  • As far as we handle industrial products, the painting process is prerequisite; and the preparatory treatment of materials is, therefore, indispensable to the above process. However, it is a matter for regret that people are liable to overlook the importance the treatment of materials at the preparatory stage, giving themselves up to the surface of finished goods. The preparatory treatment of materials is like backstage personnel (operations) in dramatic performance; the performance cannot be successful without the support of backstage operations in surface treatment. The various methods which are being applied widely as preparatory treatment are as follow: (1) the method by using hand tools such as grinders, etc. (2) the method with blasting (3) the method with chemical coating (4) the method by getting rid of fatty substance with organic solvent The methods No. 1 and No. 2 are in use mainly for larger structures, and those No. 3 and No. 4, either singly or combined, are applied for mass-produced, smaller items (acid cleaning is applied for getting rid of rust, as the case may be). The method No. 3 is used mainly as anti-rust by forming zinc phosphate film on the surface of steel plate or enhancing the bonding power of paints by taking advantage of irregular surfaces of films. Recently are no the market steel plates treated directly with film-coating by omitting the process No. 3. Furthermore, those goods painted include not only nonferrous goods but plastics and elastomer. The present discourse describes the cleaning process by using the steam of organic acid, picked up from among No. 4, and its equipment applied.

RF Generator Design for High-quality Power at Light Load

  • To generate the plasma required in dry cleaning processes, the plasma chamber must be supplied with a high-quality AC voltage with a voltage of more than 1 kV and a frequency of 400 kHz. In the existing research, many methods to supply high power have been studied, but how to improve the quality of the power for high-quality plasma has been relatively little studied. In this paper, we propose a study to improve the quality of RF power circuit for high-quality plasma generation in dry cleaning method. Existing methods in the environment of full-bridge-based RF power circuits must perform PWM duty control in the light load region. This causes distortions in the waveform, resulting in poor power quality, which directly leads to poor plasma quality. To solve these problems, a half-bridge switching method is proposed and the improvement in waveform quality is verified. To verify the feasibility of the design and control algorithm proposed in this paper, an RF power circuit prototype is fabricated and the proposed design and control method is verified through simulation and actual experiments under dummy load.

불산-오존-희석 암모니아수 세정에 의한 실리콘 웨이퍼 표면의 미세입자 제거 (Particle Removal on Silicon Wafer Surface by Ozone-HF-NH4OH Sequence)

  • 불산과 오존 세정 시 실리콘 웨이퍼 표면의 미세입자를 효과적으로 제거할 수 있는 세정 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 불산의 농도가 0.3 vol% 이상이 되어야 미세입자가 제거 되었으며, 초음파가 인가된 오존수를 사용 시 제거 효율은 증가되었다. 오존과 불산 세정 단계 이후에 추가로 극미량의(0.01 vol%) 희석 암모니아수 세정을 하면 미세입자가 99%이상 제거됨을 확인하였다. 이는 암모니아수에 의한 웨이퍼 표면의 미세 에칭 효과와 알칼리 영역에서의 재흡착 방지 효과가 동시에 작용함에 기인된다고 보인다. 한편, 불산-오존-희석 암모니아수 세정은 통상의 SC-1 세정과 비교할 때 표면 미세 거칠기가 개선되는 경향을 보였다. 불산-오존-희석 암모니아수 세정은 상온에서도 미세입자를 효과적으로 제거할 수 있는 세정 방법으로, 고온 공정 및 과다한 화학액을 사용하는 기존 습식세정의 대안으로서 기대된다.

A Study on the Chemical Cleaning Process and Its Qualification Test by Eddy Current Testing

  • Steam Generator (SG) tube, as a barrier isolating the primary coolant system from the secondary side of nuclear power plants (NPP), must maintain the structural integrity for the public safety and their efficient power generation. So, SG tubes are subject to the periodic examination and the repairs if needed so that any defective tubes are not in service. Recently, corrosion related degradations were detected in the tubes of the domestic OPR-1000 NPP, as a form of axially oriented outer diameter stress corrosion cracking (ODSCC). According to the studies on the factors causing the heat fouling as well as developing corrosion cracking, densely scaled deposits on the secondary side of the SG tubes are mainly known to be problematic causing the adverse impacts against the soundness of the SG tubes [1]. Therefore, the processes of various cleaning methods efficiently to dissolve and remove the deposits have been applied as well as it is imperative to maintain the structural integrity of the tubes after exposing to the cleaning agent. So qualification test (QT) should be carried out to assess the perfection of the chemical cleaning and QT is to apply the processes and to do ECT. In this paper, the chemical cleaning processes to dissolve and remove the scaled deposits are introduced and results of ECT on the artificial crack specimens to determine the effectiveness of those processes are represented.

유리/실리콘 기판 직접 접합에서의 세정과 열처리 효과 (Effects of Wafer Cleaning and Heat Treatment in Glass/Silicon Wafer Direct Bonding)

  • We have investigated the effects of various wafers cleaning on glass/Si bonding using 4 inch Pyrex glass wafers and 4 inch silicon wafers. The various wafer cleaning methods were examined; SPM(sulfuric-peroxide mixture, $H_2SO_4:H_2O_2$ = 4 : 1, $120^{\circ}C$), RCA(company name, $NH_4OH:H_2O_2:H_2O$ = 1 : 1 : 5, $80^{\circ}C$), and combinations of those. The best room temperature bonding result was achieved when wafers were cleaned by SPM followed by RCA cleaning. The minimum increase in surface roughness measured by AFM(atomic force microscope) confirmed such results. During successive heat treatments, the bonding strength was improved with increased annealing temperatures up to $400^{\circ}C$, but debonding was observed at $450^{\circ}C$. The difference in thermal expansion coefficients between glass and Si wafer led debonding. When annealed at fixed temperatures(300 and $400^{\circ}C$), bonding strength was enhanced until 28 hours, but then decreased for further anneal. To find the cause of decrease in bonding strength in excessively long annealing time, the ion distribution at Si surface was investigated using SIMS(secondary ion mass spectrometry). tons such as sodium, which had been existed only in glass before annealing, were found at Si surface for long annealed samples. Decrease in bonding strength can be caused by the diffused sodium ions to pass the glass/si interface. Therefore, maximum bonding strength can be achieved when the cleaning procedure and the ion concentrations at interface are optimized in glass/Si wafer direct bonding.

배수문에서 실내모형실험에 의한 무동력 토사제거시스템의 수리 특성 (Hydraulic Characteristics of the Non-power Soil Cleaning and Keeping System by the Large-Scale Model Test at the Dike Gate)

  • In this study, the large-scale hydraulic model test was performed to investigate the hydraulic characteristics for development of the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system at the dike gate. The outlet height, outflow number, outflow discharge, and outflow cycle were compared and analyzed. The non-power soil cleaning and keeping system was most effective at 11.2 mm in the outlet height. And then the mean outflow cycle was 1.09 sec, and the mean outflow discharge was $0.00164m^3/s$. The total outflow number increased gradually as the water level of a water tank increased, and the outlet height decreased. As a level of water tank decreased, the mean outflow cycle was lengthened, and the unit outflow discharge increased. This result showed this system was most effective. To remove the silty clay deposited in facilities, the methods of excavation, dredging, high pressure washing, etc have been applied to the tidal facilities such as land reclamation, a small size fishing port, and a harbor for maintenance. However, this is extremely cost-ineffective, whereas the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system will bring about an enormously positive economic effect. In addition, when the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system is applied to the dike gate of land reclamation, a thorough examination of the local tidal data and the careful system planning are required to prevent the disaster damage caused by flooding.

파일럿 규모 막 증발 공정 적용을 위한 직접 접촉식 모듈의 투과유속 및 열에너지 이동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flux and Heat Transfer of Direct Contact Type Module Applied for a Pilot Scale Membrane Distillation Process)

  • In this study, a direct contact membrane module was manufactured to be used in a pilot scale membrane distillation process to treat $3m^3/day$ of the digestate produced from anaerobic digestion of livestock manure. In order to investigate the performance of the membrane module, permeate flux was measured with and without spacer inside the module under various condition of temperature difference and cross flow velocity (CFV) through the membrane surfaces. Flux recovery rate after chemical cleaning was also investigated by applying three different cleaning methods. Additionally, thermal energy consumption was theoretically simulated based on actual pilot plant operation conditions. As results, we observed flux of the module with spacer was almost similar to the theoretically predicted value because the installation of spacer reduced the channeling effect inside the module. Under the same operating condition, the permeate flux also increased with increasing temperature difference and CFV. As a result of chemical in-line cleaning using NaOCl and citric acid for the fouled membranes, the recovery rate was 83.7% compared to the initial flux when NaOCl was used alone, and 87% recovery rate was observed when only citric acid was used. However, in the case of using only citric acid, the permeate flux was decreased at a rapid rate. It seemed that a cleaning by NaOCl was more effective to recover the flux of membrane contaminated by the organic matter as compared to a cleaning by citric acid. The total heat energy consumption increased with increasing CFV and temperature difference across the membrane. Thus, further studies should be intensively conducted to obtain a high permeate flux while keeping the energy consumption to a minimum for a practical application of membrane distillation process to treat wastewater.

Bonding effects of cleaning protocols and time-point of acid etching on dentin impregnated with endodontic sealer

  • Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the bonding effects of cleaning protocols on dentin impregnated with endodontic sealer residues using ethanol (E) or xylol (X). The effects of dentin acid etching immediately (I) or 7 days (P) after cleaning were also evaluated. For bonding to dentin, universal adhesive (Scotchbond Universal; 3M ESPE) was used. The persistence of sealer residues, hybrid layer formation and microshear bond strength were the performed analysis. Materials and Methods: One hundred and twenty bovine dentin specimens were allocated into 4 groups (n = 10): G1 (E+I); G2 (X+I); G3 (E+P); and G4 (X+P). The persistence of sealer residues was evaluated by SEM. Confocal laser scanning microscopy images were taken to measure the formed hybrid layer using the Image J program. For microshear bond strength, 4 resin composite cylinders were placed over the dentin after the cleaning protocols. ANOVA followed by Tukey test and Kruskal-Wallis followed by Dunn test were used for parametric and non-parametric data, respectively (α = 5%). Results: G2 and G4 groups showed a lower persistence of residues (p < 0.05) and thicker hybrid layer than the other groups (p < 0.05). No bond strength differences among all groups were observed (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Dentin cleaning using xylol, regardless of the time-point of acid etching, provided lower persistence of residues over the surface and thicker hybrid layer. However, the bond strength of the universal adhesive system in etch-and-rinse strategy was not influenced by the cleaning protocols or time-point of acid etching.

Influence of access cavity design on calcium hydroxide removal using different cleaning protocols: a confocal laser scanning microscopy study

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of endodontic access cavities design on the removal of calcium hydroxide medication of the apical third of mandibular incisor root canal walls and dentinal tubules with different cleaning protocols: EDDY sonic activation, Er,Cr:YSGG laser-activated irrigation, or conventional irrigation with IrriFlex. Materials and Methods: Seventy-eight extracted human mandibular incisors were assigned to 6 experimental groups (n = 13) according to the endodontic access cavity and cleaning protocol for calcium hydroxide removal: traditional access cavity (TradAC)/EDDY; ultraconservative access cavity performed in the incisal edge (UltraAC.Inc)/EDDY; TradAC/Er,Cr:YSGG; UltraAC. Inc/Er,Cr:YSGG; TradAC/IrriFlex; or UltraAC.Inc/IrriFlex. Confocal laser scanning microscopy images were used to measure the non-penetration percentage, maximum residual calcium hydroxide penetration depth, and penetration area at 2 and 4 mm from the apex. Data were statistically analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk and WRS2 package for 2-way comparison of non-normally distributed parameters (depth of penetration, area of penetration, and percentage of non-penetration) according to cavity and cleaning protocol with the significance level set at 5%. Results: The effect of cavity and cleaning protocol interactions on penetration depth, penetration area and non-penetration percentage was not found statistically significant at 2 and 4 mm levels (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The present study demonstrated that TradAC or UltraAC.Inc preparations with different cleaning protocols in extracted mandibular incisors did not influence the remaining calcium hydroxide at 2 and 4 mm from the apex.

청소 로봇의 주행 기법에 따른 청소 효율성에 관한 연구 (A study on Cleaning Efficiency by Navigational Methods of a Cleaning Robot)

  • 이 논문에서는 저비용 고효율 청소 로봇을 구현하기 위한 효율적 주행 기법을 발굴하기 위하여 다양한 주행 기법들을 제안하고, 시뮬레이션 도구를 이용하여 실험한 후 그 결과를 비교, 분석하였다. 이 논문에서 저비용이라는 것은 전방에 하나의 근접 센서만을 갖는 단순한 구조의 청소 로봇을 의미하며, 이전 주행 경로나 장애물에 대한 영상 정보 등은 물론 좌우 상태에 대한 정보없이 진행 경로 상에 장애물의 존재 여부만으로 청소를 수행할 수 있는 청소 로봇을 의미한다. 이 논문에서 제안한 여러 주행기법들을 비교 분석한 결과, 바둑판식 주행 기법의 패턴에 주행 중 진행 방향을 0.05의 확률로 좌우 90도 방향으로 랜덤 변경하는 주행 기법이 가장 효율적인 주행 기법임을 확인할 수 있었다.
