  • We developed a test bank system which dynamically adjusts to students' achievement levels. In order to dynamically calculate the student's achievement level, our system uses the question-response theory which is usually adopted to CAT. The system proposes appropriate questions depending on the students' achievement levels so that they can do self-directed and individualized learning. The system consists of pre-test, main learning, and review stages. In the pre-test stage, the intellectual level of the student is examined to determine the starting point in the main stage. In the main learning stage, individualized learning is performed. Finally, a review session is added to re-examine the questions that the student gave wrong answers. The output from the learning process of the system is not the usual test scores but the level of the student's intellectual ability which is produced through the question-response theory. The intellectual ability level index objectively measures the degree of improvement of the student's learning ability.

  • This paper proposes and evaluates empirically a new recommendation method in order to improve the learning achievement of learners using case-based method. In this paper, we first carried out a survey targeting teachers who work currently in Gyeongbuk area, and constructed learning cases depending on critical factors of learning. We next recommended differentiated learning methods to learners classifying according to learning cases by achievement level through this survey. The students of a middle school took part in the experiment in order to evaluate empirically the proposed learning cases. The students were divided into three groups by their achievement level and three separate learning cases were applied to each group. The weights among learning improvement elements applying to each group were added through the survey result of teachers. The experiment using the proposed case-based recommendation method showed that the learning achievement of learners is improved considerably compared to the previous one.

  • The major functions of the digital textbooks that have been developed recently were focused on electronic whiteboard, learning tools, multimedia. But supporting contents retrieval was not included yet. This study is aimed to develop an elementary digital textbook that supports retrieval function. We surveyed elementary teachers about the requirements for search function and a digital textbook was designed and implemented based on the result of the survey. The distinctive feature of the developed digital textbook, which is written in XML, is that it is enabled to search the units of meaningful phrases. The survey which was carried out after using the new digital textbook showed that more than 90% of the teachers think that it is quite useful in class and they would like to use this textbook in their class. If a retrieval function can be added to the digital textbook which is going to be supplied to elementary schools, it will be a lot helpful for teaching and learning procedure.

  • In the COVID-19 situation, digital textbooks have been used in many schools. In order for digital textbooks to become active even in the post COVID-19 era, the functions of digital textbooks must be improved. Digital textbooks are traditional book-type textbooks with glossaries, video materials, and evaluation questions added. Recently, they are being used usefully for practical education by providing realistic contents such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and 360 images. Therefore, in this study, in order to prepare for the post COVID-19, we found the functional problems of digital textbooks and suggested a way to improve them. First, the layout of digital textbooks should be developed as a responsive layout, deviating from the same form as a book-type textbook. Second, digital textbooks and learning management systems must be integrated. Third, by developing a digital textbook for teachers, teachers should be able to directly reorganize the contents or add external materials. Fourth, learning analysis should be possible using data recorded in digital textbooks. Fifth, in the 2022 revised curriculum, various subjects should be developed as digital textbooks.

  • The education of radiologic technology began in the regular institute of higher education in Korea in 1963. Up to now from then, our education to bring up the radiologic technologists has developed greatly in quality and quantity, and now departments of radio-technology are founded in the 16 junior colleges in March, 1995. This study was done to verify the necessity and propriety to reform the education system of radiologic technology which was run as two or three year system of college curriculum for 32 years since 1963, and to search for the method to reform in the future. We got the following results from this research. 1. In the survey, on the desirable education year for radiologic technologists, 63.9 % of professors of department of radio-technology and 63.0 % of radiologic technologists chose the 4 year system, 27.9 % of professors and 34.6 % of radiologic technologists chose the 4 year system added to graduate school. 2. In the survey, on the future development of radiologic equipments and technique, 67.2 % of professors of department of radiologic technology and 86.4 % of radiologic technologists have a view of "revolutional development". Also, on the future tasks or roles of radiologic technologists 95.1% of professors and 94.9% of radiologic technologists have a view that "They will increase". 3. On the necessity of extension of education year to 4 years from 3 years, the factor is that development of medical technique and machinery and tools, advance of qualification of radiologic technologists, enlargement and specialization of the business of the radiologic technologists, ballance of education year with other medical sciences, international competitive power and cooperation of radiologic technology, and education continuation of the graduates of department of radiologic technology. 4. • Of the vast number of plant taxa in the world, the wood is one of the most useful resources. It is important to identify the fibers of wood and pulp for the plant taxonomy and for the uses, but we do not have enough information on them, on them, especially for the computerizd data. The fiber identification is one of the difficult tasks. In addition to the plant taxonomy and the fiber-using industries, such identification is also important in many other fields, including education. document examiners, etc. For these purpose, the fibers should be exactly distinguished. The TISS system I have programed to identify various woods would also be useful in the identification of fibers by the genus and species in the features of unknown samples and in searching the features of a species based on its scientific name. Such searching programs are being developed in many other countries with a view to searching for the species name by using the features of the cells of the woody materials. With the survey of all the available literature, the features of the fibers of 124 species both of softwood and hardwood were examined under the electron and optical microscopies. Each species were coded and carded by the feature, and the databases were built. The microscopic were inputted into a personal computer program called and by a slide film scanner. The new computer program called TISS 2 was developed using C computer language. Korean language fonts were added to the TISS 2. The TISS 2 can be in adding and searching a image of fiber features both of a known fiber and an unknown fiber. The databases were corded for the DELTA system with was developed by Dallwitz and Paine in Australia, 1986.

  • The PMIPv6 is a network controlled mobility management protocol in which mobile nodes never participate in IP mobility protocol signaling. One issue in using PMIPv6 for multicast service is that a new component should be added as the mobility management functions are located not on the device but on the network. Currently, standardization activities for providing muticast services with PMIPv6 have been actively in progress. This paper addresses some issues about the on-going standardization works for providing efficient real-time multicast services with PMIPv6, and proposes a scheme for minimizing hand over delays and packet losses by using a new neighbor cell reporting method. The proposed scheme has been verified to outperform the existing scheme in hand over delay and packet loss perfonnrmces by using computer simulations.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate music therapists'use and perception of computer-based music technology. Questionnaires were distributed either electronically or in-person to 367 music therapists with credentials. Of the 367 initially distributed questionnaires, 101 were returned and 61 were analyzed after excluding 40 incomplete responses. The survey was comprised of two sections: the use of music technology and perceived importance of music technology in music therapy practice. The results showed that 65.6% of the respondents had used music technology in their clinical practice. The most frequently used type of music technology was Finale, followed by Garage band, and Cubase. With regard to the areas where music technology was used, it was implemented primarily for adolescents for musical or emotional goals, and was applied most frequently as a musical resource. In addition, most respondents showed a positive attitude toward music technology and added that they would need to be trained to use music technology for their clinical practice. These results provide practical information on how music therapists use and perceive computer-based music technology, and its implication for music therapy clinical practice.

  • MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is an online course aimed at limited participation and open access via the web. There is even the prospect that MOOC may break down the existing university system and open a new horizon of education. However, MOOC is going differently from the first prospect that it would threat the existing higher education institutions. So this study wishes to provide a starting point of discussion that we can produce and utilize MOOC to fit our situation of higher education by revealing the inherent problems of MOOC. MOOC is a basically online education, so that it cannot help inheriting the essential weakness of the existing one: the interaction, supervision and evaluation. The newly added concept 'massive' raises the problem of class size which is the most sensitive part in the field of education. The concept 'open' reverses a customized education because MOOC is a kind of video clips of a lecture for unspecific massive learners. As a conclusion, we predicts that MOOC will be positioned as a higher education service for very prominent learners in self-led learning ability and people who cannot access even traditional online higher education institutions. Also MOOC is highly likely to be used as a means of Flipped Learning in universities. Therefore, considering these points in the future, we need to develop MOOC to suit these targets.
