  • In this paper, we propose H.264 High Profile Encoder Intra Prediction module. This designed module can be operated in 306 cycle for one-macroblock. To verify the Encoder architecture, we developed the reference C from JM 13.2 and verified the our developed hardware using test vector generated by reference C. We adopt plan removal and SAD calculation to reduce the Hardware cost and cycle. The designed circuit can be operated in 133MHz clock system, and has 250K gate counts using TSMC 0.18um process including SRAM memory.

  • Plasma melatonin, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and body temperature were measured simultaneously and continuously before and after the sleep-wake cycle was shifted in 4 healthy males and changes in the circadian rhythm itself and in the phase relationship among these circadian rhythms were determined. Normal sleep-wake cycle (sleep hours: 2300-0700) was delayed by 10 h (sleep hours: 0900-1700) during the experiment. Even after this shift the typical melatonin rhythm was maintained: low during daytime and high during night. The melatonin rhythm was gradually delayed day by day. The TSH rhythm was also maintained fundamentally during 3 consecutive days of altered sleep-wake cycle. The phase was also delayed gradually but remarkably. The daily rhythm of body temperature was changed by the alteration of sleep-wake cycle. The body temperature began to decrease at the similar clock time as in the control but the decline during night awake period was less steep and the lowered body temperature persisted during sleep. The hormonal profiles during the days of shifted sleep/wake cycle suggest that plasma melatonin and TSH rhythms are basically regulated by an endogenous biological clock. The parallel phase shift of melatonin and TSH upon the change in sleep-wake cycle suggests that a common unitary pacemaker probably regulates these two rhythms. The reversal phase relationship between body temperature and melatonin suggests that melatonin may have a hypothermic effect on body temperature. The altered body temperature rhythm suggests that the awake status during night may inhibit the circadian decrease in body temperature and that sleep sustains the lowered body temperature. It is probable but uncertain that there ave causal relationships among sleep, melatonin, TSH, and body temperature.

  • Network on a chip(NoC) is a communication subsystem between intellectual property(IP) cores in a SoC and improves high performance in the scalability and the power efficiency compared with conventional buses and crossbar switches. NoC needs a synchronizer to overcome the metastability problem between data links. This paper presents a new mesochronous synchronizer(MS) which is composed of selection window generator, selection signal generator, and data buffer. A delay line circuit is used to build selection window in selection window generator based on the delayed clock cycle of transmitted clock and the transmitted clock is compared with local clock to generate a selection signal in the SW(selection window). This MS gets rid of the restriction of metastability by choosing a rising edge or a falling edge of local clock according to the value of selection signal. The simulation results show that the proposed MS operates correctly for all phase differences between a transmitted clock and a local clock.

  • This paper shows a SDRAM opeating in 200MHz clock cycle which it use data interleave and pipelining for high speed operation. We proposed NdC (Negative DEaly circuit) to improve clock to access time(tAC) characteristics, also we proposed low power WL(wordline)driver circit and high efficiency VPP charge-pump circit. Our all circuits has been fabricated using 0.4um CMOS process, and the measured maximum speed is 200Mbytes/s in LvTTL interface.

  • The multi-layer advanced high-performance bus (ML-AHB) BusMatrix proposed by ARM is an excellent architecture for applying embedded systems with low power. However, there is one clock cycle delay for each master in the ML-AHB BusMatrix of the advanced microcontroller bus architecture (AMBA) design kit (ADK) whenever a master starts new transactions or changes the slave layers. In this letter, we propose an improved design method to remove the one clock cycle delay in the ML-AHB BusMatrix of an ADK. We also remarkably reduce the total area and power consumption of the ML-AHB BusMatrix of an ADK with the elimination of the heavy input stages.

  • Due to the rapid growth in digital contents, it is important for us to design a high speed and secure encryption algorithm which is able to comply with the existing and future needs. This paper proposes an alternative approach for self-decimated LM-128 summation sequence generator, which will generate a higher throughput if compared to the conventional generator. We design and implement a threshold clock-controlled LM-128 and prove that it has a lower clock cycle and hence giving a higher key stream generation speed. The proposed threshold clock-control LM-128 generator consists of 256 bits inner state with 128 bits secret key and initialization vector. The cipher achieves a security level of 128 bits to be adapted to the digital contents security with high definition and high quality.

  • This paper proposed the dual-loops multiphase DLL based mixed VCO/VCDL for a high frequency phase noise suppression of the input clock and the multiple frequencies generation with a precise duty cycle. In the proposed architecture, the dual-loops DLL uses the dual input differential buffer based nMOS source-coupled pairs at the input stage of the mixed VCO/VCDL. This can easily convert the input and output phase transfer of the conventional DLL with bypass pass filter characteristic to the input and output phase transfer of PLL with low pass filter characteristic for the high frequency input phase noise suppression. Also, the proposed DLL can correct the duty-cycle error of multiple frequencies by using only the duty-cycle correction circuits and the phase tracking loop without additional correction controlled loop. At the simulation result with $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, the output phase noise of the proposed DLL is improved under -13dB for 1GHz input clock with 800MHz input phase noise. Also, at 1GHz operating frequency with 40%~60% duty-cycle error, the duty-cycle error of the multiple frequencies is corrected under $50{\pm}1%$ at 2GHz the input clock.

  • In packet switching using multistage interconnection networks (MIN's), it is generally assumed that the packet movements successively propagate from the last stage to the first stage in one network cycle. However, Ding and Bhuyan has shown that the network performance can be significantly improved if the packet movements are confined within each pair of adjacent stages using small clock cycles. In this paper, an analytical model for evaluating the performance of input-buffered MlN's employing this network cycle approach is proposed, The effectiveness of the proposed model is confirmed by comparing results from the simulation as well as from Ding and Bhuyan model.

  • In this paper, we present a new charge pump circuit feasible for the implementation with standard twin-well CMOS process technology. The proposed charge pump employs PMOS-switching dual charge-transfer paths and a simple two-phase clock. Since charge transfer switches are fully turned on during each half of clock cycle, they transfer charges completely from the present stage to the next stage without suffering threshold voltage drop. During one clock cycle, the pump transfers charges twice through two pumping paths which are operating alternately. The performance comparison by simulations and measurements demonstrates that the proposed charge pump exhibits the higher output voltage, the larger output current and a better power efficiency over the traditional twin-well charge pumps.
