  • We propose a distributed medium access control protocol for cognitive radio networks to opportunistically utilize multiple channels. Under the proposed protocol, cognitive radio nodes forecast and rank channel availability observing primary users' activities on the channels for a period of time by time series analyzing using smoothing models for seasonal data by Winters' method. The proposed approach protects primary users, mitigates channel access delay, and increases network performance. We analyze the optimal time to sense channels to avoid conflict with the primary users. We simulate and compare the proposed protocol with the existing protocol. The results show that the proposed approach utilizes channels more efficiently.

  • No. 1 PL(Pickling Line) and No. 1 TCM(Tandem Cold Rolling Mill) at Pohang works started up in 1977 and have been operating successfully keeping high productivity for productivity thin gauge sheat such as BP, CR and silicon steel. On the other hand, customer's requirements of quality level are rasing higher continuously, so that Pohang works has combined and revamped No. 1 PL and No. 1 TCM in order to improve labor productivity, thickness accuracy and shape control capability, and so on in the period of 1977∼1999. This paper introduce the applied facilities, technologies and recent operations after revamping.

  • In this study, we evaluated the chemical and physical properties of structural steel, which is the most basic material for steel structures and reinforcement concrete structures in modern period. We theorized the technical data for the research of technical history of modern heritage structures by analyzing the product system and its quality control of structural steel used in modern historical heritages. The results of this study are as follow; first, the rounded bars were used in most of modern heritage structures. But in the case of Waegwan railroad bridge, the deformed bars were used in spit of not using in Japan after the great earthquake of Kantou. Second, the structural steel was good in terms of quality control, but It has brittle properties because it was not manufactured by heat treatment process.

  • This paper presents an effective method of precise velocity control at low speed with a low resolution encoder. Multirate observer to estimate the velocity at every DSP control period is used except a constant velocity mode. The observer corrects the estimation error when detects pulse signal. Unlike the conventional methods, the multirate estimator is stable at a low speed. However, the multirate estimator shows ripples at a constant velocity. Thus, in this paper we use a velocity prediction method which uses the present velocity from the previous average velocity to reject the ripple. In a summary, at a constant speed mode, the predicted velocity is used. Otherwise, the estimated velocity by the multirate obvserver is used. The effectiveness of the multirate observer and ripple rejection at low speed is verified through various simulations.

  • Cancer registration provides a firm basis for cancer control efforts and research into changing patterns of incidence, mortality, survival and prevalence is of obvious importance. Most of the countries of Asia have already published relevant data although the level of coverage and accuracy do vary a great deal both between and within countries. The present review concerns the relevant literature for the period 2008-2013, focusing on the types of research conducted and the conclusions that can be drawn with regard to what should be done in the future to translate the information available into effective intervention efforts to reduce the burden of disease. A major emphasis has been on determining variation in incidence and mortality/survival on the basis of ethnicity and socioeconomic as well as geographical background, as well as trends over time, either for cancer in general or specific organ sites. In addition a small number of papers focused on methodological, quality and cancer control issues, very pertinent to the future development of cancer registry based research.

  • This paper considers a carrier based signal injection method for use in the three shunt sensing inverter (TSSI) for sensorless motor control. It also analyzes the loss according to the injection axis of the voltage signal. To remove both the phase current and rotor position sensors, a sensorless method and a phase current reconstruction method can be simultaneously considered. However, an interaction between the two methods can be incurred when both methods inject voltage signals simultaneously. In this paper, a signal injection based sensorless method with the 120° OFF Discontinuous PWM (DPWM) is implemented in a TSSI to avoid this interaction problem. Since one leg does not have a switching event for one sampling period in the 120° OFF DPWM, the switching loss is altered according to the injection axis. The switching loss in the d-axis injection case can be up to 32% larger than that in the q-axis injection case. Other losses according to the injection axis are also analyzed.

  • The KSLV-I satellite launch vehicle will be launched in a space center currently under construction. The Space Center which is an advance post base of space development of Korea is located on Oenaro island in Kohung, South Cholla Province. A Ground Complex of the Space Center consists of an AC(Assembly Complex), a LC(Launch Complex), and a MCC(Mission Control Center). Assembly and test facilities are located in the AC in which stage assembly, integrated assembly, check-up, certification test, and pre-launch test are made effectively. A launch pad, fuel supply facilities, a launch control center and associated supporting facilities are located in the LC, and the MCC has control over the space center. These ground complex facilities have diverse forms of an interface with mechanical device, electric device, and etc. These should also provide optimum condition and performance during launch operation processes of the launch vehicle. This paper introduces the result of R&D for the AC of the ground complex performed during system design period.

  • In this study, for estimating responses of a controlled structure and determining the maximum control force of velocity-dependent damping devices, three estimation models such as Fourier envelope convex model, probability model, and Newmark design spectrum are used. For this purpose, a procedure proposed by Gupta (1990) for estimating spectral velocity using pseudo-spectral velocity which is given by the estimation models is used and modified to consider the effects of increased damping ratio by the damping device. Time history results indicate that Newmark design spectrum gives the best estimation of maximum control force for over all period structures.

  • Step-by-step time integration methods are widely used for solving structural dynamics problem. One difficult yet critical choice an analyst must make is to decide an appropriate time step size. The choice of time step size has a significant effect on solution accuracy and computational expense. The objective of this research is to derive error estimate for newly developed time integration method and develop automatic time step size control algorithm for structural dynamics. A formula for computing error tolerance is derived based on desired period resolution. An automatic time step size control strategy is proposed based on a normalized local error estimate for the generalized-α method. Numerical examples demonstrate the developed strategy satisfies general design criteria for time step size control algorithm for dynamic problem.

  • A study on quinolone antibacterial, norfloxacin, was performed to apply for the control of bacterial diseases in eel (Anguilla japonica). Norfloxacin was proved excellent in antibacterial activity and sensitivity against fish bacterial pathogens when compared with the existing antibacterials and antibiotics. And any side effect was not observed during the period of indicated use. An outline of minimal inhibitory concentration was $0.03{\sim}0.1{\mu}g/ml$, $TLm_{48h}$ value was 3,500mg/l. The residual time of the day in fish body was less than 17 days and any pathological changes were not observed. The study has revealed that norfloxacin can be applied to treat some fish bacterial disease by the dosage of 100g/day/ton of fish body weight for about 3 days perorally. Further, norfloxacin may be used for the control of bacterial pathogens in eel.
