  • This paper presents a new linear- matrix- inequality- basedintelligent digital redesign (LMI-based IDR) technique to match he states of the analog and the digital control systems at the intersampling instants as well as the sampling ones. The main features of the proposed technique are: 1) the multirate control is employed, and the control input is changed N times during one sampling period; 2) The proposed IDR technique is based on the compensated bilinear transformation.

  • This paper present a 7-level PWM inverter adopting voltage balancing control to series-connected input capacitors. The prior proposed 7-level PWM inverter consists of dc input source, three series-connected capacitors, two bidirectional switch modules, and an H-bridge. This circuit topology is useful to increase the number of output voltage levels, however it fails to generate 7-level in output voltage without consideration for voltage balancing among series-connected capacitors. Capacitor voltage imbalance is caused on the different period between charging and discharging of capacitor. To solve this problem, we uses the amplitude modulation of carrier wave, which is used to produce the center output voltage level. To verify the validity of the proposed control method, we carried out computer-aided simulation and experiments using a prototype.

  • This study deals with the characteristic of refrigerant for heat-treatment deformation control of SCM415 steel. The control of heat-treatment deformation must need the progress of production parts for an industry machine. Most of the deformation is occurred on unequal cooling. The unequal cooling is occurred by a property of quenching refrigeration. When a heated metal is deposited in the refrigeration, the cooling speed is so slow in early period of cooling because of occurring a steam-curtain. After more cooling, the steam-curtain is destroyed. In this progress, the cooling speed is very fast. The object of this study is to control the deformation of heat-treatment for the part of the industry machine by improving the conditions of quenching. The cooling curves and cooling rates of water, oil and polymer solution are obtained and illustrated. From the characteristics of the quenching refrigerant, the effects of heat-treatments on the thermal deformation and fatigue strength are also investigated.

  • Recent trend of increasing automated factories needs supply of high quality power from the utilities. Among the items of the power quality, voltage sag can be compensated by Dynamic Voltage Restorer(DVR). The key feature of the DVR is high response with less transient period to recover from the voltage sag due to the lightning or line-to-ground faults. In this paper we report that $H_{\infty}$ controller is very promising for the practical application to the controller of DVR. Experimental results shown in this paper was obtained by applying the control algorithm to 20 kVA DVR system. The experimental set consists of IGBT-based three phase inverter and the TMS320C32-60 DSP used for main processor of the control board. To simulate the 50% voltage sag, the SCR-based experimental set was constructed.

  • Need of a dimmer function becomes more important with increasing interest on a HDTV for home theater applications. In a conventional AC PDP, a possible method to reduce luminance of a whole Panel is to reduce a total number of sustain pulses and then to change the gray level. However, the reduction of the total sustain number causes the step of luminance to be rough. Moreover, it is impossible to control the luminance of the panel for a given gray level. In this paper, a simple and robust method is proposed to control linearly the luminance of whole panel by applying the asymmetric sustain pulses in the display period of the ADS driving scheme. As the range of luminance control by the proposed method is about $50\%$ for a given gray level. Moreover, it is experimentally verified that the proposed method shows similar dynamic margin performances compare with the conventional method.

  • The previous MCC's have the demerits of high cost and much manhour for rework because they are impossible for the standardization of products and have many manual connections. The customers require the products which can operate in connection with SCADA system by digitalizing the functions of the current MCC's and are systematized with capability of remote control. To solve these disadvantages and requirements, we developed the Electronic Motor Control System according to starting type for applying to fields based on this. This system has the various functions such as protection, measurement, and communication. Using these functions, it can monitor motor status through communication with the upper system and define the circuit for lower connection cost according to starting type and shorter manufacture period by program. The development of this product results in establishment of competitive structure with domestic competition and perfect automatic monitoring through linkage with SCADA system. In addition, it provides the comparable dominancy of receiving on orders in switch gear and adaptability to change of MCC market in Japan and Europe.

  • In this paper, a novel DC link voltage control scheme for a single-phase PWM converter is proposed. The main idea of the control scheme is eliminating the effect of dc link voltage harmonics by using power balance of input side and output side. With the proposed strategy, faster transient response than that of conventional method using low-pass filter can be obtained. In addition, a half period current control, based at equal switching frequency, is proposed. The validity of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation results for GTO PWM converter system.

  • The method of interrupt control is attempted to recognize the button-pushed result from a keyboard scan through control of 30ms appropriate period instead of key scan control method for a microprocessor system. This experimental study shows the reduced processing load of a microprocessor and prevention of the error by an algorithm when the keyboard buttons are both pushed at the same time as we recognize the result of a keyboard scanning by an interrupt method. In addition, an algorithm is provided to recognize the result of scanning by C programming as the keyboard button of a microprocessor system is pushed.

  • In this study, we developed full automation test system for pressure vessel. This pressure vessel containing oxygen, nitrogen and carbon is widely used in industrial field. The test items of pressure vessel are divided into three branches which is weight measurement, water-hydraulic, and leakage test. After leakage test is completed, cleaning and dry progress is carried out. And control system is consist of three controller which is PLC, monitoring system and database system. PLC is control all of system. Monitoring system measures weight, pressure, flow etc and display to all conditions. Database system stores tested data. we design system to control all test modules in communication by a second period with three control modules. Finally, we verified this system by field test.

Modeling and adaptive pole-placement control of LDPE autoclave reactor

  • A two-compartment four-cell model is developed for the adiabatic autoclave slim type reactor for free radical polymerization of low density polyethylene(LDPE). The mass and energy balances give rise to a set of ordinary differential equations, and by analyzing the system it is possible to predict properly not only the reactor performance but also the properties of polymer product. The steady state multiplicity is found to exist and examined by constructing the bifurcation diagram. The effects of various operation parameters on the reactor performance and polymer properties are investigated systematically to show that the temperature distribution plays the central role for the properties of polymer product. Therefore, it is essential to establish a good control strategy for the temperature in each compartment. In this study it is shown that the reactor system can be adoptively controlled by pole-placement algorithm with conventional PID controller. To accomplish a satisfactory control, the estimator and controller are initialized during the period of start-up.
