"백조의 호수"에 표현된 발레의상 연구 - 매튜 본의 "백조의 호수"를 중심으로 - (The Study on Ballet Costumes Expressed in "Swan Lake" - Centering around The Swan Lake by Matthew Bourne -)

  • This study is focused on main performers' stage costumes in the 'Swan Lake', a masterpiece of classical ballet, which Is newly represented by Matthew Bourne, a choreographer. The objectives of the study is to help understand a trend of costume in modern public performance and art. First, this paper is attempted to describe the concept and the elements of ballet costume, secondly, to consider the performance generally, and finally to analyze main performers stage costumes. This study was performed by two processes; The first was to visit theaters to view the performances in person: the classical ballet by the Bolshoi Theater Ballet, the performance by Korea national ballet academy and the Matthew Bonne's modernly redefined ballet. The second was to review the regarding literatures and DVD. There are two apparent characteristics of main performers' stage costumes in modern-style ballet compared with classic-style ballet. First, there is an approach to gender identity; the character of swan with the classic tutu that has been the culmination of femininity in the classic-style ballet, used to be represented in an established idea on ballet costume, is now substituted by a creative idea, male ballerina and trouser-style ballet costume. Second, there is an approach to breaking the convention on the purpose of emphasizing popularity arousing real sympathy and art value. Also, modern-style ballet introduces bare body and ffot rather than tutu and toe-shoes, and adapts items from casual outfit fitted in earh performer's character with a present-day life.

  • The purpose of this study is to find analytic solution of determining the optimal capacity (lot-size) of multiproduct acyclic multistage production and inventory system to meet the finished product demand under the constraint of finite intermediate storage. Intermediate storage is a practical way to mitigate the material flow imbalance through the line of supply and demand chain. However, the cost of constructing and operating storage facilities is becoming substantial because of increasing land value, environmental and safety concern. Therefore, reasonable decision-making about the capacity of processes and storage units is an important subject for industries. The industrial solution for this subject is to use the classical economic lot sizing method, EOQ/EPQ(Economic Order Quantity/Economic Production Quantity) model, incorporated with practical experience. But EOQ/EPQ model is not suitable for the chemical plant design with highly interlinked processes and storage units because it is developed based on single product and single stage. This study overcomes the limitation of the classical lot sizing method. The superstructure of the plant consists of the network of serially and/or parallelly interlinked non-continuous processes and storage units. The processes transform a set of feedstock materials into another set of products with constant conversion factors. A novel production and inventory analysis method, PSW(Periodic Square Wave) model, is applied to describe the detail material flows among equipments. The objective function of this study is minimizing the total cost composed of setup and inventory holding cost. The advantage of PSW model comes from the fact that the model provides a set of simple analytic solutions in spite of realistic description of the material flows between processes and storage units. the resulting simple analytic solution can greatly enhance the proper and quick investment decision for the preliminary plant design problem confronted with economic situation.

  • 기존 건축물의 구조 안전성평가와 보수 보강 시에는 해당 건축물의 상태를 정확히 알기 위해 현장 또는 실험실에서의 실험을 수행하는 경우가 많고 최초설계 단계와 다르게 시공된 건축물의 실제 상태 등을 구조해석 모델에 반영하게 된다. 이 경우, 각종 실험값을 전통적인 통계학적 방법은 구조기술자가 지닌 경험과 지식은 구조모델링 및 해석에서 아무런 가치를 더 할 수가 없다. 본 논문은 현장 및 실험실에서 얻은 단순한 실험값을 구조기술자의 축적된 경험과 지식을 변수로 활용하여 보다 유효하게 구조해석 모델에 필요한 데이터로 개선하는 방법으로서 통계학적인 베이스 경신법을 이용한 안전성평가 방법에 대해 살펴보았다. 구조기술자의 적절한 판단이 변수로서 포함되면 적은 개수의 샘플 수로도 비교적 정확한 값의 최종 예측값을 산정할 수 있어 전통적인 통계학적 접근에 비해 보다 실제값에 근접한 예측값을 구할 수 있는 것을 확인하였다.

『금궤옥함경(金匱玉函經)』의 성서(成書) 배경과 학술 체계 (A Study on the Theoretical System and Publication Background of Jinkuiyuhanjing(金匱玉函經))

  • Objectives : This study aims to investigate the background of, and theoretical system behind the Jinkuiyuhanjing that was edited and published at the same time as the Shanghanlun by the Jiaozhengyishuju (governmental publishing sector) of Northern Song. Methods : To determine the background against which Jinkuiyuhanjing was published, its position and meaning within the Medical Texts Editing Project of the Jiaozhengyishuju was firstly examined. For its theoretical background, the contents of Zhengzhizongli, which is considered to be an introduction to the Jinkuiyuhanjing was thoroughly analyzed. Moreover, to understand the unique philosophy of the Jinkuiyuhanjing, referneces were made to relevant contents in the 'Shinhyeong' chapter of the Donguibogam. Results : The findings of the study call for a re-evluation of the Jinkuiyuhanjing as holding a unique philosophical perspective and having an independent lineage instead of being a supplementary material to the Shanghanlun as it was once understood. Conclusions : The research of Zhangzhongjing's Classical Formulas(經方) revealed that the theoretical thinking and contents of Jinkuiyuhanjing hold much value and should be actively studied and applied. Furthermore, it lends important meaning in understanding the tradition of Korean Classical Formulas as represented in the Donguibogam.

국악기 피리의 소리합성을 위한 음색분석 연구 (A Study on the Spectrum Analysis for the Sound Synthesis of Piri)

  • 본 연구는 국악기 피리의 소리합성을 위한 기초 단계로, 피리의 음색 특징을 분석하였다 분석은 세 가지로 나누어 첫째, 피리의 음색 특징을 스펙트럼 분석을 통하여 오보에와 비교하였고, 둘째, 피리 소리들의 어택(attack)부분의 시간대별 분석을 통하여 소리 발생과정에 따른 음색을 분석하였으며, 마지막으로 악기연주의 중요한 역할을 하는 비브라토의 특성을 분석해 보았다. 그 결과 피리 음색은 서양악기와 달리 높은 배음들의 음량이 높게 나타났고, 소리발생 초기단계(어택 부분)에서는 노이즈 양이 급격히 줄어드는 것과 반하여 배음들의 음량 값이 높아졌으며, 비브라토에서도 음량위주로 변화하는 서양악기와 달리 음고와 음량이 동시에 변화한다는 특성을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 배음에 따른 음색 특징과 소리 발생과정에서의 음색변화, 그리고 비브라토에서의 음고와 음량 변화는 피리의 독특한 음색을 잘 나타내 주는 특징들로써 소리합성에 있어서 반드시 적용되어져야 할 것이다.

  • 기계나 로봇은 인류의 실존적인 기반에 질문을 던진다. 기계들은 인간의 사고방식에 영향을 주었으며, 사회철학과 가치체계까지 변화시켜왔다. 이와 동시에 기계들은 줄곧 다양하고, 매력적인 특징들을 함유해왔다. 기계기술의 발전은 인류의 발전이라는 상징적 의미와 동시에 인간 존재를 위협하는 위험성이라는 상징적 의미를 함께 가지고 있다. 이러한 기계의 양가적인 특징들을 현대조각의 키네틱 요소에서도 발견할 수 있다. 필자는 조각적인 작품 중에서도 기계나 기계의 메커니즘을 활용하는 조각에 초점을 맞추었다. 이를 역사적인 발전과정을 통해 검토하였으며, 현대미술의 특정 예시들을 당대의 대표 모델로 논하였다. 본 연구는 키네틱아트와 설치미술 분야에서 두각을 나타내는 두 명의 젊은 동시대 작가인, 최우람(Choe u-ram)과 예페 하인(Jeppe Hein)을 대표모델로 선정하였다. 두 작가는 기계나 기계의 메커니즘을 사용하는 동양과 서양의 작가로서, 두 작가의 표현방식의 차이가 존재한다. 예시로 몇 가지 작품을 제시하고, 비교를 통하여 두 작가의 문화적 차이와 시각 언어의 차이가 나타나는 이유에 대하여 분석하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 글로벌화된 세계에서도 지역적 특징이 항상 남아있음을 결론으로 제시한다.

자기서사에 따른 사물의 의미변용과 여행 체험 -『열하일기』를 중심으로- (How the meaning of things can be changed based on the epic of self and travel experience -focusing on 『Yeulhailgi』-)

  • This study examined how Ji-Won Park(Yeonam) created the eaning of things based on the epic of self and how his travel experience manifested on the epic of self. First of all, the author examined that how Yeonam interpreted the meaning of things based on his own reflection using the examples of "The Golden Arbor" and "Baeki-Sukje." As a result, the author found that Yeonam focused on the material value of "the Golden Arbor" rather than the reason of creation of "The Golden Arbor." Yeonam also used "Baeki-Sukje" as an ironic representation rather than the original meaning of loyalty and integrity. Second, it helped to present personal self epic since travel experience and the atmosphere of the travel journey could reduce the pressure from the epic of society on individuals. For instance, when Ji-Won Park (Yeonman) traveled the China (the country of Chung) where society promoted public welfare, Yeonman was able to express himself freely which showed utilitarian over justice. Finally, the author talked about how a book of travels can be used for the case of literature therapy since "Yeulhailgi" was written by Yeonam while he was traveling. The author indicated that it might be useful for the patients to write own travel journey since the therapist could analyze the mind of patients by the epic of self. In addition, using a book of travels also can be valuable for the patients since the therapist could analyze the condition of patients as well as help patients see through themselves while reading a book of travels.

  • Existing methods for optimization of sequences by random mutagenesis generate libraries with a small number of mostly deleterious mutations, resulting in libraries containing a large fraction of non-functional clones that explore only a small part of sequence space. Large numbers of clones need to be screened to find the rare mutants with improvements. Library display formats are useful to screen very large libraries but impose screening limitations that limit the value of this approach for most commercial applications. By contrast, in both classical breeding and in DNA shuffling, natural diversity is permutated by homologous recombination, generating libraries of very high quality, from which improved clones can be identified with a small number of complex screens. Given that this small number of screens can be performed under the conditions of actual use of the product, commercially relevant improvements can be reliably obtained.

  • We discuss some interesting sublattices of interval-valued fuzzy subgroups. In our main result, we consider the set of all interval-valued fuzzy normal subgroups with finite range that attain the same value at the identity element of the group. We then prove that this set forms a modular sublattice of the lattice of interval-valued fuzzy subgroups. In fact, this is an interval-valued fuzzy version of a well-known result from classical lattice theory. Finally, we employ a lattice diagram to exhibit the interrelationship among these sublattices.

  • Nature is full of precious treasure to cure us from various disorders. One of them is Curcuma longa belonging to Zingiberaceae family, present with outstanding therapeutic value and used since time immemorial. Part used from the plant is rhizome native to India (south east continent) which is the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of turmeric. The active principle called curcumin or diferuloylmethane is a yellow pigment that exhibits numerous activities and wide spectrum of biological actions which include anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, anti-cancerous, anti-fungal, neuroprotective activities and many more. This paper focuses on the comparative evaluation of medicinal properties of Curcuma longa as mentioned in Unani classical literature with its modern scientific researches.
