When women are removed with their matrix which is a emotionally significant organ of symbol in psychologically adapting themselves to mother and woman, that is threatened and injured with woman role decisively. This study tried to find the efficient nursing intervention method to maintain and promote their health, to cope with health problem, and to inquire into the loss experience of women with hysterectomy by using the phenomenological method. The analysis of the data was made through the phenomenological analytic method suggested by Giorgi. The result of the study was as follows : The factors which have influence on the loss experience of the subjects are an offer of information, support system, age, occupation, economic situation, family history, character, season, the existence of ovary and religion. The loss experience of matrix was expressed in lingual, reactions to the loss of function, sex, body change and husband, in behavioral behaviors in emotion and body. The loss of matrix of the subjects was relived by religion. perineorrhapy, exercise, reading, watching video and diet. The subjects each showed ways of reaction of fatalism, giving-up, coping on the loss experience of matrix. In conclusion, since we ascertained that the nursing in the process of recovery decide the quality of life. though women with hysterectomy undergo various loss experience and adapt to it in the end, it is necessary to give them enough information and educate husband, having on important effect on the loss experience, to be a good supporter, And technically skilled nurses of consultant are thought to be able to contrive better qualitative life of women with hysterectomy as an important bridge between the subjects and their required information, since the nurses have their well-formed position of relationship of confidence through continuous contact with patients and their family.
The values of fracture energy and mechanical flexural strength of Fiber Reinforced Cement (FRC) with polypropylene (PP) fiber modified by Ion Assisted Reaction (JAR), by which functional groups were grafted on the surface of PP fiber, was improved about 2 times as those of fracture energy and flexural strength of cement reinforced by untreated PP fiber. PP fiber was irradiated in O$_2$ environment by Ar$\^$+/ ion. The contact angle of PP treated by IAR decreased largely when compared with untreated PP. From this result, we expected that surface energy and interfacial adhesion force of treated PP fiber increased. The strain hardening occurred in the strain-stress curve of FRC including PP treated by IAR when compared with that of FRC with untreated PP. These enhanced mechanical properties might be due to strong interaction between hydrophilic group on modified PP fiber and hydroxyl group in cement matrix. This hydrophilic group on surface modified PP fiber was confirmed by XPS analysis. We clearly observed hydration products that were fixed at modified PP fiber due to the strong adhesion force of interface in cement reinforced modified PP by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) study.
Small and full scale model tests were performed to obtain the transient responses of shafts subjected to elastic impact by impact-echo test. Four end conditions of drilled shafts were considered: (1) free, (2) fixed, (3) rock-socketed, and (4) soft bottom. In small scale model tests, mock-up shafts were fabricated to simulate these four drilled shafts using poly-urethane and plastic material. Additionally, skin frictions between shaft and rock were changed to find out the effect of side contact on dynamic responses. All impact responses were tested in the air. Subsequently, full scale model tests were also carried out on concrete shafts that were in free and rock-socketed condition. The end conditions of the drilled shafts could be identified with good reliability by the waveforms from both small and full scale model tests. The results obtained in this study will provide an improved understanding of the impact responses for end conditions, especially for rock-socketed drilled shafts that are frequently designed and built in Korea.
The batch tests were performed to determine the ratio of Fenton reagent on diesel contaminated soil. The objective of a column test was to determine and optimize the hydrogen peroxide requirements for the remediation of a soil contaminated with diesel fuel. The batch test were done on 5 g diesel contaminated soil containing hydrogen peroxide (35%) and Iron (II) sulfate. The $H_2O_2(g):Fe^{2+}(g)$ ratio varied 1:0, 30:1, 15:1, 5:1, 1:1, with contact reaction time 120min. Initial diesel concentration were 2,000 mg/kg, 5,000 mg/kg, and 10,000 mg/kg. Average diesel removal from the contaminated soil is 97% after 2hrs. Results of this study showed possible application of without addition of iron source. In column test, treatment of a diesel-contaminated soil (initial diesel concentration: 2,000 mg/kg, 5,000 mg/kg, and 10,000 mg/kg) with hydrogen peroxide (35%) only was containing natural-occurring minerals. The time required for the column test was approximately 90min, 180min, 270min; column length was 5 em, 10 em, and 15 em. The most effective stoichiometry (final diesel cone.: $200{\sim}300mg/kg$) of 0.2 g peroxide consumed/mg diesel degraded. Further investigation is required to identify the effect of soil organic matter and soil mineral.
Dental implantation is a method restoring missing teeth, especially in the case of severely resorbed edentulous patient. But the direct contact between bone and implant surface, induces stress concentration to the bone and eventually becomes a cause. The purpose of this study was to compare the stress distribution patterns between following two cylindrical implant models. One group has implant apex located in the inferior cortical bone and the other in the cancellous bone. Anterior edentulous mandible was modeled with two dimensional 953,878 nodes, 995,918 elements and compared the deflection and stress distribution under the 70 N,4 load cases for 26 models having variant mandibular height and length. The result were as follows; 1. The stress concentration was more affected by the height of the mandible than implant length. 2. Bicortication mitigates the stress of upper cortical and cancellous bone area at the same height of the mandible 3. Perforation of the inferior mandibular cortex significant stress concentration. 4. Stud type porstheses induced less stress concentration to the cortical and cancellous bone than bar type prostheses. 5. Stress of implant apex for stud type was larger than that of bar type.
The influence of calcium phosphate (Ca-P) coating on the bone response of titanium implants was investigated two types of titanium implants, i.e. as -machined ,as -machined with Ca-P coating, were prepared. The Ca-P coating produced by OCT Inc technique. These implants were inserted into the left and right femur of beagle dog, After implantation periods of 3 days, 1weeks, weeks, 4weeks, 8weeks, 12weeks. 24weeks, the bone-implant interface was evaluated histologically, histomorphometrically , and removal torque. Histological evaluation revealed no new bone formation around different implant materials after 2weeks of implantation. After 4 weeks, Ca-P coated implants showed a higher amount of bone contact than either of the non coated implants. After 12weeks, bone healing was almost completed. And implant were removed by reverse torque rotation with torque-measuring device. Mean torque values for 4weeks control were 2.375Kgf.cm and experimental were 2.725Kgf.cm. And mean torque values for 8weeks control were 1.25Kgf.cm and experimental were 1.0Kgf.cm On the basis of these findings, we concluded that deposition of a Ca-P coating on an implant has a beneficial effect on the bone response to this implant during the healing phase. Besides implant surface conditions the bone response is also determined by local implant site condition.
PURPOSE. In this study, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of implant surface treatment on cell differentiation of osteoblast cells. For this purpose, three surfaces were compared: (1) a modified SLA (MSLA: sand-blasted with large grit, acid-etched, and immersed in 0.9% NaCl), (2) a laser treatment (LT: laser treatment) titanium surface and (3) a laser and acid-treated (LAT: laser treatment, acid-etched) titanium surface. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The MSLA surfaces were considered as the control group, and LT and LAT surfaces as test groups. Alkaline phosphatase expression (ALP) was used to quantify osteoblastic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cell. Surface roughness was evaluated by a contact profilometer (URFPAK-SV; Mitutoyo, Kawasaki, Japan) and characterized by two parameters: mean roughness (Ra) and maximum peak-to-valley height (Rt). RESULTS. Scanning electron microscope revealed that MSLA (control group) surface was not as rough as LT, LAT surface (test groups). Alkaline phosphatase expression, the measure of osteoblastic differentiation, and total ALP expression by surface-adherent cells were found to be highest at 21 days for all three surfaces tested (P<.05). Furthermore, ALP expression levels of MSLA and LAT surfaces were significantly higher than expression levels of LT surface-adherent cells at 7, 14, and 21 days, respectively (P<.05). However, ALP expression levels between MSLA and LAT surface were equal at 7, 14, and 21 days (P>.05). CONCLUSION. This study suggested that MSLA and LAT surfaces exhibited more favorable environment for osteoblast differentiation when compared with LT surface, the results that are important for implant surface modification studies.
Purpose: The guided bone regeneration (GBR) technique is widely used in periradicular surgery. However, there is still some controversy regarding the effectiveness of GBR in promoting bone healing after periradicular surgery. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the resorbable membrane on the osteointegration of immediate implants in sites with periradicular lesion that had been removed by periradicular surgery. Materials and methods: Six roots of lower second premolars and 15 roots of lower third and fourth premolars of dogs were used as control and experimental teeth, respectively. Periradicular lesions were induced only in the experimental teeth. Twelve weeks later, the control and experimental teeth were extracted and implants were placed immediately. Periradicular lesions were removed with osteotomy, curettage and saline irrigation. Resorbable membranes were used in experimental group 1 but not in experimental group 2. After 12 week of healing period, the implants were clinically not mobile and showed no signs of infection. Data obtained by histomorphometric analysis were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The control group showed a significantly higher bone to implant contact (BIC) ($74.14{\pm}16.18$) than experimental group 1 ($40.28{\pm}15.96$) and 2 ($48.70{\pm}17.75$)(p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference between experimental group 1 and 2. Conclusion: Although BIC in experimental groups were lower than in control group, immediate implant can be successfully placed at extraction socket with periradicular lesion and osseous defect. However, the use of resorbable membrane in bony defect created during periradicular surgery was questioned.
Stain removal on ivory has been, for a long time, considered an undesirable treatment in conservation field because ivory is hygroscopic and anisotropic, having different physical properties in different directions. Cyclododecane, which sublimes at room temperature, has been investigated for its use in conservation field since 1995, as a reversible temporary consolidant, sealing agent or coating, water repellent, and barrier layer. This research aims to remove stains on ivory, temporarily protecting the none-stained area or painted area from methanol, acetone or the aqueous cleaning system using cyclododecane as a hydrophobic sealing agent. This research also aims to obtain information regarding whether cyclododecane can be safely and effectively used on archaeological wet ivory. Melted cyclododecane and saturated solutions of cyclododecane in mineral spirits, and hexanes were applied to ivory samples. Application methods, working properties of cyclododecane on ivory, and effect of cyclododecane coating on moisture content of wet ivory were evaluated. The sealing layer formed by molten cyclododecane or by saturated cyclododecane solution in hexane or saturated cyclododecane solution in mineral spirits did not form a secure contact with the surface of the highly polished ivory. The sealing formed with two different layers, in which saturated cyclododecane solution in hexane was applied initially and then molten cyclododecane was applied over the first layer, was found to securely protect the painted area. When the wet samples were kept in 100% RH environments for a month, active mold growths were observed except in the samples sealed with molten cyclododecane. In conclusion, cyclododecane was an efficient hydrophobic sealing agent to protect painting area while cleaning stains on ivory. It also prevented mold growing on wet ivory and wet bone. Evenness of cyclododecane film on ivory will be determined in UV light. Analytical techniques will include visual observation, polarized light microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope, and Gas Chromatography.
Purpose: The effectiveness of an infection control program is important to hospital quality improvement and decreases of mortality rate and prevalence. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is the most common pathogen causing nosocomial infection. The aim of the study was to identify the most important risk factors for acquiring an MRSA, to evaluate the MRSA incidence rates after the nursing intervention in Neurosurgery intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: Clinical data were collected prospectively from December 2008 until July 2009 in Neurosurgery ICU. The patients were divided into preintervention and postintervention groups. An infection was defined as an MRSA if it occurred 48 hr after admission to the Unit. Infection control program including hand washing, education of health care workers about MRSA, standard precaution and contact isolation of patients were applied for three month. Results: A total of 85 patients were included in the study. Forty-five patients of S. aurerus were detected. Among 45 of S. aurerus, MRSA were isolated from 38 patients. The incidence MRSA rate of postintervention group was 26.9% while incidence MRSA rate of preintervention group was 66.7%. In total, The incidence MRSA rate was 44.7%. The incidence of MRSA have decreased in the postintervention as compared with the preintervention group. Conclusion: The infection control program for MRSA was effective to decrease the MRSA isolation rate. The health care workers regular hand washing, education of nosocomial infection control is important enough to be emphasized.
