The purpose of this study is to examine to control of glucose level and the occurrence of chronic complications of diabetes by compliance groups with health care regimen The subjects were consisted of 300 out patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from beginning of March through the end of April in 2001, who visited at the endocrinology department at Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital of Catholic University in Seoul. The patient's compliance level with health care regimen was assessed at questionnaire. However, the blood glucose level and the occurrence of chronic complications of diabetes were assessed at medical record review. The data were analyzed by SAS program for chi square test and t-test. The results were as follows. 1. Significant differences were found among the factors such as duration of diabetes, the number of participation of diabetes educational program, job, smoking, self monitoring of blood glucose and the methods of diabetes therapy between high and low compliance groups. High compliance group patients had a diabetes longer than low compliance group patients. High compliance group patients more frequently attended the educational program and checked themselves monitoring blood glucose than low compliance group patients. Also, they did not work recently, smoked less and got more insulin injection therapy compared to low compliance group patients. 2. No significant differences were found among the result of fasting blood glucose. 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, and $HbA_{l}c}$ between high and low compliance groups. 3. The occurrence rate of macrovascular complications of chronic complications of diabetes were lower, however, the occurrence rate of microvascular complications were higher in high compliance group than in low compliance group with health care regimen.
In this paper, the dynamic compliance and its compensation control of the force control system on the highly integrated valve-controlled cylinder (HIVC), the joint driver of the hydraulic drive legged robot, is researched. During the robot motion process, the outer loop dynamic compliance control is applied on the base of hydraulic control inner loop and most inner loop control are the force or torque closed loop control. While the dynamic compliance control effectiveness of outer loop can be affected by the inner loop self-dynamic-compliance. Based on this problem, the dynamic compliance series composition theory of HIVC force control system as well as the analysis of its self-dynamic-compliance is proposed. And then the paper comes up with the compliance-enhanced control, which is a compound compensation control method of dynamic compliance with multiple series branches. Finally, the experiment results indicate that the control method mentioned above can enhance the dynamic compliance of HIVC force control system observably. This provides the compensation control method of inner loop dynamic compliance for the outer loop compliance control requiring the high accuracy and high robustness for the robot.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among perceived health status, exercise self-efficacy, social support, and exercise compliance and factors influencing exercise compliance in older adults in an area. Methods: The sample consisted of 154 older adults who attended a senior welfare center in D metropolitan city. Data were collected from the 25th to the 31th of January in 2012. Results: The mean score for perceived health status was 2.94, 911.69 for exercise self-efficacy, 46.99 for social support, and 6.83 for exercise compliance. The highest score on social support domains was emotional support, followed by self-esteem, material, and informational support. There were significant correlations between perceived health status and exercise self-efficacy, between perceived health status and exercise compliance, between exercise self-efficacy and social support, between exercise self-efficacy and exercise compliance, between emotional support and exercise compliance. Findings of multiple regression indicated that only exercise self-efficacy significantly explained exercise compliance. Conclusion: Health care providers may need to develop various intervention program to promote exercise self-efficacy in order to influence on exercise compliance and adherence among older adults.
Up to the present, finger replantation patients have complained about various symptoms because of blood circulatory failure. Objective evaluation methods for the level of the blood circulatory failures in fingers were needed other than patient's subjective symptoms and complaints. Photoplethysmogram(PPG) measured from fingers is very useful for evaluation of vascular aging and sclerosis level since the PPG signal represents characteristics of peripheral vascular. Several researchers have reported that second derivative of the finger PPG waveform was useful to evaluate vascular compliance and developed various analysis methods for vascular compliance. However, vascular compliance study for finger replantation patient was never evaluated by using second derivative of PPG. Therefore, we aimed to objectively compare and to assess normal and replanted finger vascular compliance using the second derivative of PPG waveform in this study. The evaluated factors of second derivative of PPG are 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e' and b/a represents vascular compliance. Study found out that when vascular compliance is decreased, b/a is increased, the absolute value of b/a is decreased. For 43 finger replantation patients, the average vascular compliance of replanted finger is lower than the normal finger statistically(p=0.001). we suggested an objective evaluation of finger vascular compliance for finger replantation patients and effect of surgical operation.
Recently, the prevalence rate of diabetes in Korea has been increasing rapidly due to high growth of economy and changes in dietary lifestyle. Vascular complication is one of diabetic complications which have frequently occurred by obesity, hyperglycemia and impaired glucose metabolism. Photoplethysmogram(PPG) measured from finger and toe is very useful for evaluation of vascular aging and sclerosis level since the PPG signal represents characteristics of peripheral vascular. Several researchers have reported that second derivative of the finger PPG waveform was useful to evaluate vascular compliance and developed various analysis methods for vascular compliance. However, peripheral vascular compliance study for diabetic patient was never evaluated by using second derivative of PPG. Therefore, we aimed to objectively compare and to assess normal and diabetic group vascular compliance using the second derivative of PPG waveform in this study. The evaluated factors of second derivative of PPG are 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e' and b/a represents vascular compliance. Study found out that when vascular compliance is decreased, b/a is increased, the absolute value of b/a is decreased. The average vascular compliance of 50 diabetic patients with neuropathy is statistically lower than the normal group(p<0.05). We suggest an objective evaluation of peripheral vascular compliance for diabetic patients and prevention of vascular complication.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of knowledge, attitude and compliance with standard precautions and to identify predicting factors of compliance with standard precautions in ICU and ER nurses. Methods: The participants were 228 ICU and ER nurses working in one of three university hospitals and one general hospital. Collected data included general characteristics, features related to infection risk, and knowledge, attitude and compliance with standard precautions. For the final analysis, 218 questionnaires were used. Results: Within the previous one year, 103 (47.3%) nurses experienced pricking injury from syringe needles or other sharp materials, 111 (50.9%) nurses reported exposure to patients' blood and body fluid. In general, the scores for knowledge, attitude and compliance were all high. Compliance scores for nurses in intensive care units were significantly higher than those of nurses in emergency. There were significant correlations of knowledge, attitude, and compliance with standard precautions. Attitude and work place were significant factors predicting compliance with standard precautions. Conclusion: The results indicate that to increase nurse's compliance with standard precautions, continuous efforts to enhance positive attitudes and at the same time, improve work environments and use individualized approaches based on the work units are needed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify compliance of kidney transplantation(=KT) recipients and the factors influencing on compliance of KT recipients. Methods: One hundred patients who visited out-patients department after KT at S hospital transplant center in Seoul were enrolled in this study. Structured questionnaires of compliance, self-efficacy and family support were used to collect data. The data was collected from April 21 to May 21 in 2011. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient. Statistical significance was accepted to the level of p<.05. Results: The mean score of compliance was 4.37(range from 1 to 5), and that of medication compliance was the highest and that of self care compliance was the lowest. There were no differences of compliance according to characteristics of the subjects. Compliance of the subjects had positive correlation with self-efficacy(r=0.23, p<0.05) and family support(r=0.33, p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be concluded that the nursing intervention program to improve self care using self-efficacy and family support need to be developed.
In this paper for an object grasped by a robot hand to work in stiffness control domain we first investigate the number of fingers for successful stiffness modulation in the object operational space. Next we propose a new compliance control method for robot hands which consist of two steps. RIFDS(Resolved Inter-Finger Decoupling Solver) is to decompose the desired compliance characteristic specified in the op-erational space into the compliance characteristic in the fingertip space without inter-finger coupling and RIJDS(Resolved Inter-Joint Decoupling Solver) is to decompose the fingertip space without inter-finger coupling and RIJDS(Resolved inter-Joint Decoupling Solver) is to decompose the compliance characteristic in the finger-tip space into the compliance characteristic given in the joint space without inter-joint coupling. Based on the analysis results the finger structure should be biominetic in the sense that either kniematic redundancy or force redundancy are required to implement the proposed compliance control scheme, Five-bar fingered robot hands are used as an illustrative example to implement the proposed compliance control method. To show the effectiveness of the proposed compliance control method simulations are performed for two-fingered and three-fingered robot hands.
Purpose: This study was to identify the influencing factors of the compliance level to a therapeutic regimen after a bone mineral densitometry test. Method: The sample for the study was 95 people who took the bone mineral densitometry test from March, 2002 to July, 2002. Data was collected by mail using aself reporting questionnaire on the selected variables such as the compliance level, self efficacy, health locus of control, susceptibility, severity, usefulness, barrier, and self esteem. Results: The average compliance level was 63.93. Through multiple regression, three independent variables including chance health locus of control on personality, the result of bone mineral density and self-efficacy were entered in the model as the significant determinants of the compliance level after a bone mineral densitometry test. The coefficients of determination of each variable were 10.9%, 8.3% and 8.1% respectively. Conclusion: The identification of the determinants of the compliance level to the therapeutic regimen after bone mineral densitometry is expected to contribute to the development of an intervention program to improve the compliance level to the therapeutic regimen in osteoporosis patients.
In this paper, the stability and effectiveness of the force control with a 6-axis compliance device are verified by performing comparative experiments with a commercial F/T sensor. The position/force control algorithm based on the Cartesian stiffness of a compliance device is briefly introduced and the design result of a 6-axis compliance device with F/T sensing is presented. The comparative experiments show that the force control using a compliance device is much more stable than that with rigid F/T sensor due to the enough compliance of a compliance device larger than robot positional resolution.
