that the sintered density of the laminated body should approach close to that of the dry pressed body which is regarded as standard. This requirement could be satisfied by controlling the solid loading of the ferrite sheet, lamination temperature and pressure. Using the optimum conditions (solid loading 55 wt%, lamination temperature 6$0^{\circ}C$, lamination pressure 400 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$, sintered at 125$0^{\circ}C$ 2h) a sintered ferrite, with the density of 5.18g/㎤ and permeability of 1390 at 0.5 MHz, were obtained.

  • In this paper, we propose new digital optimal control approach for controlling continuous-time nonlinear chaotic systems, which show very complex behavior and cannot be easily controlled by conventional control methods. Most real systems are represented as continuous-time system, whereas some control methods should be implemented under the condition of computer-based platforms, which are discrete-time systems. To achieve the control objective for chaotic systems successfully, the sampled-data controller, which considers the inter-sample behavior of the continuous-time systems effectively, should be needed.   • Slipping during various kinds of movement often leads to potentially dangerous incidents of falling. The purpose of this paper was to review some of the research performed in the field including such topics as rating scales for balance, kinematics and kinetics of slipping, adaptation to slippery conditions, postural and balance control, and protective movement during falling. Controlling slipping and fall injuries requires a multifaceted approach. Environmental conditions (state of floor surface, tidiness, lighting, etc), work task (walking, carrying, pushing, lifting, etc), and human behavior (anticipation of hazards, adaptation to risks, risk taking, etc) must be accounted for in the assessment of slip and fall-related risks. Future directions of research must deal with modeling of basic tribophysical, biomechanical, and postural control process involved in slipping and falling.
