Novel Syntheses of 5-Aminothieno[2,3-c]pyridazine, Pyrimido[4',5':4,5]thieno[2,3-c]pyridazine, Pyridazino[4',3':4,5]thieno-[3,2-d][1,2,3]triazine and Phthalazine Derivatives

  • Condensation of 4-cyano-5,6-dimethyl-3-pyridazinone 1 with aromatic aldehydes gave the novel styryl derivatives 2a-c. Refluxing of compound 2a with phosphorus oxychloride furnished 3-chloropyridazine derivative 3. Compound 3 was reacted with thiourea and produced pyridazine-3(2H)thione 4. Thieno[2,3-c]- pyridazines 5a-e were achieved by cycloalkylation of compound 4 with halocompounds in methanol under reflux and in the presence of sodium methoxide. Also, refluxing of compound 4 with N-substituted chloroacetamide in the presence of potassium carbonate afforded thienopyridazines 6a-e. Cyclization of compound 6 with some electrophilic reagents as carbon disulfide and triethyl orthoformate furnished the novel pyrimido[4',5':4,5]thieno[2,3-c]pyridazines 12 and 13a-c, respectively. Diazotisation of compound 6 with sodium nitrite in acetic acid produced the pyridazino[4',3':4,5]thieno[3,2-d][1,2,3]triazines 14a-c. Ternary condensation of compound 1, aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile in ethanol containing piperidine under reflux afforded the novel phthalazines 16a-c. Compound 3 was subjected to some nucleophilic substitution reactions with amines and sodium azide and formed the aminopyridazines 17a, b and tetrazolo[1,5-b]-pyridazine 19, respectively. The structures of the synthesized compounds were established by elemental and spectral analyses.

Effect of $CO_2$ Content on the Growth and Corrosion Characteristics of the Compound Layers in Gaseous Nitrocarburized Carbon Steels (가스 질화침탄처리한 탄소강의 화합물층 성장 및 부식특성에 미치는 $CO_2$함량의 영향)

  • This study has been performed to investigate the effect of $CO_2$ content on the growth characteristics of the compound layer, porous layer and corrosion characteristics of carbon steels after gaseous nitrocarburizing in $70%-NH_3-CO_2-N_2$ at $580^{\circ}C$ for 2.5 hrs. The results obtained from the experiment were the thickness of the compound and porous layers increased with increasing $CO_2$ contents. At the same fixed gas composition the thickness of the compound and porous layer increased with increasing carbon content of the specimens. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that compound layer was mainly consisted of ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}(N,C)$ and ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Fe_4N$ as the increased with $CO_2$ contents in atmosphere, compound layer was chiefly consisted of ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}(N,C)$ phase. With increasing $CO_2$ content and total flow rate in gaseous nitrocarburizing, the amount of ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}(N,C)$ phase in the compound layer was increased. The current density of passivity decreased with increasing $CO_2$ content due to the development of porous layer at the out most surface of ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}(N,C)$.

  • With a purpose of finding out the effects of magnesium and boron enriched organic-compound fertilizer application on qualities of grasses on the hilly pasture, a field experiment was arranged with five different treatments as a randomized block design and lasted from September, 1984 to the end of growing season in 1986. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Mean chemical components except NFE of grasses at the plots with organic-compound fertilizer application were appeared to contain slightly high comparing to single dressing. 2. Production of DCP with organic-compound fertilizer (1,170.2 kg/ha) was significanty increased by 20% comparing to single dressing (975.7 kg/ha) in the conventional fertilization level (p<0.05), but it was not significantly different between them in the low dressing level. 3. Production of energies (TDN, StE and NEL) with organic-compound fertilizer of low and conventional dressing level were appeared to increase by 10 and 13 to 15% than those of single dressing of the same levels, respectively. But it was not significant difference. 4. Like single dressing nutrient productions with organic-compound fertilizer were appeared significantly high due to increasing of dressing gradually (P<0.05-0.01) 5. Mineral contents of P and Mg at the plots with organic-compound fertilizer were a little higher, on the other hand, K, C/P and K/Ca + Mg equivalent ratio were slightly lower than those of single dressing, but the content of Ca tended to similar between them.

Korean Compound Noun Decomposition and Semantic Tagging System using User-Word Intelligent Network (U-WIN을 이용한 한국어 복합명사 분해 및 의미태깅 시스템)

  • We propose a Korean compound noun semantic tagging system using statistical compound noun decomposition and semantic relation information extracted from a lexical semantic network(U-WIN) and dictionary definitions. The system consists of three phases including compound noun decomposition, semantic constraint, and semantic tagging. In compound noun decomposition, best candidates are selected using noun location frequencies extracted from a Sejong corpus, and re-decomposes noun for semantic constraint and restores foreign nouns. The semantic constraints phase finds possible semantic combinations by using origin information in dictionary and Naive Bayes Classifier, in order to decrease the computation time and increase the accuracy of semantic tagging. The semantic tagging phase calculates the semantic similarity between decomposed nouns and decides the semantic tags. We have constructed 40,717 experimental compound nouns data set from Standard Korean Language Dictionary, which consists of more than 3 characters and is semantically tagged. From the experiments, the accuracy of compound noun decomposition is 99.26%, and the accuracy of semantic tagging is 95.38% respectively.

[ $G_1$ ] Phase Arrest of the Cell Cycle by a Ginseng Metabolite, Compound K, in U937 Human Monocytic Leukamia Cells

  • We recently reported that the ginseng saponin metabolite, compound K (20-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyra-nosyl-20(S)-protopanaxadiol, IH901), inhibits the growth of U937 cells through caspase-dependent apoptosis pathway. In this study, we further characterized the effects of compound K on U937 cells and found that, in addition to apoptosis, compound K induced the arrest of the G1 phase. The compound K treated U937 cells showed increased p21 expression; an inhibitory protein of cyclincdk complex. The up-regulation of p21 was followed by the inactivation of cyclin D and the cdk4 protein, which act at the early $G_1$ phase, and cyclin E, which acts at the late $G_1$ phase. Furthermore, compound K induced the activation of JNK and the transcription factor AP-1, which is a downstream target of JNK. These findings suggest that the up-regulation of p21 and activation of JNK in the compound K treated cells contribute to the arrest of the $G_1$ phase.

The Study on the fabrics of Gilt-Bronze Shoes Found at the Tomb of King Mu-Ryeong of Baekje (백제 무령왕릉 출토 금동리(金銅履) 수착 직물 연구)

  • This study is considered about the fabrics culture of Baekje Period by analyzing the fabrics pieces at a inner part of the It-bronze shoes found at the tomb of King Mu-ryeong in 1971 AD. The analysis methods of the fabrics pieces are a photographing of fabrics pieces surface by VMS, Digital camera(Nikon Coolpix 995) and the analysis of samples by SEM, XRD and FT-IR. It is assumed this fabrics pieces are the inner shoes, which consisted of compound woven silk at outward, some of tabby and a hemp at inward and the braids for decoration, of the gilt-bronze shoes. The features are as follows. 1. All of compound woven silk are the warp-faced compound tabby of plain fabrics and the density is various from high to low one. Compound woven silk which is attached the gilt-bronze shoes of the tomb of King Mu-ryeong weaves in high density by a thick thread. The fibers material of compound woven silk prove to be a silk by the analysis of wrap samples by SEM, XRD and FT-IR. 2. Tabby are excavated under the condition which attached on reverse side of compound woven silk. Those ran classify two types. First, the fine weaving by high density of wrap and weft. Second, the loose warp weaving with one warp and some of weft. 3. Hemp is almost ramie by SEM analysis and the density is different. Ramie which supposed to be attached Guem has the very low density. In addition to, Ramie pieces, excavated in condition and weaved finely, proved the conspicuous weaving skill in Baekje period. 4. Various kinds of braid are found and these ones classifies by fiber material and entwining way. Two types out of these are the one of silk thread, decorates the upper, middle parts of compound woven silk shoes and the other of hemp thread, decorates the lower parts.

The influence of treatment time on the microstructure of plasma nitrocarburised compound layer (플라즈마 침질탄화처리시 처리시간이 화합물층의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Plasma nitrocarburising is a thermochemical heat treatment, and can be used for plain carbon steels and low alloy steels to improve wear, corrosion and fatigue resistance. The process is performed on automotive parts, machinery parts and engineering tools. However, it is still facing problems in obtaining a mono $\varepsilon$ phased compound layer. Therefore, the aim of this research is to investigate the possibility of forming a mono $\varepsilon$ phased compound layer using a gas mixture of nitrogen and methane. It was found that high nitrogen contents were essential for the production of $\varepsilon$ phase compound layer and with increasing methane content in the gas mixture, $\varepsilon$ phase compound layer was favoured. In addition, when the methane content was further increased, cementite was observed in the compound layer. $\gamma$' phase was produced after 10 minutes treatment time and cementite was formed in the compound layer resulting in decreasing the thickness of the compound layer.

Studies on the Evolution of the Surface Roughness with Development of Surface Compound Layer in Salt Bath Nitrocarburising (Tufftride) (침질침탄시 화합물층의 성장에 따른 표면조도 변화에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, to find out the reason of deterioration in surface roughness of steel and cast iron after Tufftride, it has been investigated on the relation between the surface roughness and various factors such as the evolution of compound layer, surface morphology, and surface hardness, and change of pore ratio in the compound layer during Tufftride at $580^{\circ}C$. It is found that the surface roughness was increased with the evolution of compound layer during Tufftride of steel and cast iron. The change of surface roughness after Tufftride was reduced with decreasing tho content of carbon and cementite ($Fe_3C$) in the materials. in the cast irons, the various shaped graphites that was exposed to the surface should induce the discontinuous growth of the compound layer, and this resulted in the incoherent interfaces between matrix and compound layer and the deterioration of surface roughness. In the steels, the existence of cementites in the matrix resulted in the incoherent interfaces between matrix and compound layer. It is considered that during Tufftride the surface roughness must be mainly influenced by the formation of the incoherent interface between compound layer and matrix that is affected by some factors such as the microstructure, the composition, and the hardness of the matrix.

Tolerability and pharmacokinetics of ginsenosides Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Rd, and compound K after single or multiple administration of red ginseng extract in human beings

  • Background: We investigated the tolerability and pharmacokinetic properties of various ginsenosides, including Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Rd, and compound K, after single or multiple administrations of red ginseng extract in human beings. Methods: Red ginseng extract (dried ginseng > 60%) was administered once and repeatedly for 15 days to 15 healthy Korean people. After single and repeated administration of red ginsengextract, blood sample collection, measurement of blood pressure and body temperature, and routine laboratory test were conducted over 48-h test periods. Results: Repeated administration of high-dose red ginseng for 15 days was well tolerated and did not produce significant changes in body temperature or blood pressure. The plasma concentrations of Rb1, Rb2, and Rc were stable and showed similar area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) values after 15 days of repeated administration. Their AUC values after repeated administration of red ginseng extract for 15 days accumulated 4.5- to 6.7-fold compared with single-dose AUC. However, the plasma concentrations of Rd and compound K showed large interindividual variations but correlated well between AUC of Rd and compound K. Compound K did not accumulate after 15 days of repeated administration of red ginseng extract. Conclusion: A good correlation between the AUC values of Rd and compound K might be the result of intestinal biotransformation of Rb1, Rb2, and Rc to Rd and subsequently to compound K, rather than the intestinal permeability of these ginsenosides. A strategy to increase biotransformation or reduce metabolic intersubject variability may increase the plasma concentrations of Rd and compound K.

  • The antifungal activity of methanol extracts against dermatophytes was the highest at root-bark methanol extract, and the highest inhibitory effect was revealed in petroleum ether fraction of root-bark methanol extract. Compound I and compound II with significant antifungal activity were isolated from the fractions by silica gel column chromatography. As a result of the instrumental analyses, compound I and compound II were already known alkaloids. Compound I was identified as 4-methoxyfuro[2,3-6]quinoline (dictamnine ; $C_{12}H_9NO_2$) and compound II was identified as 4-methoxy-lmethyl-2(1H)-quinolinone ($C_{11}H_{11}NO_2$). The MIC of compound I against T. mentagrophytes and T. rubrum was $40{\mu}g/m\ell$ and the MIC of compound II against the same fungi was $800{\mu}g/m\ell$.
