  • In the application of the BIPV system, it is expected that the workability is lowered due to the difficulty in securing the space for wiring in the frame and the performance of the frame due to the wiring hole processing is lowered. Therefore, In this study, we propose a method to improve the wiring of the inner space of the BIPV frame, and through the simulation evaluation process, the thermal and condensation performance are secured by complementing the problems caused by the hole machining, and the time and effort required for BIPV construction are reduced. For this purpose, a wiring treatment method using a flange insertion tube was proposed, and the thermal and condensation performance was evaluated through simulation analysis.

  • Condensation has mainly occurred in corridor type apartment door which is exposed to the outside air and is made of steel, which has high thermal conductivity. As a result, the total costs of repair have increased with the number of disputes with residents. In this study, therefore, we investigate materials and construction methods used in apartment door, perform a computer simulation to find out possible improvements, and then suggest the dew point to prevent the occurrence of condensation throughout simulation. The results indicate that the temperature that condensation does not occur is $15.4^{\circ}C$, and the optimum method of achieving this dew point is shown to be a door frame system including a large vertical slot to decrease the area of thermal conduction between the outer and inner portions of the door frame. Mock-up tests show that the surface temperature of the door frame was higher than the dew point, and the system can withstand severe cold conditions of $-20^{\circ}C$. In application test, the surface temperature of door frame with vertical slots is $5.9^{\circ}C$in average, which is higher than the existing door frame. Furthermore, in the temperature distribution of the surrounding door measured with infrared ray camera, the existing door shows the high temperature distribution indicating lack of insulation, but the improved door shows the low temperature distribution indicating higher insulation.

  • In this study, we made RFC, RCC and NCC according to the method by which polypropylene capillary tube was adopted, and evaluated cooling performance of each system through model experiments. We also investigated an applicability of the combined use of radiant cooling and dehumidification system. The results are as follows: In case of normal cooling load, RFC and RCC maintained set temperature without a condensation. But, in case of peak cooling load, RFC and RCC resulted in the lack of cooling performance and caused a condensation at the radiation surface. Consequently, the only use of polypropylene capillary tube is considered not to be enough for cooling in real application. Using the combination of a dehumidification and radiant cooling system maintained the set temperature without a condensation. NCC kept the set temperature at anytime without a condensation. It is more economic than packaged air-conditioner system due to the cooling effect of the floor surface.

  • LH has installed sashes to the balcony to save energy and increase residential space. Then, it is very difficult to protect a condensation of vapor on the walls in the winter time, because the space is closed and the wall surface temperature becomes very low in a balcony. We have tried to get the optimal thermal design methods to reduce the condensation on the walls. The one of the chosen method is to make holes on the walls, and then the condensation shall be reduce because the dew point temperature will be lower due to the effect of dehumidify. In this case, it is just necessary to find as like that how many holes should be perforated through the wall, what's their size, and where is their positions. In this study, a computational fluid dynamics was applied to analyze the temperature, the pressure and the velocity distribution for an incompressible flow in the balcony spaces. And field tests were also carried out to get the data to compare to the simulation results. Finally the design criteria of the ventilation holes in the balconies was suggested by analysis of the computer simulation models.

  • The thermal comfort of an indoor swimming pool is different from that of general indoor space because of the characteristics of large space and the wear conditions of swimmers. Dew condensation by humid air not only makes mold on the floor, wall and roof but also decreases the durability of buildings by penetrating into their structures. In this study, the characteristics of the flow field, the temperature field and the humidity distribution in an indoor swimming pool have been examined by the numerical method to estimate the level of thermal comfort and the generation rate of dew condensation. The results showed that the dew condensation regions were spread widely at the eastern parts of the swimming pool due to the insufficient air flow rate with low velocity and temperature. To prevent the generation of dew condensation in a region, a sufficient warm air flow rate should be supplied to make an air mixing. The values of PMV at horizontal plane of 1.5 m height have the range of -1.0∼1.2, which means the suitable level for swimmers.

  • Bulk cargo loaded into ship can be damaged by various kinds reasons. This paper aims to analyze about cargo damage of coil carrier ship due to condensation. Condensation is the formation of liquid drops of water from water vapor. Condensation consists of small drops of water which form when warm water vapour or steam touches a cold surface such as a window. In general, condensation have occurred by temperature difference at large building and ship's tank. It is phenomenon that can occur often to oceangoing vessel moving temperature difference places in similar time. This paper proposes a new method using dehumidification device and fan heater to prevent bulk cargo damage of coil carrier ship from condensation.

  • This paper describes a condensation-evaporation method (CEM) to produce size-controlled spherical silver nanoparticles by perturbing coagulation and coalescence processes in the gas phase. Polydisperse silver nanoparticles generated by the CEM were first introduced into a differential mobility analyzer (DMA) to select a group of silver nanoparticles with same electrical mobility, which also enables to make a group of nanoparticles with elongated structures and same projected area. These silver nanoparticles selected by the DMA were then in-situ sintered at ${\sim}600^{\circ}C$, and then they were observed to turn into spherical shaped nanoparticles by the rapid coalescence process. With the assistance of modified converging-typed quartz reactor, we can also produce the 10 times higher number concentration of silver nanoparticles compared with a general quartz reactor with uniform diameter. Finally, the spherical silver nanoparticles with 30 nm were electrostatically deposited on the surface of silicon substrate with the coverage rate of ~4%/hr. This useful preparation method of size-controlled monodisperse silver nanoparticles developed in this work can be applied to the various studies for characterizing the physical, chemical, optical, and biological properties of nanoparticles as a function of their size.

  • We applied a new charging system using the condensation and evaporation method to charge the submicron particles with a uniform charging performance. The monodispersed NaCl submicron particles were condensed by n-butanol vapor and grew up to micron droplets with a same size, regardless of their initial size. Those condensed droplets were charged in an indirect corona charger. The indirect corona charger consisted of the ion generation zone and the particle charging zone. In the ion generation zone, Ions were generated by corona discharge and some of them moved into the particle charging zone by a carrier gas and mixed with the condensed droplet. And finally, the charged and condensed droplets dried through an evaporator to shrink to their original size. The average charge and penetration rate of the particles before and after evaporation were measured by CPC and aerosol electrometer and compared with those of a conventional corona charger. The results showed that the average charge was $5\~7$ charges and the penetration rate was over $90\%$, regardless of the initial particle size.
