  • The purpose of this study was to collect research related to virtual clothing conducted in Japan with virtual clothing as the keyword, and to understand research trends in the field of virtual clothing, including research timing, content, and methods. By doing so, I attempted to present a direction of travel for future research related to virtual clothing. An analysis of the academic fields of virtual clothing-related journals and dissertations revealed that the fashion field was the most common, followed by the natural sciences and the arts. The distribution of virtual clothing-related studies by year showed a gradual increase after 2000, a decrease between 2016 and 2020, and an increasing trend after the corona pandemic. Marketing was the most common research topic for virtual clothing, followed by virtual fitting, design, materials, and systems. Experimental research was the most common research method related to virtual clothing, followed by survey research and development research. n the future, research on fashion-related system development and verification of the effectiveness of virtual garments is expected to advance. In addition, it would be necessary to analyze trends in virtual clothing research outside of Korea.

  • Since the late 1990, "Smart clothing" has been developed in a various way to meet user centered design and human engineering that considered usability, wearability with clothing. Under this circumstance, research and development of smart clothing has been demanded usability and wearability test. But, Study of the usability evaluation for sensor based smart clothing is insufficient. In this study, we suggest criterion of usability evaluation for sensor based smart clothing that evaluate on the point of view such as wearability of clothing, interaction of clothing and devices, interaction of body and devices. we performed qualitative and quantitative test with developed smart clothing to present usability evaluation criterion for sensor based smart clothing. As a result, total 7 categories such as 'usefulness', 'wearability', 'appearance', 'riskness', 'facility of management', 'perceived change', were extracted as the usability and wearability criterion. Additionally, 28 factors of evaluation criterion for sensor based smart clothing were indicated on the result of this research. This study have meaning to indicate usability evaluation criterion for sensor based smart clothing.

  • This research examined two decades of the U.S. used clothing exports to the world. All countries (209) were classified into four groups based on the level of economic development. Between 1996 and 2012, U.S. used clothing exports shifted away from low-income economies to high-income economies. For the first time, our research demonstrated that the majority of used clothing discarded by American consumers is exported to high-income economies instead of poorest nations of the world. Next, used clothing exports and imports by volume and value in seven high-income countries were analyzed. The high-income countries not only exported but also imported significant amount of used clothing, which indicates a growing demand for worn apparel in developed nations. The demand might be at least partially attributed to the popular vintage clothing trend and increasing consumer environmentalism. Implications regarding development and implementation of a new classification system of worn clothing and recommendations for future research are presented.

For data collection, a questionnaire was administrated to 500 female college students in Gwangju City, Korea. The results were summarized as follows. First, clothing values were divided into six factors: religious clothing value, political clothing value, exploratory clothing value, social clothing value, economic clothing value, aesthetic clothing value. Sensuous clothing behaviors were divided into four factors: see-through, body emphasis, body exposure, skinny. Overall clothing values had positive effects on sensuous clothing behaviors. Second, self-perceived physical attractiveness turned out to have significant effects on overall sensuous clothing behaviors. Third, clothing values turned out to have significant effects on overall self-perceived physical attractiveness. This study confirmed that clothing values and self-perceived physical attractiveness turned out to have significant effects on sensuous clothing behavior.

  • The number of elderly citizens has risen in Korea and resulted in an aging society. Correspondingly, the social interest in the aging population has escalated immensely; however, research or product development on the quality of life for seniors has shortcomings. Healthcare smart clothing is required to help the elderly with changes and weaknesses that follow aging; however, there is unfortunately insufficient amounts available. This study explores the feasibilities of smart clothing for seniors based on a universal design. Based on previous research, we analyzed the universal design theory, body shape characteristics and design requirements for seniors, and heart rate measurement method. The design is different according to body shape and body shape is different between sex, age, and body race; therefore, subjects were limited to 70-74 year old Korean males in this study. This study proposes a guideline for heart rate sensing clothing that satisfies the 'universal design' aspects as well as the functionality of heart sensing, senior's physical characteristics and needs. It has broadened the range of smart clothing, which was once limited to the younger generation and provided a foundation for the development of specialized smart clothing for seniors.

  • As the sphere of consumers' shopping behavior expands, the need to understand shopping orientation also increases. Yet, there has been few research that investigated the nature of clothing shopping orientation[CSO]. Thus, more research that accounts for CSO is needed. The purpose of this study is to determine the concept of CSO. In order to study CSO, documentary research was conducted. The results of this study were as follows: In order to identify the concept of CSO, the concept of general shopping orientation was determined first. The results indicated that the general shopping orientation was a shopping specific lifestyle. Based on this, the concept of CSO was determined. Through investigating the relationship between clothing lifestyle and CSO, and comparing the general shopping orientation and CSO, the concept of CSO was ultimately determined as a clothing shopping specific life style, that is, a patternized clothing shopping aspect integrating consumer's activity, interest, and opinion relating to clothing shopping. It comprehends both behavioral and psychological aspects appearing while the clothing shopping, and before and after the clothing shopping. The results of this study would be useful to reduce the confusion between the concept of CSO and other similar concepts, and to guide valid research on CSO.

  • This study is aimed to research the trend of studies on the evaluation of clothing fit using the domestic research journals. clothing fit has long been regarded as the most important element to customers in clothing appearance. Understanding fit from a consumer's perspective is complex. 85 articles were collected from domestic academic sites (KISS, DBpia, KiSTi). Many clothing fit articles published on the 2011-2016 year. In research target, young women were more than other age groups. On the evaluation of clothing fit, method of clothing fit classified survey using the questionnaire and wearing test. Many articles were used the survey using the questionnaire, 57.7%. The other articles were used wearing test with professional analyst and objective evaluation tool. Objective evaluation was used 3D virtual wearing systems (i-designer, DC suit, CLO et al). In the survey using the questionnaire and wearing test using the objective evaluation, jacket and pants were researched on the clothing items mainly. Many young women put on the jacket and pants to active energetically. In the future, researches related clothing fit need to develop the objective and accuracy evaluation tool of clothing fit.

Above all, name of shaman clothing is not unified, accordingly, there's a big difference from traditional Gutgeori, which was definitely divided in the role of outer clothing of shaman in respect of function and role of Gutgeori. Here, this research attended a site that performed Gutgeori based on the advanced literature research data research and analyzed the state and name of outer clothing by conducting a survey and interview investigation. Survey was conducted during 2 years from 2014 to 2015 classifying Gutgeori of Seoul, Gyeongsang, Honam, Jeju, Chungcheon. Research results are as follows. First, lots of outer clothes were put on along with shamanism type in Seoul, accordingly, names were diversified. Name of outer clothing was not unified by focusing on level of divinity or behavior of Gutgeori, with no consistency being mixed. Second, name was not consistent even the outer clothing of the same type shaman along with the region, sometimes put on in different meaning, accordingly, called in different name. Combination of such name of shaman is determined to be a big reason of lack of accurate information on shaman clothing and genealogy of name of shaman clothing in shamans, as the initial research on shamanism was conducted by folklorists in advance.
