기혼남성의 성장기 가정폭력 노출경험과 부부기능 및 갈등해결방식과의 관계 -광주지역 기혼남성을 대상으로- (The Influence of Married Men′s Exposure to Domestic Violence during Childhood and Adolescence on Their Marital Function and Conflict Resolution Style -Focusing on Married Men in Gwangju Area-)

  • This study examined how married men's experience of domestic violence during childhood and adolescence influences on their marital function and conflict resolution style. The SPSS 10.0 for Windows was used to analyze data obtained through 412 married men who live in Gwangiu. Major findings were as follows : 1. The marital function was different by the experience of abuse by parents and witness of father-to- mother abuse. 2. The conflict resolution style was different by the experience of abuse by parents and the witness of father-to-mother abuse. 3. The witness of father-to-mother abuse had the strongest impact on married men's marital function and their conflict resolution style . As the result of the study. it concludes that the exposure to domestic violence during childhood and adolescence has a negative effect on a marital relationship.

조직원의 성격유형에 따른 갈등관리방식의 차이가 조직커뮤니케이션 만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study about the Effects of Organizational Members' Personality Types and Conflict Resolution Styles on the Organizational Communication Satisfaction)

  • 이 논문은 조직원의 성격유형에 따른 갈등관리방식의 차이와 조직커뮤니케이션 만족도의 관계를 알아보았다. 또한 조직원들의 다양한 개인적 속성(성별, 경력, 직위, 조직규모 등)이 이런 관계에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 알아봄으로써, 조직커뮤니케이션 만족에 대한 보다 종합적이고 진전된 연구결과를 도출하고자 하였다. 분석결과, 조직원의 성격유형 중에서 사고표명도만이 갈등관리방식에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 감정 차원보다는 의견 표명의 차원, 곧 자신의 의견을 적극적으로 표명하는지의 여부가 조직커뮤니케이션 만족도와 직접적으로 관련있는 변인이었다. 조직원의 개인적 속성 중에서는 직위와 성별 차이가 갈등관리방식의 선호에 영양을 미치는 변인이었다. 조직커뮤니케이션 만족에 상대적으로 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 조직원의 개인적 속성보다는 갈등관리방식 차이였다. 조직커뮤니케이션을 업무와 관계의 차원으로 나누었을 때, 관계적 커뮤니케이션 만족도에는 문제해결, 타협의 갈등관리방식이, 업무적 커뮤니케이션 만족도에는 이들 외에 비난과 강요 방식이 유의미한 관계가 있었다. 조직커뮤니케이션 만족도에 영향을 미치는 다양한 변인들 중에서 가장 큰 관계가 있는 것은 문제해결의 갈등관리방식이었다. 갈등상황에서 적극적으로 문제를 해결하는 방식을 선호하는 조직원일수록 관계와 업무의 구분과 상관없이 조직커뮤니케이션에 대한 만족도가 높았다. 이런 연구결과는 조직원의 성격유형을 파악하는 것뿐 아니라, 이에 따른 갈등관리 스타일과 업무 성격의 일치 여부가 조직성과 관리에서 중요하다는 사실을 시사하고 있다. 마지막으로 이 연구는 분석 자료의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

부와 모의 갈등해결양식이 청소년의 욕설사용에 미치는 영향: 공격성의 매개역할 (The Influence of Mother's and Father's Conflict Resolution Styles on Adolescents' Use of Swear Words: The Mediating Role of Aggression)

  • 본 연구에서는 부와 모와의 갈등해결양식(공격적 절충적)이 청소년의 욕설사용에 미치는 영향과 부와 모와의 갈등해결양식과 청소년의 욕설사용과의 관계에서 공격성이 매개효과가 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구를 수행하기 위해 G도의 3개시 소재 6개 학교 중학생 570명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 최종적으로 477부를 선정하여 연구 자료로 사용하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모와의 공격적 갈등해결양식이 청소년의 욕설사용에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 부와 모와의 갈등해결양식과 청소년의 욕설사용과의 관계에서 공격성이 매개효과를 가지는 지에 대해서 알아본 결과, 부와 모의 공격적 갈등해결양식과 욕설사용과의 관계에서 공격성이 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 청소년과 부모사이의 갈등이 적절하게 해결되지 못하면 공격성을 축적시켜서 욕설사용이 증가되는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 본 연구결과는 청소년과 부와 모와의 공격적 갈등해결양식이 공격성을 상승시키는 방식을 통하여 간접적으로 청소년의 욕설사용을 촉발함을 확인하였다는 데에 그 의의가 있으며, 이 결과가 현재 사회의 큰 문제가 되고 있는 학교폭력과 연관 될 수 있는 청소년 자녀의 욕설사용을 감소시킬 수 있는 부모교육 프로그램의 개발의 기초자료로 활용 될 수 있기를 기대한다.

The Moderating Role of Emotional Intelligence on the Relationship Between Conflict Management Styles and Burnout among Firefighters

  • Background: While the organizational factors that account for firefighters' burnout have been extensively explored, the individual factors related to how they regulate interpersonal conflicts and emotions remain to be investigated. Previous research has demonstrated the association between emotional intelligence and conflict management styles and burnout, but no study has looked at the interrelationships among these factors in high-risk sectors. The present exploratory study aimed to fill this research gap by investigating the relationships between conflict management style, emotional intelligence and burnout in a sample of firefighters. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 240 French firefighters. Measures comprised validated scales of conflict management styles, emotional intelligence and burnout. Results: Results showed that the integrating conflict style reduced burnout. They also revealed the effects of emotion regulation on burnout, whereby the awareness and management of one's own emotions reduced burnout. Moreover, awareness of one's own emotions moderated the relationship between integrating conflict resolution style and burnout, whereby the effect of integrating style on reduced burnout was higher when awareness of one's own emotions was high. Conclusion: These results reveal that strategies used by firefighters to regulate their emotions in order to meet the emotional demands specific to their job are important for reducing the emotional exhaustion component of burnout. Training programs for conflict and emotion management are needed to preserve the mental health of firefighters and ensure the safety of interventions.

초등학생의 성별, 문화성향과 친구간 갈등해결전략 (Gender, Cultural Disposition and Peer Conflict Resolution Strategies of Elementary School Children)

  • In this study, characteristics of cultural disposition and peer conflict resolution strategies and the relationship between cultural dispositions and peer conflict resolution strategies of elementary school children were investigated. In order to achieve this research purpose, the following research questions were established. First, what are the characteristics of cultural dispositions that children have? Second, what are the characteristics of conflict resolution strategies that children use? Third, what are the relationships between cultural dispositions and peer conflict resolution strategies? The subjects of this study were 564(283 male and 281 female) 5th and 6th graders. Research instruments used to collect data were INDCOL and Conflict Resolution Strategy Scale. Collected data were analyzed using Descriptives, t-test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, Cross-tabs and Two-way ANOVA. As a whole, children strongly showed collectivistic pattern and there were no sex differences in terms of cultural dispositions. The distributions of styles were in the order of HC>VI>VC>HI. The distribution of conflict resolution strategies generally were in the order of integrating and compromising>Avoiding>Dominating>Obliging for total sample and there were significant sex differences in the styles of conflict resolution strategies. This study also found that there were significant correlations between cultural dispositions and conflict resolution strategies. integrating/compromising and dominating style were different according to cultural dispositions but there were no interactive effect of sex and cultural dispositions in conflict resolution strategies. Finally, the implications of this study on theory and practice were discussed and suggestions for further study were made.

갈등관리스타일에 영향을 미치는 퍼스낼리티 요인: 성격 5요인(Big Five Factors), 자아존중감, 자기감시를 중심으로 (The Effects of Adolescent's Big-Five Personality Factors, Self-Esteem and Self-Monitoring on Their Conflict Resolution Management Style)

  • 본 연구는 청소년기의 고등학생들을 대상으로 이들의 갈등관리유형을 또래간의 관계를 중심으로 파악하고, 이같은 갈등유형이 성격 5요인, 자아존중감, 및 자기감시와 어떤 관계가 있는지 살펴보았다. 먼저 성격 5요인이 갈등관리스타일에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 살펴 본 결과 친화성, 성실성, 외향성, 개방성이 높을수록 협력전락을 더 많이 사용하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 신경불안증이 높고, 친화성과 외향성이 낮을수록 공격전략을 더 많이 구사하는 것으로 드러났다. 성실성, 외향성, 개방성이 낮고 신경불안증이 높을수록 회피전략을 더 많이 사용하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 자아존중감과 자기감시가 청소년의 갈등관리스타일에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 살펴본 결과 자아존중감이 높을수록 협력전략을 더 많이 사용하는 반면 공격전략과 회피전략은 더 적게 표출하는 것으로 나타났다. 자기감시 정도가 높을수록 갈등상황에서 협력전략을 더 많이 사용하는 반면 회피전략은 더 적게 행사하는 것으로 분석되었다.

Legal Culture and Commercial Arbitration in the United States and Japan

  • In this paper, a conceptual model of legal culture based on Ehrlich's "living law" theory and Cole's social-cultural explanation can explain the low utilization rates of arbitration of Japan and the high utilization rates of arbitration in the United States, simultaneously. This model highlights the clash between social norms and legal provisions in Japan. Japan has developed a two-tiered system of dispute resolution. At the official level, Japanese people accept the legal system imposed by the outside world. But, at a deeper level, they utilize diverse forms of informal dispute resolution mechanisms, such as reconcilement and conciliation, reflecting their own social norms. In contrast, there is no conflict between social norms and legal provisions in United States. This study may show that there are distinctions between American-style arbitration and Japanese-style arbitration, reflecting their own respective social norms. The question of reconciliation between the American style of arbitration and the Japanese style of arbitration can be resolved by an international arbitrator.

Cultural Aspect of Conflict Behaviour in Construction -A Case Study from Turkey

  • Although much research has been conducted to identify the influence of culture on conflict management and resolution behaviours in organizational settings, no study has been done yet in the construction industry particularly in considering the influence of individual level individualistic and collectivistic values. Despite the key role of self-construal in explaining or predicting behaviour in interpersonal conflict, it has not received enough attention in construction management. Reflecting this necessity, the objective of this exploratory study was to establish, through the application of the Rahim Organizational Inventory (ROC II) instrument, how the cultural values of professionals of construction businesses relate to the application of different conflict-handling styles through self-construal. Data were collected using questionnaire surveys from construction professionals working in contracting firms. The findings illustrate the importance of self-construal type as an individual-level cultural variable in explaining the differences in the style of handling interpersonal conflict in the context of the construction industry.

This research performed a comparative study to analyze the nature and evolving phenomenon of conflicts in IT project teams. This study aimed at; First, Why a conflict is created within and around an IT project team. Second, What is the phenomenon of conflict evolution, diffusion, and/or resolution? Third, How the differences in conflict management style affects the IT project performance? Three propositions were drawn from the analysis of two intensive analysis of conflict cases and their comparison. Proposition 1 : Both 'the method of pointing out a problem' and 'the pointed-out contents' can be the trigger of conflicts around an IT project. Proposition 2 : While the focus of attention of one party is 'the method of pointing out a problem', if the other's and focus of attention of one party is 'the pointed-out contents', that is, if the focus of attention mismatch, the conflict can be amplified. Proposition 3 : According to the temporal nature of the relationship, e.g., short-term versus long-term, the way people approach and deal with the conflict differs.
