  • Let H be a Schrodinger operator in $L^2$(R) H =(equation omitted) + V(x), with supp V ⊂ [-R, R]. A number $z_{0}$ / in the lower half-plane is called a resonance for H if for all $\phi$ with compact support 〈$\phi$, $(H - z)^{-l}$ $\phi$〉 has an analytic continuation from the upper half-plane to a part of the lower half-plane with a pole at z = $z_{0}$ . Thus a resonance is a sort of generalization of an eigenvalue. For Im k > 0, ($H - k^2$)$^{-1}$ is an integral operator with kernel, given by Green's function(omitted)

  • In the present paper, we obtain a new formula for the generalized Weyl differintegral operator in a compact form avoiding the occurrence of infinite series and thus making it useful in applications. Our findings provide interesting generalizations and unifications of the results given by several authors and lying scattered in the literature.

  • We have developed CNS(Compact Nuclear Simulator) which can be used for the fundamental training of the nuclear power plant operators. The application software for CNS consists of simulation engine(analyzer code), instructor station software, and man-machine interface software. Each application software is regarded as one black box and the communication of black boxes is performed by the predefined shared memory variables. In this paper, we discuss our experience for CNS development.

  • When an accident occurs in the nuclear power plant, the faulted information might mislead to the high possibility of aggravating the accident. At the Fukushima accident, the operators misunderstood that there was no core exposure despite in the processing of core damage, because the instrument information of the reactor water level was provided to the operators optimistically other than the actual situation. Thus, this misunderstanding actually caused to much confusions on the rapid countermeasure on the accident, and then resulted in multiplying the accident propagation. It is necessary to be equipped with the function that informs operators the status of instrument integrity in real time. If plant operators verify that the instruments are working properly during accident conditions, they are able to make a decision more safely. In this study, we have performed various tests for the fault detection sensitivity of an data-driven empirical model to review the usability of the model in the accident conditions. The test was performed by using simulation data from the compact nuclear simulator that is numerically simulated to PWR type nuclear power plant. As a result of the test, the proposed model has shown good performance for detecting the specified instrument faults during normal plant conditions. Although the instrument fault detection sensitivity during plant accident conditions is lower than that during normal condition, the data-drive empirical model can be detected an instrument fault during early stage of plant accidents.

  • This study developed a comprehensive and easily applicable nuclear reactor control system evaluation method using reactor operators behavioral and mental workload database. A proposed control panel design cycle consists of the 5 steps: (1) finding out inconvenient, erroneous, and mentally stressful factors for the proposed design through evaluative experiments, (2) drafting improved design alternatives considering detective factors found out in the step (1), (3) comparative experiements for the design alternatives, (4) selecting a best design alternative, (5) returning to the step (1) and repeating the design cycle. Reactor operators behavioral and mental workload database collected from evaluative experiments in the step (1) and comparative experiments in the step (3) of the design cycle have a key roll in finding out defective factors and yielding the criteria for selection of the proposed reactor control systems. The behavioral database was designed to include the major informations about reactor operators' control behaviors: beginning time of operations, involved displays, classification of observational behaviors, dehaviors, decisions, involved control devices, classification of control behaviors, communications, emotional status, opinions for man-machine interface, and system event log. The database for mental workload scored from various physiological variables-EEG, EOG, ECG, and respir- ation pattern-was developed to indicate the most stressful situation during reactor control operations and to give hints for defective design factors. An experimental test for the evaluation method applied to the Compact Nuclear Simulator (CNS) installed in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) suggested that some defective design factors of analog indicators should be improved and that automatization of power control to a target level would give relaxation to the subject operators in stressful situation.

  • Let B and S be the unit ball and the unit sphere in $\mathbb{C}^n$, respectively. Let ${\sigma}$ be the normalized Lebesgue measure on S. Define the Privalov spaces $N^P(B)\;(1\;<\;p\;<\;{\infty})$ by $$N^P(B)\;=\;\{\;f\;{\in}\;H(B) : \sup_{0 where H(B) is the space of all holomorphic functions in B. Let ${\varphi}$ be a holomorphic self-map of B. Let ${\mu}$ denote the pull-back measure ${\sigma}o({\varphi}^{\ast})^{-1}$. In this paper, we prove that the composition operator $C_{\varphi}$ is metrically bounded on $N^P$(B) if and only if ${\mu}(S(\zeta,\delta)){\le}C{\delta}^n$ for some constant C and $C_{\varphi}$ is metrically compact on $N^P(B)$ if and only if ${\mu}(S(\zeta,\delta))=o({\delta}^n)$ as ${\delta}\;{\downarrow}\;0$ uniformly in ${\zeta}\;\in\;S. Our results are an analogous results for Mac Cluer's Carleson-measure criterion for the boundedness or compactness of $C_{\varphi}$ on the Hardy spaces $H^P(B)$.

  • Given operators X and Y acting on a separable complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator A such that AX=Y. In this article, we show the following: Let $Alg\mathcal{L}$ be a tridiagonal algebra on a separable complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ and let $X=(x_{ij})\;and\;Y=(y_{ij})$ be operators in $\mathcal{H}$. Then the following are equivalent: (1) There exists a normal operator $A=(a_{ij})\;in\;Alg\mathcal{L}$ such that AX=Y. (2) There is a bounded sequence $\{\alpha_n\}\;in\;\mathbb{C}$ such that $y_{ij}=\alpha_jx_{ij}\;for\;i,\;j\;{\in}\;\mathbb{N}$. Given vectors x and y in a separable complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator A such that Ax=y. We show the following: Let $Alg\mathcal{L}$ be a tridiagonal algebra on a separable complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ and let $x=(x_i)\;and\;y=(y_i)$ be vectors in $\mathcal{H}$. Then the following are equivalent: (1) There exists a normal operator $A=(a_{ij})\;in\;Alg\mathcal{L}$ such that Ax=y. (2) There is a bounded sequence $\{\alpha_n\}$ in $\mathbb{C}$ such that $y_i=\alpha_ix_i\;for\;i{\in}\mathbb{N}$.

  • The correct situation awareness (SA) of operators is important for managing nuclear power plants (NPPs), particularly in accident-related situations. Among the three levels of SA suggested by Ensley, Level 3 SA (i.e., projection of the future status of the situation) is challenging because of the complexity of NPPs as well as the uncertainty of accidents. Hence, several prediction methods using artificial intelligence techniques have been proposed to assist operators in accident prediction. However, these methods only predict short-term plant status (e.g., the status after a few minutes) and do not provide information regarding the uncertainty associated with the prediction. This paper proposes an algorithm that can predict the multivariate and long-term behavior of plant parameters for 2 h with 120 steps and provide the uncertainty of the prediction. The algorithm applies bidirectional long short-term memory and an attention mechanism, which enable the algorithm to predict the precise long-term trends of the parameters with high prediction accuracy. A conditional variational autoencoder was used to provide uncertainty information about the network prediction. The algorithm was trained, optimized, and validated using a compact nuclear simulator for a Westinghouse 900 MWe NPP.
