  • This paper aims to illuminate the role of serial context among industry, academia and government, taking much care of the role of society and community in the sustainable regional planning and practice. This paper is composed of five chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects. In In chapter 1, we give the little long introduction of the time of mutation and significance of locus that explains the conceptual background and framework of this paper. In chapter 2, we elaborate on the mutation and metamorphosis of structural, social, and natural changes in the world and especially Japan. In chapter 3 and chapter 4, the main chapters of this paper, we describe the evolution of academic town in megalopolis, the revitalization of technopolis, and the creative local culture of the World Heritage for the regional renaissance in Japan. In chaper 5, we conclude this paper. As for this illumination, we should pay more due regards to the locus, orbit and iconography of region to develop better hosting environment and habitat for global innovation of industry-academia-government collaboration's serial contexts through sustainable tourism and tourism sustainability. Especially, at the time of natural and social mutation, we could not look over the heavy and sudden natural unexpected changes, the deep structural social and community changes in Japan, and war and terrorism in Asia on the global scene for sustainable rejuvenation.

  • Purpose - The main feature of this study is understanding of the vendor's opportunism on the collaboration context between buyer and vendor from the buyer's viewpoint with resource dependence theory. A number of studies on opportunism have focused on opportunistic definitions and its theoretical studies. Other researches emphasize the importance of governance in ways that reduce opportunism. We think that this research could be filled with the lack of previous studies. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to accomplish research purpose, four hypotheses have been established based on the framework of resource dependence theory and previous studies. And we have used 599 survey data jointly collected by Korea Productivity Center and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. To verify these hypothesis, we have conducted multiple regression analysis with SPSS 23.0. Results - The vendor 's opportunism decreases as mutual trust with buyer becomes higher. However, as the degree of dependence of buyers on vendor resources increases, vendor's opportunism increases. And monitoring vendor's capacity has a moderating effect with buyer resource dependency to vendor's opportunism. Conclusions - This study suggest there are two options to decrease vendor's opportunism. Increasing mutual trust or decrease dependence on vendor's resources. Also, monitoring suppler's capacity could be effective when vendor's resource dependence is high.

  • This study examines the impact of online collaborative English language learning to enhance learner motivation and classroom engagement in university English instruction. The role of learner motivation and classroom engagement has gained much attention under the premises of current constructivist framework of English as a foreign language education. To promote learner motivation and classroom interaction in English instruction, participants in this study engaged in integrative English learning activities through online group collaboration and peer-tutoring. They exchanged productive peer response and shared their learning experiences throughout the integrative English learning activities. Digital technology played an integral role in motivating the learning process of the participants. Data for this study were gathered through an online questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed based on the ARCS motivational model of instructional design to identify the motivational aspects of integrative English learning activities. This study reveals that participants of this study regarded online collaborative English learning activities as the positive and motivating learning experience. The online collaborative English reading instruction had positive effect on improving EFL university students' learning performance. Participants of this study also identified affective and metacognitive benefits of online collaborative EFL learning activities for learner motivation and classroom engagement. This study reveals that the social networking platform in online group collaboration played a crucial role for the participants in understanding the integration of online group collaboration as the positive and effective language learning strategy. This study may have implications in suggesting the effective instructional design for promoting learner motivation and classroom interaction in EFL education.

  • A Telepresence service is an advanced video conferencing service at aimed providing remote users with the feeling of being present together at a particular location for a face-to-face group meeting. The effectiveness in this type of meeting can be further increased by automatically recognizing the audiovisual behaviors of the video conferencing users, accurately inferring their level of engagement from the recognized reactions, and providing proper feedback on their engagement state. In this paper, we review the recent developments of such engagement analysis techniques being utilized in various applications, such as human-robot interaction, content evaluation, telematics, and online collaboration services. In addition, we introduce a real-time engagement analysis framework employed in our telepresence service platform for an increased participation in online group collaboration settings.

  • MDO is one of the efficient methods for huge and multi -functional system design. This paper describes a design collaboration framework with MDO in networked design environment. A prototype of web -based integrated design system was implemented to show sharing and exchange of models and analysis information between MDO modules and collaborative design stations. Server System consists of MDO modules for optimization and modeling module for 3D modeling operation. Client system provide user with graphic interface for shape modeling and system operation. We believe that the proposed approach can be extended to solve real complex multidisciplinary design problems.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine a theoretical framework for the interactions of learning in a small group setting of mathematical problem solving. Many researchers already have described the theoretical background for the small group settings in problem solving. However, most of the literatures merely have reported findings of achievement and rising of test scores. They ignored the observation of process taken during the small group work and have not determined how various psychological, social and academic effects are created. As results of the study, two types, mutual collaboration and asymmetric collaboration, of interactions are observed as the interactions of learning, which are conceived as the cores of authentic mathematical activities.

  • In this paper, we investigate the inter-organizational information systems effect to supply chain partnerships, and subsequently to the performance. The conceptual model for the causal relationships among interorganizational systems usage, interaction, partnership, and supply chain performances has been developed. Theoretical framework is based on the partnership research in relationship marketing area, and the interaction model from IMP group. The questionnaires are designed to test the hypotheses of the conceptual model. The survey result supports our hypotheses that collaborative IT effects to increase the interaction between the firms, and interaction causes to enhance the partnership quality. Also, the level of partnership shows strong positive correlation with the supply chain performances. Despite the limitations of collected sample data size, our study reveals the fact that inter-organizational information systems contribute to supply chain performance through enhancing the interaction and partnership level between the supply chain partners. Our research result is distinct from the most extant literatures that investigated the firm's collaboration impact on interorganizational systems usage.

  • We present project updates of the next-generation infrared space mission SPICA (Space Infrared Telescope for Cosmology and Astrophysics) as of November 2015. SPICA is optimized for mid- and far-infrared astronomy with unprecedented sensitivity, which will be achieved with a cryogenically cooled (below 8 K), large (2.5 m) telescope. SPICA is expected to address a number of key questions in various fields of astrophysics, ranging from studies of the star-formation history in the universe to the formation and evolution of planetary systems. The international collaboration framework of SPICA has been revisited. SPICA under the new framework passed the Mission Definition Review by JAXA in 2015. A proposal under the new framework to ESA is being prepared. The target launch year in the new framework is 2027/28.
