  • Objectives : To examine the meaning of 'geuk(極)' and 'geuk(克)' of Cheon-gi and Insa respectively, for better translation of the contents and to understand the structure of the Donguisusebowon cosmology. Methods : The meanings of the characters '極' and '克' based on examples in the Daxue were examined together with content-related books such as the Shujing and the Shijing. Related concepts such as Taiji and Huangji were investigated as well. Results & Conclusions : Through investigation of the character usages and contexts in the Daxue, the archetypes of the two characters '極' and '克' were discovered. Based on these findings, the characteristics of Cheon-gi and Insa were thoroughly studied, which enabled better understanding of the structure of the world view that has been created by their integration. 'Geuk(極)' refers to Cheon-gi as the open world wherein all beings of different horizons are connected through a common principle. 'Geuk(克)' refers to Insa as an individual world that could be fully established by manifestation of one's moral abilities that lie within everybody. The two worlds integrate with each other, becoming two poles of the world humans belong to, while the human heart, in correspondence to these two worlds, create two poles within themselves, of which one pursues the public world while the other rejects the personal.

  • This paper analyzed maximized the tension not by functional restriction but by psychological response inducement to form the tension of the horror game from the point of space time view. In order that, We arranged three major situations inducing the tension in the horror game and prepared space time analysis base. Pure fiction time of game itself is applied on game time excluding the time creating the cut-scene and the game space is organized with various combination of three space types. This analysis result can help horror game design by discovering the relationship between space time structure and tension forming of the horror game. These analysis results allow us to find guidelines for the time and space design of horror games that can be flexibly linked to game events and contexts by controlling the player's dynamic/static tension and temporary/continuous tension.

  • This study aimed to derive pedagogical implications by comparing and analyzing how the concept of pi is taught in 10 different elementary mathematics textbooks, which are scheduled to be applied from 2023. We developed a textbook analysis framework by previous studies on the concept of pi and the teaching of pi, and analyzed in terms of three instructional elements (i.e. inferring conceptsof pi, understanding properties of pi, and applying relationships). We derived the need to emphasize various contexts for estimation of pi, presentation of problem situations that provide motivation to actually measure diameters and circumferences, providing an opportunity to explore the properties of measurement, and an experience the flexibility of selecting an approximate value of pi. Based on the above conclusions and pedagogical implications through the research results., we suggested ways to teach the concept of pi in elementary mathematics and improvement points for developing textbooks focusing on the context of introduction of pi and the use of technological tools.

  • Fraction division is the content that is important but difficult to learn because it includes the process of finding a numerical expression in the real-world context, the process of making a context that matches a numerical expression, how to solve division, and the justification of standard algorithm. This study analyzes the word problems and problem solving methods about fraction division which elementary pre-service teachers represented. Pre-service teachers have more difficulty in making word problem where the dividend is less than the divisor and they also show typical errors in making the word problems. There were differences in the methods presented according to the contexts of division in problem solving. Through this study, it is necessary to rethink the teaching methods for fraction division instruction in the curriculum for pre-service teachers and analyze the formation process of 'knowledge for content and teaching' because of the differences in responses between grades.

  • The future society requires not only knowledge but also various competencies, including creativity, cooperative spirit and integrated thinking. This research develops a program for integrating mathematics and information science to enhance important mathematical competencies such as problem-solving and communication. This program does not require much prior knowledge, can be motivated using everyday language and easy-to-access tools, and is based on creative problem-solving activities with multilateral cooperation. The usefulness and rigor of mathematics are emphasized as the number of participants increases in the activities, and theoretical principles stem from the matrix theory over finite fields. Moreover, the activity highlights a connection with error-correcting codes, an important topic in information science. We expect that the real-world contexts of this program contribute to enhancing mathematical communication competence and providing an opportunity to experience the values of mathematics and that this program to be accessible to teachers since coding is not included.

  • Objectives : This paper aims to investigate the role of the sweet flavor within the contexts of 'pungent and sweet becoming Yang' and 'sour and sweet becoming Yin' and the meaning of the two concepts. Methods : Related contents in databases including the Siqu Quanshu were searched with 'pungent and sweet becoming Yang' and 'sour and sweet becoming Yin', whose understanding and application were examined. Results & Conclusions : The theories of 'pungent and sweet becoming Yang' and 'sour and sweet becoming Yin' originate from Cheng Wuji's comparison of the Gancaoqianjiangtang and Shaoyaogancaotang in the 29th verse of the Shanghanlun. The two terms first appeared in the Qing period among the Wenbing school. In other medical texts, the combination with sweet flavors could be found with salty, bitter and bland flavors other than with pungent and sour. The role of the sweet flavor in 'pungent and sweet becoming Yang' and 'sour and sweet becoming Yin' is to accomplish the dispersing and converging action slowly and effectively, by supplying energy in small amounts preventing it from happening too quickly, corresponding to its Earth nature of the Five Elements which harmonizes the Yin and Yang. While 'becoming Yin' and 'becoming Yang' could be understood as tonifying Yin and Yang, it could also be understood as 'doing Yin' and 'doing Yang', The specific actions differ according to herb and mixture. The point of distinction between the aforementioned tonification and that of medicinals that have Yin and Yang tonifying properties is that due to the other flavor that is matched with the sweet flavor, Qi is given motility which allows for tonification without stagnation.

  • Sense-Making Theory gives persuasive power to information seeking behavior while acknowledging the diversity of subjects. It is being used as a theory and methodology to explain the phenomenon of information seeking in various temporal and spatial contexts related to the communication of individuals' inner realms, face-to-face, organization, and mass communication. However, it is not to be a theory to explain the information seeking behavior of a group in that it explains the individual epistemological interpretation of the subjects. Also, the purpose of the theory was to establish a receiver-centered communication theory that constructs sense-making by itself, away from the receiver who unilaterally accepts the sender's information from the perspective of communication theory. However, Dervin accepted the existence of object information without explaining the relationship between the recipient's external information and the receiver. Owing to the establishing his concept of information following the Popper(1972)'s world concept, its object of observation is not World III(objective content of thought), but the process of sense making in which World II(psychological world) receives information generated in World III. In this context, Dervin's theory is not to explain the communication behavior at a group level.

  • The purpose of present study is to discover the meaning of the Eogul(억울) which is known as a emotion from perceived unfairness. Even though Eogul has been mentioned as a cause of the Hwabyung in Korean culture there were few studies about it. Researchers designed two studies to provide clear understanding for this concept. In study 1, researchers conducted an open-ended questionnaire for 44 participants to deduce the cultural contexts and the whole experience on Eogul. Data were analyzed with grounded theory, the results were cross-checked by different evaluators. According to the analysis, Eogul is not only the negative feelings from the perceived unfairness, but also the motivations and behaviors to resolve the feelings. Especially, what makes Eogul culture-bounded could be related display rules on expressing emotions. We conducted study 2 to clarify the cultural attributes of Eogul in Korean culture. Variables that explain cultural differences were chosen and 123 participants were surveyed with them including the items developed for measuring Eogul. Cultural meanings and implications of Eogul were discussed with the results.

  • Since fairness issue has been found to be important in many different business contexts such as marketing, organizational psychology and management in general. The purpose of this exploratory study was to identify the factor structure of fairness and its effects on customer satisfaction and word-of-mouth. In this survey, we collected data from the respondents who have experienced online shopping from 61 online shopping companies. The data were analyzed by structural equation model using LISREL 8.5. The results indicated that fairness has a four-factor structure, which is composed of distributive, procedural, interpersonal, and informational fairness, which is different from three-factor structure. In addition, perceived justice as a second-order construct were found to have a positive effect on customer satisfaction and word-of-mouth intention. The study suggests that online shopping mall should increase customer satisfaction and positive word-of-mouth by enhancing multiple aspects related to fairness.

  • PURPOSE: Computerization using ICF as a protocol can enhance the assessment, communication, and decision-making of various disciplines and cultures, individual functions, disabilities and health to promote communication and understanding among various professionals, organizations, and countries. The empirical foundation for these propositions was provided by delineating of six distinct computerization components. METHODS: This study analyzed 14 papers that combined the medical field and information technology to activate the ICF through computerization. From each of these papers, distinctive advantages were extracted to propose six computerization elements. The validity of these computerization elements was examined. These papers encompass various computerization elements, among which core elements were identified. In particular, six common core elements were extracted from these papers and assumed to be strategic computerization components for ICF activation. A heuristic methodology was employed to validate these components, representing IT technology maturity using four determining indices, which were then presented graphically for validation attempts. RESULTS: Four quantified indices were defined: reliability, cost-effectiveness, support and updates, and collaboration. Using these indices, this study identified elements that leverage existing IT technologies and require new development. The possibility of increasing utility was identified by applying computerization to ICF. CONCLUSION: This study examined the strategic elements of utilizing ICF by computerizing it using a protocol concept and discussed its potential for utilization. The potential to enhance the value of information in social, physical, and cultural contexts was presented by integrating various domains and data within the ICF framework.
