This paper presents a caching algorithm that offers better reconstructed data quality to the requesters than a probabilistic caching scheme while maintaining comparable network performance. It decides whether an incoming data packet must be cached based on the dynamic caching probability, which is adjusted according to the priorities of content carried by the data packet, the uncertainty of content popularities, and the records of cache events in the router. The adaptation of caching probability depends on the priorities of content, the multiplication factor adaptation, and the addition factor adaptation. The multiplication factor adaptation is computed from an instantaneous cache-hit ratio, whereas the addition factor adaptation relies on a multiplication factor, popularities of requested contents, a cache-hit ratio, and a cache-miss ratio. We evaluate the performance of the caching algorithm by comparing it with previous caching schemes in network simulation. The simulation results indicate that our proposed caching algorithm surpasses previous schemes in terms of data quality and is comparable in terms of network performance.

In the mobile Internet, users generally work with handheld devices with limited computing power and small screens. Their access conditions also change frequently. In this paper, we present a novel method supporting intelligent content adaptation to better suit handheld devices. The underpinning is a unit of information (UOI)-based content adaptation method, which automatically detects semantic relationships among the components of Web contents and then reorganizes page layout to fit handheld devices based on identified UOIs. Experimental results demonstrate that our method enables more sensitive content adaptation.

본 논문은 영상콘텐츠에서 공간콘텐츠로의 전환의 핵심을 각색(adaptation)에 두고, 테마공간의 원형콘텐츠인 영상콘텐츠가 어떻게 각색되어 공간으로 재현되어야 하는가를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 또한 스토리텔링에 대한 연구는 무수히 많이 쏟아져 나오고 있고, 소설의 영화화나 TV드라마화, 영화의 게임화나 그 반대와 관련한 각색 연구는 많지만 영상콘텐츠에서 테마공간으로 전환 시의 각색의 방법과 스토리텔링의 전단계라는 측면에서의 각색에 대한 연구는 부족한 편이다. 우선 각색의 정의를 내리고, 자네티와 더들리의 각색방법을 차용하여 영상콘텐츠의 테마공간화에 적용해 보았다. 이어서 테마공간의 특징을 살펴본 후 테마공간은 결국 영상콘텐츠의 이야기 이미지 행위의 재현 장소임을 사례분석과 함께 밝히고, 각각 어떤 각색을 통해 재현되고 있는가를 분석하였다. 연구결과 공간의 스토리텔링보다 각색이 선행작업이어야 하고, 3인칭 시점의 영상콘텐츠와는 달리 1인칭 시점의 테마공간 재현의 핵심은 관람이 아닌 체험임을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 영상콘텐츠에서 테마공간의 전환은 단순한 모방이 아니라 새로운 콘텐츠로 재창조되었음을 밝혔다. 향후 다양한 테마공간의 구체적인 각론적 층위에서의 분석을 통해 양자간의 전환이 효과적으로 작용하고, 다양한 각색 방법이 실질적으로 적용되기를 기대한다.

In this paper, we propose an application of data hiding, especially for content adaptation, where one can reduce computational time and get better transcoding results or qualify. Hiding some useful information for content adaptation can help resource tailor to do effective transcoding so that one can achieve lower complexity as well as better quality in content adaptation. Experimental results show that the proposed method based on data hiding gives effectiveness to content adaptation with reasonable subjective quality.

본 논문은 응용수준 액티브네트워크(ALAN)상에서 자치 적응성(Self-Adaptation) 컨텐츠 서비스 네트워크(CSN)에 관하여 언급하였다. 최근에는 컨텐츠 전송에 초점을 둔 CDN(Content Delivery Network)기술과 더불어 서비스 전송에 초점을 둔 CSN(Content Service Network)이 등장하였다. 그리고 CSN과 관련하여 IETF(Internet Export Task Force)에서는 OPES(Open Pluggable Edge Service)표준의 표준화가 진행 중에 있다. 그러나 최근에 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경의 도래와 함께 망에서는 사용자의 자주 변화하는 제약조건에 맞는 서비스를 제공하기 위한 자치적응성(self-adaptation)이 요구되고 있다. 기존 CDN/CSN는 자치 적응성의 고려가 부족하다. 왜냐하면 기존 망이 이러한 기능을 현재 지원할 수 없기 때문이다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 망에서 기능성 제공이 가능한 액티브네트워크 상의 자치적응성 CSN의 구조를 제안하였다.

A conventional environment adaptation for robust speech recognition is usually conducted using transform-based techniques. Here, we present a discriminative adaptation strategy based on a multi-condition-trained model, and propose a new method to provide universal application to a new environment using the environment's specific conditions. Experimental results show that a speech recognition system adapted using the proposed method works successfully for other conditions as well as for those of the new environment.

Content adaptation is an effective solution to support the quality of service over multimedia services over heterogeneous environments. This paper deals with the accuracy and the real-time requirement, two important issues in making decision on content adaptation. From our previous problem formulation, we propose an optimal algorithm and a fast approximation based on the Viterbi algorithm of dynamic programming. Through extensive experiments, we show that the proposed algorithms can enable accurate adaptation decisions, and especially they can support the real-time processing.

모바일 콘텐츠 적응화는 데스크탑 PC 용으로 제작되고 표현된 웹 콘텐츠를 크기와 정보량이 제한된 사용자의 무선 모바일 디바이스 환경에 맞게 변환하여 표현해주는 적응화 기술을 말한다. 기존의 웹 콘텐츠 적응화 방법은 대부분 장치 의존적인 접근 방법을 취했다. 또한 소형 장치에 맞게 콘텐츠를 변환하는 작업이 대부분 수동으로 이루어졌고 콘텐츠와 연관된 문맥 정보가 제공되지 않았다. 이 외에도 사용자의 선호도를 반영하지 못하여 모든 사용자에게 동일한 정보를 제공하였다. 이와 같이 기존의 모바일 콘텐츠 적응화 방법은 범용성, 확장성, 사용자 적응성에 문제가 있었고, 그 결과 사용자는 방대한 양의 콘텐츠 중에서 자신이 원하는 정보를 선택하는데 어려움을 겪을 수밖에 없었다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 모바일 디바이스에 대한 새로운 웹 콘텐츠 적응화 기법을 제시한다. 제안하는 기법의 특징은 모바일 디바이스 적응화와 사용자 적응화를 동시에 적용하는 자동화된 콘텐츠 적응화를 시도하였다는 것이다. 이를 위해 웹 콘텐츠 적응화 과정을 블록 필터링, 블록 제목 추출, 블록 콘텐츠 요약, 학습을 통한 개인화 등의 4 단계로 구성하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 웹페이지를 블록 단위로 나눠서 불필요한 블록을 제거하고 사용자가 필요로 하는 콘텐츠 블록만을 선별하여 모바일 디바이스에 나타내며, 학습을 통해 사용자가 관심을 가지는 정보를 정보목록의 상위에 놓음으로써 사용자가 선호정보를 편리하게 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. 온라인 뉴스사이트를 서점을 대상으로 한 일련의 실험을 통해 제안하는 모바일 웹 콘텐츠 적응화의 성능을 평가하였으며 디바이스 적응화와 사용자 적응화 모두 만족한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a breast feeding adaptation scale (BFAS) to evaluate adaptation to breastfeeding for breastfeeding mothers and their infants and to test the validity and reliability of the instrument. Methods: The study was conducted as follows: application of the conceptual framework, identification of the content domains, items generation, and test of validity and reliability. In order to test validity and reliability, two panels of experts reviewed items and subcategories of the preliminary questionnaire and then data were collected from 329 mothers who were up to 4 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding. Descriptive statistics, t-test, factor analysis, and Cronbach's alpha were used to analyze the data. Results: The conceptual framework was based on the Roy adaptation model. The content domains were developed via literature review, review of instruments, and data acquired from the interviews of breastfeeding mothers and nurses. A total of 69 items belonging to 8 domains were generated. A reduction to 44 preliminary items was accomplished through content validity analysis. Factor analysis extracted 8 factors with a total of 27 items on a 5-point Likert scale. Content validity, construct validity, criterion validity, and reliability of the BFAS were established. Conclusion: The newly developed BFAS is a reliable and valid instrument with which the adaptation of breastfeeding mothers and their infants to the breastfeeding behavior can be evaluated.

오늘날 우리는 인터넷에 연결된 PC뿐만 아니라, 이동형 기기인 휴대전화, 무선 인터넷을 이용하는 PDA, 노트북, 그리고 D-TV 등을 통해서도 웹서버에 접근하여 콘텐츠 형태의 정보를 얻고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 환경을 지원하기 위하여 각각의 적응화된 컨텐츠를 저장하는 것을 기반으로 하며, 이를 다양한 기기를 지닌 사용자에게 활용하기 위해 페이지 정보를 지니는 메타 데이터를 적용하는 웹 캐싱 기법(SOP)를 제안한다.
