  • In this paper, we propose a less conservative a linear matrix inequality (LMI) condition for the constrained robust model predictive control of systems with input constraints and polytopic uncertainty. Systems with input constraints are represented as perturbed systems with sector bounded conditions. For the infinite horizon control, closed-loop stability conditions are obtained by using a parameter dependent Lyapunov function. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by an example.

  • In this paper, we proposed and analyze an robust adaptive control scheme for uncertain nonlinear systems using Universal function approximators. The proposed scheme completely overcomes the singularity problem which occurs in the indirect adaptive feedback linearizing control. No projection in the estimated parameters and no switching in the control input are needed. The stability of the closed-loop systems is guaranteed in the Lyapunov standpoint.

  • An improved robust hybrid control law is proposed. This law used the separated bounding function and the stiffness bound. It satisfied the performance though we don't know precise information of contact environments. It guarantees the practical stability in sense of Lyapunov. Simulation was performed to validate this law using a four-axis SCARA type robot manipulator.

  • An improved robust hybrid control law is proposed This law uses the separated bounding function: so uncertainties of each axis does not affect the others. Also, this law uses the separated $\varepsilon$, so we can take different $\varepsilon$ for each axis This law guarantees the practical stability in sense of Lyapunov. Simulation was performed to validate this law using a four-axis SCARA type robot manipulator.

  • In this paper, an active vibration control of a translating steel strip in a zinc galvanizing line is investigated. The control objectives in the galvanizing line are to improve the uniformity of the zinc deposit on the strip surfaces and to reduce the zinc consumption. The translating steel strip is modeled as a moving belt equation by using Hamilton’s principle for systems with moving mass. The total mechanical energy of the strip is considered to be a Lyapunov function candidate. A nonlinear boundary control law that assures the exponential stability of the closed loop system is derived. The existence of a closed-loop solution is shown by proving that the closed-loop dynamics is dissipative. Simulation results are provided.

  • A new semi-continuous sliding mode control is proposed for electromagnetic suspension systems. The control input is derived from the reaching law and the Lyapunov stability criteria, which is composed of continuous terms and low switching term. It has a low switching gain and chattering fee characteristics. It is shown by the computer simulation that the proposed control has good tracking performance and robustness compared with the classical sliding mode control.

  • In this paper, the robust stability, and the quadratic performance of linear uncertain systems are studied. A quadratic Lyapunov function candidate with time-varying matrix is derived to provide robust stability bounds. Also upper bounds of a quadratic performance is given under the assumption that the uncertain system is stable. Both the robust stability bounds and the upper bounds of a quadratic performance are obtained as solutions of a class of modified Lyapunov equations.

  • This paper presents a rank-constrained linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach to the design of a multi-objective controller such as $H_2/H_{\infty}$ control. Multi-objective control is formulated as an LMI optimization problem with a nonconvex rank condition, which is imposed on the controller gain matirx not Lyapunov matrices. With this rank-constrained formulation, we can expect to reduce conservatism because we can use separate Lyapunov matrices for different control objectives. An iterative penalty method is applied to solve this rank-constrained LMI optimization problem. Numerical experiments are performed to illustrate the proposed method.

  • This paper proposes an RBFN-based adaptive tracking controller for an electrically driven mobile robot with parametric uncertainties and external disturbances. A mobile robot model considered in this paper includes all models of the robot body and actuators with uncertain kinematic and dynamic parameters, and uncertain frictions and external disturbances. The proposed controller consists of an RBFN(Radial Basis Function Network) and a robust adaptive controller. The presented RBFN is used to approximate unknown nonlinear robot dynamic functions. The proposed controller is adjusted by the adaptation laws obtained through the Lyapunov stability analysis. The proposed control scheme does not a priori need the accurate knowledge of all parameters in the robot kinematics, robot dynamics and actuator dynamics. Also, nominal parameter values are not required in the controller. The global stability of the closed-loop robot control system is guaranteed using the Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results show the validity and robustness of the proposed control scheme.
