  • This paper proposes the algorithm for the output AC voltage control of Z-source inverter by the detection of the input DC voltage and Z-network capacitor voltage. The actual modulation index of the proposed method is detected by the capacitor voltage in Z-network and input DC voltage of three-phase Z-source inverter. Control modulation index for the output voltage control is calculated by the detected actual modulation index and reference modulation index. And, calculated control modulation index is applied to the modified space vector modulation (SVM) for control the output voltage of Z-source inverter. To verify the validity of the proposed method, PSIM simulation was achieved and a DSP controlled 1[kW] three-phase Z-source inverter was producted. The simulation and experiment were performed under the condition that the load was changed in case of the constant input DC voltage and the input DC voltage was changed in case of the load was constant. As a result, we could know that the output phase voltage of Z-source inverter followed to the reference voltage 70[VRMS] despite the load or the input DC voltage were suddenly changed.

  • A 40-MS/sec 10-bit pipelined analog to digital converter (ADC) with a 1.2 Vpp differential input signal is proposed. The implemented pipelined ADC consists of eight stages of 1.5 bit/stage, one stage of 2 bit/stage, a digital error correction block, band-gap reference circuit & reference driver, and clock generator. The 1.5 bit/stage consists of a sub-ADC, digital to analog (DAC), and gain stage, and the 2.0 bit/stage consists of only a 2-bit sub-ADC. A bootstrapped switch with a constant resistance is proposed to improve the linearity of the input switch. It reduces the maximum VGS variation of the conventional bootstrapped switch by 67%. The proposed bootstrapped switch is used in the first 1.5 bit/stage instead of a sample-hold amplifier (SHA). This results in the reduction of the hardware and power consumption. It also increases the input bandwidth and dynamic performance. A reference voltage for the ADC is driven by using an on-chip reference driver without an external reference. A digital error correction with a redundancy is also used to compensate for analog noise such as an input offset voltage of a comparator and a gain error of a gain stage. The proposed pipelined ADC is implemented by using a 0.18-${\mu}m$ 1- poly 5-metal CMOS process with a 1.8 V supply. The total area including a power decoupling capacitor and the power consumption are 0.95 $mm^2$ and 51.5 mW, respectively. The signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) is 56.15 dB at the Nyquist frequency, resulting in an effective number of bits (ENOB) of 9.03 bits.

  • A novel single phase Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) is proposed in this paper to accurately and rapidly estimate the instantaneous phase angle of a grid. A conjugate rotating vector pair is proposed and defined to synthesize the single phase signal in the stationary reference frame. With this concept, the proposed PLL innovatively sets one phase input of the PARK transformation to a constant zero. By means of a proper cancellation, a zero steady state phase angle estimation error can be achieved, even under magnitude and frequency variations. The proposed PLL structure is presented together with guidelines for parameters adjustment. The performance of the proposed PLL is verified by comprehensive experiments. Satisfactory phase angle estimation can be achieved within one input signal cycle, and the estimation error can be totally eliminated in four input cycles for the most severe conditions.

  • This research proposed feature extraction algorithms as an input of STEP Ap214 data, and feature parameterization process to simplify further design change and maintenance. The procedure starts with suppression of blend faces of an input solid model to generate its simplified model, where both constant and variable-radius blends are considered. Most existing cell decomposition algorithms utilize concave edges, and they usually require complex procedures and computing time in recomposing the cells. The proposed algorithm using reference features, however, was found to be more efficient through testing with a few sample cases. In addition, the algorithm is able to recognize depression features, which is another strong point compared to the existing cell decomposition approaches. The proposed algorithm was implemented on a commercial CAD system and tested with selected industrial product models, along with parameterization of recognized features for further design change.

  • This paper considers a global asymptotic output tracking problem with a prescribed constant reference signal for a class of single-input and single output-output nonlinear systems. It is shown that under some mild conditions on such a system there is a smooth output feedback achieving global asymptotic output tracking and such a smooth output controller is explicitly constructed by a new design method proposed. The usefulness of our result is illustrated by a numerical example.

  • A mathematical modeling for a magnetic levitation system is proposed using the Taylor series expansion of differential function for obtaining linearity. It is confirmed that this kind of linear approximation method can be used to the modeling of a magnetic levitation system. The two-degree-of-freedom optimal servo system for a constant reference signal is proposed using the LQ optimization technique. An additional state feedback is introduced at the output of the integrator to cancel the integral action for reference signal if there is no modeling error of the plant and no disturbance input to the plant. When the modeling error or the disturbance input exists, the integral effect appears. The system has a free parameter which can b used to tune the effect of the integral compensation.

  • In order to reject the steady-state tracking error, it is common to introduce integral compensators in servosystems for constant reference signals. However, if the mathematical model of the plant is exact and no disturbance input exists, the integral compensation is not necessary. From this point of view, a two-degree-of-freedom(2DOF) servosystem has been proposed, in which the integral compensation is effective only when there is a modeling error or a disturbance input. The present paper considers a synthesis problems of this 32DOF servosystem with direct transfer term in the system representation. And, a method how we may obtain a gain such that desirable transient response is achieved, is proposed in the presence of the modelling error and disturbance input.

  • It is necessary to measure the current of rotor for controlling the active and reactive power generated by the stator side of the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) system. There are offset and scaling errors in the current measurement. The offset and scaling errors cause one and two times current ripples of slip frequency in the synchronous reference frame of vector control, respectively. This paper proposes a compensation method to reduce their ripples. The stator current is variable according to the wind force but the rotor current is almost constant. Therefore input of the rotor current is more useful for a compensation method. The proposed method adopts the synchronous d-axis current of the rotor as the input signal for compensation. The ripples of the measurement errors can be calculated by integrating the synchronous d-axis stator current. The calculated errors are added to the reference current of rotor as input of the current regulator, then the ripples are reduced. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents adaptive fuzzy controller which is uncertainty or unknown variation in different parameters with nonlinear system of helicopter. The proposed adaptive fuzzy controller applied TSK(Takagi-Sugeno-Kang) fuzzy system which is not only low number of fuzzy rule, and a linear input-output equation with a constant term, but also can represent a large class of nonlinear system with good accuracy. The adaptive law was designed by using Lyapunov stability theory. The adaptive fuzzy controller is a model reference adaptive controller which can adjust the parameter $\theta$ so that the plant output tracks the reference model output. First of all, system of helicopter was considered as stopping state, and design of controller was simulated from dynamics equation with stopping state. Results show that it is controlled more successfully with a model reference adaptive controller than with a non-adaptive fuzzy controller when there is a modelling error between system and model or a continuous added noise in such unstable system.
