Today 55 percent of the population in the world lives in urban areas which is expected to increase to 68 percent by the year 2050. In the cities, high-rise buildings as symbols of the modern cityscape are dominating the skylines, but the data to demonstrate their embodied energy and environmental impacts are scarce, compared to low- or mid-rise buildings. Reducing the embodied energy and environmental impacts of buildings is critical as about 42 percent of primary energy use and 39 percent of the global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from the building sector. However, it is an overlooked area in embodied energy and environmental impacts of high-rise buildings. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a widely used tool to quantify the embodied energy and environmental impacts of the building sector. LCA combined with Building Information Modeling (BIM) can simplify data acquisition of the building as well as provide both tools with feedback. Several studies recognize that the integration of BIM and LCA can simplify data acquisition of the building as well as provide tools with feedback. This article provides an overview of literature on BIM-based of embodied energy and environmental impacts of high-rise buildings. It also compares with different LCA methodologies. Finally, major strategies to reduce embodied energy and environmental impacts of high-rise buildings, research limitations and trends in the field are covered.
This study analyzes the place of modem architecture based on the place theory of C. N, Schultz. For applying Schultz's theory to the modern architecture, It is required to examine the modern cityscape, features of inner space of architecture and features of program. By analyzing the avant-garde architecture of Rem Koolhaas on such basis, the potentiality of placeness of modern architecture could be verified and the alternatives would be searched. It is inferred that the placeness features of Rem Koolhaas' public architecture is under the influence of the interpretation of program based on the humane background rather than the physical aspects of surroundings. The inner space shows the non-linear features, the metaphor of city. The obscurity of physical boundary illustrates the flexible features with ambiguous boundary. Consequently, the inner space expresses the surreal atmosphere that doesn't match the purposes of usage of architecture, the traditional concept. The outer shape is recognized as the by-product from the interpretation of internal program rather than it considered the surrounding context. The outer shape has the relatively simple formative shape and contrasts against the complicated inner space by using the non-physical materials. It is found that Koolhaas' architecture doesn't pursue the features of placeness of traditional concept. However, It is inferred that his architecture has the possibility of placeness by attaching the meaning through the social roles of each architecture. It gives the substantial suggestion to the modern architecture that can't easily acquire the placeness of traditional concept due to the environment of modern city.

Recently a number of media facade buildings making beautiful cityscape landmark has been increased in Seoul. However, indiscreet adaptation of media facade cause problems such as light pollution and poor city image. This paper was to investigate luminous characteristics of media facade building. Five representative media facade buildings in Seoul have been selected. The CS-100 and ProMetric-1400 were used to measure the luminance and color temperature of the facades. The measurement points were located at the opposite spot of the building. The results showed that maximum media facade luminance of such buildings exceed Seoul design guideline. Also, color temperature with over 5,500[K] that exceed the design guideline were mostly used in all the facades.
The purpose of this study is to classify roof styles about high-rise apartment complexes in these days. Specially, it is focused on those in Daegu city. It has analyzed for 75 apartment complexes in Daegu city. Those complexes are all over 300 houses each and were built from 2004 to 2007. Generally, roof styles about high-rise apartment complexes are classed as a flat roof style and a slope-sided roof style. Types of the flat roof style were divided a flat roof style and a eyebrows roof style. And, types of the slope-sided roof style were divided a single slope-sided roof style, a gable roof style, and a hipped roof style. The curved roof style didn't show up at these cases. According to this study, the slope-sided roof style including the gable roof style was revealed the most common roof style about high-rise apartment complexes in Daegu city from 2004 to 2007. Among 76 cases of roof styles, the number of the gable roof style is 52, and the number of flat roof style is 18. Each roof style was changed for more decorative shape. Specially, in case of the flat roof style, 17 cases for 18 cases are built as a decorative flat roof style. and, 15 for 52 gable roof style cases are built as a decorative style, too. According this case study, we are able to know that the sort of roof style was advanced variously and decoratively, and the shape of roof style was combined more than 2 decorative factors. The roof style of high-rise apartment complex in future will be more various and decorative than this time and will be develop compositively.

This study aims to examine what factors citizens value in urban parks and green spaces in terms of usage and aesthetic value and to find ways to deal with the changing patterns of user satisfaction for these various green elements. To achieve this, the study developed a dynamic model employing a transactional approach to evaluate environmental quality for 1999 and 2007 in Anyang City as well as a conceptual model of parks and greens satisfaction. This study relied on an empirical study method including the 1999 and 2007 green conditional survey and citizen questionnaires totaling 573 in the year 1999 and 982 in the year 2007. As a result, first, the factor 'urban parks' is the most important factor and 'cityscape' is the second most important factor in parks and greens satisfaction(PGS). Second, PGS in turn causes environmental quality satisfaction(EQS), which is related to two items--'urban livability' and 'aesthetic quality'--in the model. This means that PGS is the intervening variable of urban livability. Third, the factor analysis resulted in six factors: cityscape, urban green, linear facilities, urban parks, riverside green, and urban forest. 'Riverside green' emerged as a factor in 2007 as a result of public participation in the 'Anyang River Revitalization Project'. Fourth, through a transactional view, the environmental changes result in either a change in or stability of public attitude. The levels of satisfaction were elevated but patterns of satisfied-unsatisfied items remained unchanged for most factors. The perception of riverside a greenway and linear surface facilities(pedestrian walkways, biking and jogging trails, etc.) have changed positively. PGS changed significantly in 2007, as a result of urban events and development, including parks, rivers and greenways which were built through the joint effort of the local government and civic participation.
Historically, with change of life' s environment, The view to see object and person has been changed. So, as the conception that visual design is a help to produce and spread heteronomous view, this study analyse the view character of recent society as follows. A cityscape, fashion, product, prints(paper goods), advertising give a person special view and a person see the object with the view to be infected to capitalistic consumer' s custom. This origin has been started with the view that in the end of 19 c, capitalism has a visible system to build up capital and that in the make-up of modern civil society, the view was activated as the power of system maintenance and it internalized a person heteronomous view as the object of the power. The product esthetics as to make an effective demand in consumer capitalism after 70' s has shaped the way to produce the 'view desire" through the absorption. When the object is changed to 'the show" , opposite the activation of product esthetics make a person the consumer or outlooker with view of voyeurism. As to this study, the reverse ability of "product esthetics view" in the image to be produced to visual design is revealed through investigating the view as the power. So, an autonomous visual expression way and self-discipline criticism are needed.riticism are needed.
The purpose of this study to prepare for an aging society and older people happy is important to build recreational facilities gwajera recognize and physically old man of leisure facilities as a basis for the destroyers of the current seniors in public institutions that provide recreational facilities for About under utilized factors was investigated. The specific research methods and information, first, at home the most successful public senior leisure facilities as a model for selected Daegu Senior seutawo visit the simple survey and observation through the pros and cons about the elements that organize and KJ Technique and graft technique (Graph Theory) by applying the elements of physical space limitations on the mutual relationship between the priorities and establish guidelines for the priority was extracted. In addition, field-aged feel the satisfaction of their leisure facilities to evaluate the visits to the Busan, Sasang elderly and local leisure facilities for the elderly surveyed had taken Priority Method is based on comparison of results and final was to organize things to improve. Through this study, first, goods and equipment to the leisure space of the elderly efforts to effectively deploy the expertise to deal with and it actually showed that it is also important. Second, using physical devices and programs for the elderly aged recreational facilities are important, but physical and mental characteristics to consider voluntary participation for the type of space could see that it is important.
The cityward tendency of the population caused the building crowd and the skyscrapers, and destroyed the cityscape and ecosystem of the city. For this reason, many researchers studied to make more green spaces in the city. The roof greening is one of the methods to get the green spaces in the city. There are some problems in this method such as the safety load, growth of the plants on the artificial foundation, and so on. In this study, we evaluated the waste woodchips and the waste papers as a new materials for the artificial foundation. The new artificial foundation was made of the waste woodchips and the waste papers with the different ratio of mixture (woodchips, paper slurry, and fertilizer). The artificial foundation was applied to the planting of three different plants (creeping bentgrass, barley, and wheat). It was found that the growth of the plants with 1% of fertilizer was higher than other conditions. The best making condition of foundation was 40% pulp and 60% woodchips in the germination of all plants.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial-temporal proliferation of individual factories in the Seoul Metropolitan Area and to provide policy implications. The location of the factory is divided into individual locations and planned locations. In the case of individual locations, it takes a long time to establish factories. Also, due to high cost and regulation, the establishment of individual factories is not easy. However, since the establishment process is simple and the price of land is low, the establishment of individual factories has led to an increase in the number of individual factories. The problem of the undeveloped factories is that the lack of infrastructure such as the road and environmental pollution treatment facilities around the factory deteriorates the pleasant environment and the cityscape and deteriorates the health of the residents in the surrounding area. In this study, we analyzed the location of individual factories established in the Seoul metropolitan area from 2001 to 2016 by using ArcGIS Pro. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, individual location factories are formed around existing industrial complexes and industrial sites. The reason for this is considered to be the external effect that can be obtained from the surrounding area. Secondly, since the Seoul city's individual location factories are established in many residential areas, it shows the conflicting result of the mixture of residence and factory. Third, the Gyeonggi province's individual location factories have a high proportion of non-urban areas. This is because the Gyeonggi province's management area occupies a larger proportion than other areas in Gyeonggi province. This study analyzed the spatial - temporal spreading process of individual factories and the unfolding of individual factories in the metropolitan area, and it can provide policy implications to control the over development of individual factories in the future.
After the modern industrial revolution, rivers in cities became covered and disappeared due to the pressure to develop them. Likewise, their function which is to serve as the basis of natural ecology system in the cities began to be damaged. This research demonstrated that there are a total of 268 categories when it comes to the list of plants, including 64 families, 179 genera, 230 species, 36 varieties, and 1 subspecies. When the relative abundance of the plants that were found at the target research site was studied, the secondary survey demonstrated Bromus japonicus 22.97, Artemisia princeps var. orientalis 16.76 and Erigeron annuus 15.69 while third survey demonstrated Digitaria ciliaris 26.78, Ambrosia trifida 16.29 and Aster pilosus 14.31. There were 54 species of naturalized plants that appeared. Analysis demonstrated annual plant 23 classification category (43%), perennial 11 classification category (20%), multi-perennation 17 classification category (31%), woody plant 3 classification category (6%) and others. When the naturalized plants that were found at the target research site were analyzed by the place of origin, North America and EU took up 76%, which accounts for 3/4 of the all the naturalized plants. At the target research site, naturalization degree of 5 pertained to 22 classification category (41%), which was the highest, followed by 19 classification category (35%) with naturalization degree of 3, 8 classification category (15%) with naturalization degree of 2 and 5 classification category (9%) with naturalization degree of 4 in the order mentioned. Flora of Jungnangcheon did not manifest any change compared to 10 years ago. Thus, it is necessary to increase of biodiversity efforts to improve SeoulCity's natural environment and cityscape.
