In plate forming technology, cylindrical drawing process is widely used in industry due to technological development. In this study, we used stainless steel 3042B and stainless steel 304J1, which are the most commonly used materials in the production of cold and hot water tanks for water purifiers, among cylindrical drawing products. Under the same conditions, the thickness of the sidewall of the product formed by drawn experiment was studied. As a result of the experiment, the bottom thickness of stainless steel 304J1 was considered to be thick. It is judged that the defect rate can be reduced by changing the breaking phenomenon of the floor surface of the cold and hot water bottles to the material of stainless steel 304j1. Stainless steel 304 2B material shows a sharp change in thickness from punch corner R to sidewall position, while stainless steel 304J1 material showed a uniform change from punch corner R to sidewall position. Stainless steel 304J1 material is considered to improve the clamping of the product in the process of extracting the product after hand drawing. The appearance of stainless steel 3042B products is considered to produce more wrinkles in the flange, which exerts greater tensile force on the sidewall during molding, resulting in uneven sidewall thickness.
Hyundai${\cdot}$Kia Motors have developed PEMFC stack technologies for passenger car application in 1998. The developed 80kW class stack, which was installed Kia's Sportage FCV in 2005, has been modified for -10$^{\circ}C$ cold start-up and ensuring the stability and durability by using new technologies such as newly designed separator, manifold block, end plate, and so on. And also, the stack durability has been verified over 1,500hrs with the condition of combined vehicle driving mode. Hyundai${\cdot}$Kia Motors will keep continuing the stack R&D to reach the goal of FCV commercialization.

The effects of annealing temperature and time on mechanical properties and microstructures were studied in cold drawn pearlitic steel wires containing 0.84wt% Si. Annealing was performed from $200^{\circ}C$ to $450^{\circ}C$ with different time of 30sec, 1min, 15min and 1hr. The increase of tensile strength at low temperature was related with strain ageing. The decrease of tensile strength at high annealing temperature was related with spherodization of cementite and the occurrence of recovery of the lamellar ferrite in the pearlite. The improvement of ductility was connected with spherodization of cementite plate in pearlite and recovery process by reduction of high dislocation density at short time annealing temperature of $400^{\circ}C$.

In this paper, Experimental results on the measurement of mechanical properties of fine patterns in the MEMS structure are described. The mechanical properties of embossing patterns on metallic thin foil is measured using the nano indentation system, that is developed by Korea Institute of Industrial Technology(KITECH). These micro embossing patterns are fabricated using CIP(Cold Isostatic Press) process on micro metallic thin foils(Al-1100) that are made by rolling process. These embossing patterned metallic thin foils(Al-1100) are used in the reflecting plate of BLU(Back Light Unit) and electrical/mechanical MEMS components. If these mechanical properties of fine patterns are utilized in a design procedure, the optimal design can be achieved in aspects of reliability as well as economy.
The characteristics of underwater welding of SWS490 steel were investigated. The bead-on-plate type welding with one or three pass using ilmenite and water-proofed type electrodes was performed by varying welding currents and the sizes of electrodes used. The amounts of hydrogen absorbed inter the weld metal were measured according to the JIS Z 3118 specification and the results were interpreted in terms of the cold cracking behaviours of the welded steel. The microstructural changes as well as the microhardness distribution after underwater welding were also investigated using Vickers microhardness tester and S.E.M (scanning electron microscopy) and O.M (optical microscopy). The results indicated that the cold cracking could be avoided by three pass welding under low current with an electrode with a small diameter.

This paper proposes dimensionless correlations predicting properties of the frost layer formed on a cold flat surface. Experiments are carried out to obtain the correlations with various environmental parameters such as air temperature, air velocity, absolute humidity, and cooling plate temperature. As a result, the frost properties (frost layer thickness, density, surface temperature, thermal conductivity) are correlated as a function of Reynolds number, Fourier number, absolute humidity and non-dimensional temperature by using a dimensional analysis. The correlations agree well with the previous and our experimental data within a maximum error of 10%, and are used to predict the frost properties in the following ranges: Reynolds number of 20216 to 53763, Fourier number of 0.1962 to 2.5128, absolute humidity of 3.22 to 8.47, and non-dimensional temperature of 0.125 to 0.5.

One of the problems in a refrigerator operation is the frost formation on a cold surface of the evaporator. The frost layer is formed by the sublimation of water vapor when the surface temperature is below the freezing point. This frost layer is usually porous and formed on the cold surface of the evaporator. The frost layer on the surface of a evaporator will make side effect such as thermal resistance. However, these important factors have not been used in determining the defrosting period. In this report, a prediction taking into account the change of the fin efficiency due to the growth of the frost layer.
The objective of this work is to describe the main steps involved in the derivation of a GBT (Generalised Beam Theory) formulation to analyse the vibration behaviour of loaded cold-formed steel members and also to illustrate the application and capabilities of this formulation. In particular, the paper presents and discusses the results of a detailed investigation about the local and global free vibration behaviour of lipped channel simply supported columns. After reporting some relevant earlier GBT-based results dealing with the buckling and vibration behaviours of columns and load-free members, the paper addresses mostly issues concerning the variation of the column fundamental frequency and vibration mode nature/shape with its length and axial compression level. For validation purposes, some GBT-based results are also compared with values obtained by means of 4-node shell finite element analyses performed in the code ABAQUS.

This research investigates the internal flow and heat transfer in a plate heat exchanger with chevron shape by utilizing the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software. The basic unit of the plate heat exchanger is generally composed of a hot channel, an intermediate chevron plate, and a cold channel. Several studies have reported experimental and numerical simulation of heat transfer and pressure drop. This study focused on the detailed numerical simulation of flow and heat transfer in the complicated chevron shape channel. The long chevron plate was designed to include 16 chevron patterns. For proper mesh resolution, the number of cells was determined after the grid sensitivity test. The working fluid is water, and its properties are defined as a function of temperature. The Reynolds number ranges from 900 to 9,000 in the simulation. A realizable $k-{\varepsilon}$ model and non-equilibrium wall function are properly considered for the turbulent flow. The friction factors and heat transfer coefficient are validated by comparing them with existing empirical correlations, and other patterned flow phenomena are also investigated.

Thin perforated Steel Plate Shear Walls (SPSWs) are among the most common types of seismic energy dissipation systems to protect the main boundary components of SPSWs from fatal fractures in the high-risk zones. In this paper, the cyclic behavior of the different circular hole patterns under cyclic loading is reported. Based on the experimental results, it can be concluded that a change in the perforation pattern of the circular holes leads to a change in the locations of the fracture tendency over the web plate, especially at the plate-frame interactions. Accordingly, the cyclic responses of the tested specimens were simulated by finite element method using the ABAQUS package. Likewise, perforated shear panels with a new perforation pattern obtained by implementing Topology Optimization (TO) were proposed. It was found that the ultimate shear strength of the specimen with the proposed TO perforation pattern was higher than that of the other specimens. In addition, theoretical equations using the Plate-Frame Interaction (PFI) method were used to predict the shear strength and initial stiffness of the considered specimens. The theoretical results showed that the proposed reduced coefficients relationships cannot accurately predict the shear strength and initial stiffness of the considered perforated shear panels. Therefore, the reduced coefficients should be adopted in the theoretical equations based on the obtained experimental and numerical results. Finally, with the results of this study, the shear strength and initial stiffness of these types of perforated shear panels can be predicted by PFI method.
