  • Submarine Optical Fiber Cable Link becomes a major transmission madi a in many countries and Continents thanks to development of low attenuation fiber and its capability of carryung broadband data. United States of America and Japan are aggressively planning to construct international submarine optical fiber links in North-East Asia. But the links do not connect Korea and Korea becomes isolated in the international communication network. This paper shows a strategy on submarine optical fibre cable links that make Korea a HUB station in North East As a without heavy investment.

  • The ever unsatisfied demand for more channel and bandwidth to the limited installalion of existing communication facilities, and explosively increasing expanses for the cable installation fee force us to revive once patented but unused idea of multlplexign in time, that is, PCM in telephony. The authors designed, artworked and prototyped PCM 24 since 1972 and tested the first PCM chaulel Hank between Noryang Jin and yang see stations to prove that the resust of their PCM 24 Channel Bank implementation is viable and promissing.

  • We study emotion regulation in a distant CABLe (Collaborative Argumentation Based-Learning) setting at university. We analyze how students achieve the group task of synthesizing the literature on a topic through scientific argumentation on the institutional Moodle's forum. Distinguishing anticipatory from reactive emotional regulation shows how essential it is to establish and maintain a constructive working climate in order to make the best out of disagreement both on social and cognitive planes. We operationalize the analysis of anticipatory emotional regulation through an analytical grid applied to the data of two groups of students facing similar disagreement. Thanks to sharp anticipatory regulation, group 1 solved the conflict both on the social and the cognitive plane, while group 2 had to call out for external regulation by the teacher, stuck in a cyclically resurfacing dispute. While the institutional digital environment did afford anticipatory emotional regulation, reactive emotional regulation rather occurred through complementary informal and synchronous communication tools. Based on these qualitative case studies, we draw recommendations for fostering distant CABLe at university.

  • BIM having started from architecture is being used in civil structure, but there are very few examples despite its effectiveness. In this paper, based on BIM technology, it is presented the method and result of developing web-based 5D system connecting cost, schedule and 3D model from the cable-stayed bridge. Through the system, the user can understand easily schedule on specific time and during some period and extract cost directly. This system also can manage various data types such as drawings, 3D models, documents and photos, for enhanced communication between stakeholders.

  • Visible light communication (VLC) offers communication function in addition to illumination. Because the signal communication capacity per cable is 1,000 times compared to the power line communication (PLC), optical fiber is being advertised as the basis of the information and communication. Also dimming control of LED is an important component needed to provide energy savings and quality of life. This study configured multi-hop VLC system model in a building using optical fiber and analyzed the power performance of two of modulations using dimming techniques. The transmission power and received power were used to compare the power performance in multi-hop VLC environments.

  • A coaxial-cable impedance transformer used in wideband frequency range is generally restricted to the fixed impedance transformation ratio as n2:1 or 1:n2(n: the number of coaxial cables). In this paper, we propose a new coaxial-cable impedance transformer to have an arbitrary impedance transformation ratio. We have fabricated three impedance transformers($50-{\Omega}$ to $25-{\Omega}$, $50-{\Omega}$ to $20-{\Omega}$ and $50-{\Omega}$ to $9-{\Omega}$) to confirm the operation characteristic of the suggested impedance transformer. The reflection characteristics (S11) of the fabricated $50-{\Omega}$ to $25-{\Omega}$ and $50-{\Omega}$ to $20-{\Omega}$ impedance transformer were less than -15dB over about 3-octaves frequency range and the reflection characteristic (S11) of the fabricated $50-{\Omega}$ to $9-{\Omega}$ impedance transformer was less than -15dB over about 1-octave frequency range, respectively.

  • In this paper deals with PON Remote monitoring solution using Reflecting Filter. The current FTTH-PON can not be monitored in real time that Optical cable fault and Quality degradation of Splitter. To solve this problem, Monitoring can make Feeder Network and Splitter that Reflecting filter development using the basic structure of Fiber Bragg grating. Reflecting Filter is Quality Monitoring System shall provide tools for user to view and analyze degradation of cables and splitter in particular predict any gradual component degradation(Optical cable bending, splice, connector, etc) before it becomes service impacting. The Reflecting Filter solution is splitter down and confirm the fault location of optical cable and it will send central control station can be monitored system an alarm to the OLT. In other words, wavelength side branches Mating existing communication affairs (Coupler) using the core of one optical wavelength for live monitoring two wavelengths and sends the subscriber side modem and aggregation switch device remotely using a reflective optical line filter monitoring the study of the system. this study can development of Reflecting filter improve the average processing time of Optical cable fault and efficient Maintenance of the network.

  • In recent years, the need to simultaneously transmit a variety of signals, such as DVI(Digital Visual Interface), audio, video, USB(Universal Serial Bus), LAN from the computer is required. So the cable complexity and scalability issues have been raised. In this paper, this signal can be distributed using a single USB cable, computer, video, audio, USB, LAN, one USB multi-signal transmission system was designed and implemented. USB multi-signal transmission was implemented in order to convert a single DVI, audio, and multiple USB, LAN, USB signal converter modules. This USB DVI port supports up to 1920 * 1080 resolution. USB multi-signal transmission system by sending multiple signals into a single cable installation costs of the various cable and using the replication feature of the screen, will provide schools and institutes, etc., providing the convenience of the river, and the scalability of computer peripheral ports.

  • Increasing attention is being recently devoted to various problems inherent in the topological design of networks systems. The topological structure of these networks can be based on service centers, terminals (users), and connection cable. Lately, these network systems are well designed with tiber optic cable, because the requirements from users become increased. But considering the high cost of the fiber optic cable, it is more desirable that the network architecture is composed of a spanning tree. In this paper, we present a GA (Genetic Algorithm) for solving bicriteria network topology design problems of wide-band communication networks connected with fiber optic cable, considering the connection cost, average message delay, and the network reliability We also employ the $Pr\ddot{u}fer$ number (PN) and cluster string in order to represent chromosomes. Finally, we get some experiments in order to certify that the proposed GA is the more effective and efficient method in terms of the computation time as well as the Pareto optimality.

  • In this paper, solar-powered, multi-scale, vibration-impedance sensor node on Imote2 platform is presented for hybrid structural health monitoring (SHM) in cable-stayed bridge. In order to achieve the objective, the following approaches are proposed. Firstly, vibration- and impedance-based hybrid SHM methods are briefly described. Secondly, the multi-scale vibration and impedance sensor node on Imote2-platform is presented on the design of hardware components and embedded software for vibration- and impedance-based SHM. In this approach, a solar-powered energy harvesting is implemented for autonomous operation of the smart sensor nodes. Finally, the feasibility and practicality of the smart sensor-based SHM system is evaluated on a full-scale cable-stayed bridge, Hwamyung Bridge in Korea. Successful level of wireless communication and solar-power supply for smart sensor nodes are verified. Also, vibration and impedance responses measured from the target bridge which experiences various weather conditions are examined for the robust long-term monitoring capability of the smart sensor system.
