The main function of a container terminal is to load container freights into vessels and discharge them from vessels. The container terminal needs to utilize its resources effectively in order to improve the productivity of it. This study deals with the deployment model for yard cranes whose type is RMGC (rail mounted gantry crane). We develop a mathematical model for the deployment of yard cranes. The model considers not only the deployment but also the storage plans. It could be divided into two cases according to whether inter-block movements of yard cranes are allowed or not, during the same period Numerical examples are solved and analyzed to validate the model. Then, additional experiments are performed to compare the performance of the model with that of a previous model without the re-deployment of yard cranes.

In recent years, AGVs(Automated Guided Vehicles) have received growing attention as a subsystem of the integrated container operating system which enables unmanned control. improvement of job reliability, accuracy and productivity. Therefore, a number of works have been done to enhance the performance AGVs. In this paper. job deployment and a dynamic routing control system composed of supervisor, traffic controller. motion controller and routing table are discussed. A simple job deployment scheme and an efficient dynamic routing algorithm incorporating with the deadlock prediction and avoidance algorithm are investigated.

Appropriate containers are deployed to cope with new request arrivals at Fog Computing (FC) hosts. In the case, we can consider two scenarios: (1) the requests may be queued until sufficient resources are prepared for the container deployments; (2) FC hosts may transfer arrived service requests to nearby FC hosts when they cannot accommodate new container deployments due to their limited or insufficient resources. Herein, for more employed neighboring FC hosts, arrived service requests may experience shorter waiting time in container deployment queue of each FC host. In contrast, they may take longer transfer time to pass through increased number of FC hosts. For this reason, there exists a trade-off relationship in the container deployment time depending on the number of employed FC hosts accommodating service request arrivals. Consequently, we numerically analyze the trade-off relationship to employ optimal number of neighboring FC hosts.
This paper develops a framework of combining Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) and evaluates the performance factors of container terminals using the framework. This study designs a BSC of container terminals and then transforms this into QFD in order to determine the priority of performance factors. This paper provides a modified QFD model and shows a causal relationship among perspectives of BSC to find out critical performance factors of container terminals. This modified QFD model is different from traditional models in that a correlation and relation matrix is presented. This combination of BSC and QFD with AHP and ANP helps to create more realistic and accurate representation of QFD models.
This paper introduces some of the developments related to the handling equipment in container terminals and various new conceptual handling systems that have been proposed during the last several decades. The basic ideas behind the previous equipment improvements are analyzed to identify future directions that can be used for devising new handling systems. The handling systems in the container terminals include a quayside handling system, transport system, and yard system. In response to the deployment of mega-sized vessels for container transportation systems, productivity improvement has become one of the most urgent issues in the container terminals. This paper analyzes the previous improvements made for achieving higher productivity in the three subsystems of container handling. Some conceptual handling systems are introduced including the linear motor conveyance system (LMCS), automated storage and retrieval systems (AR/RS), overhead grid rail (GRAIL), SPEEDPORT, SuperDock, the automated container system by ZPMC (ACS-ZPMC), and AUTOCON.

Recent advancements in cloud service virtualization technologies have witnessed a shift from a Virtual Machine-centric approach to a container-centric paradigm, offering advantages such as faster deployment and enhanced portability. Container orchestration has emerged as a key technology for efficient management and scheduling of these containers. However, with the increasing complexity and diversity of heterogeneous workloads and service types, resource scheduling has become a challenging task. Various research endeavors are underway to address the challenges posed by diverse workloads and services. Yet, a systematic approach to container orchestration for effective cloud management has not been clearly defined. This paper proposes the DRA-Engine (Dynamic Resource Allocation Engine) for resource scheduling in container orchestration. The proposed engine comprises the Request Load Procedure, Required Resource Measurement Procedure, and Resource Provision Decision Procedure. Through these components, the DRA-Engine dynamically allocates resources according to the application's requirements, presenting a solution to the challenges of resource scheduling in container orchestration.
The Android container is used for various purposes such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) solution and Android malware analysis. The strong point of android container than other technologies is it can simulate an android device like a real android phone on a hardware layer. Therefore, automatic management solutions for android container are necessary. This paper introduces a new design of cloud-based management solution for android containers. Through the proposal, android containers are managed automatically from a cloud platform - OpenStack with various tasks like: container configuration, deployment, destroy, android version, hardware device. In addition, the system monitoring and system statistics for android containers and hardware devices are also provided.
Container terminals need decisions in the course of daily-24 hour and 365 day - operations, and all these decisions are inter-related. The ultimate goal of Decision Support System is to minimize ship loading/unloading time, resources used to handle the workload, and congestion on the roads inside the terminal. It is also to make the best possible use of the storage space available. Therefore, the necessity of decision support tools are emphasized to enhance the operational efficiency of container shipping terminals more, because of limits and complexity of these decisions. So, in thia paper, we draw evaluation items for Decision Support Systems and suggest optimization strategy of evaluation items which have the greatest influence on Decision Support system, that is, yard stacking allocation, RTGC deployment among blocks, and YT allocation to QCs. We also estimate the efficiency of Decision Support System design by simulation using G2 language, comparing ship loading/unloading time.

Recently security is being an important issue in almost every field of industry. This situation has affected port logistics industry deeply. Ports are now leaving operational methods that only focus on productivity, and shifting to new ones which focus on safety and customer services on the basis of it. Thus a lot of companies and institutions have offered various solutions as this issue becomes more and more intense. Among them, most typical solutions involve installing special devices to ordinary containers to improve its security, such as CSD (Container Security Device) of GE (General Electric) and eSeal of Savi Networks. On the other hand, these devices focus only on international standards or technical implementation, and this causes inconvenience to actual users like cargo owners, sea carriers, or stevedoring companies. This is considered to be due to lack of sufficient consideration on user demands. This research uses QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method for deducting system requirements in order to solve the problems of previous security devices and to develop a security system that can not only reflect the demands of the users but also considers real-world conditions. According to the QFD results, a total of 21 system CTO's were deducted under 5 categories.

Cloud computing has been gaining popularity over decades, and container, a technology that is primarily used in cloud native applications, is also drawing attention. Although container technologies are lighter and more capable than conventional VMs, there are several security threats, such as sharing kernels with host systems or uploading/downloading images from the image registry. one of which can refer to the integrity of container images. In addition, runtime security while the container application is running is very important, and monitoring the behavior of the container application at runtime can help detect abnormal behavior occurring in the container. Therefore, in this paper, first, we implement a signing checker that automatically checks the signature of an image based on the existing Docker Content Trust (DCT) technology to ensure the integrity of the container image. Next, based on falco, an open source project of Cloud Native Computing Foundation(CNCF), we introduce newly created image for the convenience of existing falco image, and propose implementation of docker-compose and package configuration that easily builds a monitoring system.
