  • Consequence model has been suggested to evaluate consequence of city gas accident considering actual situation. Through event tree analysis(ETA), probable accidents were summarized and listed. Then release rate was calculated both sonic and subsonic conditions. Among city gas accidents, fire damage is the dominant one and mainly discussed; fatality, burning injury, and damage to building were estimated using the consequence model suggested. With an appropriate conditions, calculating total cost by accident was suggested.

  • Recently, the biggest topic in the industry is the area of industrial safety and health management. Since city gas is flammable gas and has a high risk of fire and explosion, much effort is required to prevent serious industrial and citizenry disasters. As part of city gas safety management, this study attempted to quantitatively predict the scope and degree of damage in the event of an explosion accident caused by city gas leakage through the Consequence Analysis. As a result, there was a difference in the accident result value according to various leakage conditions such as pressure and weather conditions. Through this study, a scenario of explosion due to city gas leakage will be prepared when performing city gas safety management work and used to prepare more effective accident prevention and emergency action plans.

  • It is required that fuel gas accidents should be managed carefully along with the increase of fuel gas consumption. Factors to cause accidents were investigated through a systematic analysis of gas accidents during recent 4 years, which could be applied to prepare countermeasures to reduce gas accidents. The thawing season is found to be weak to gas accidents, showing a slightly higher rate of accident occurring than average. During this term although the number of LPG accident is similar to that of yearly average, countermeasures are required for LPG facilities since the portion of accident is large; in detail, user's carelessness, defective facility, or instrument failure are major causes. The number of city gas accident facility is larger than that of yearly average; particularly, defective facilities, third-party work, and appliance failure are major causes. As a result, countermeasures have been suggested for the accident of large portion or above yearly average.

  • In this work, a novel approach was introduced to assess cost of loss resulting from risk as well as to help deciding inspection period through quantifying risk. In order to quantifying risk of city gas pipeline, frequency and consequence analysis were required. The main causes of city gas accident were analyzed to be digging, external corrosion, ground movement, and equipment failure. Tools to evaluate frequency of each cause was also suggested. Among city gas accidents, fire damage is the dominant one and mainly discussed; fatality, burning injury, and damage to building were estimated using the consequence model suggested. By combining frequency and consequence analysis, evaluating cost of risk management together with calculating example. This work could be applicable for city gas companies to plan how to manage risk most effectively.

  • Among the various cases of fire accident, gas accident which is roost essential have a lot of forms and causes. The quantity consumed of gas is increasing because of increment of gas-using families and variations of gas machinery. The quantity consumed of gas in 2007 was 35078 tons and the average rate of increasement was 9.4%. The amount of gas accident was on the peak at 1995 when 557 accidents occurred in a year. In 2007, 123 gas accidents was occurred and the average rate of diminution was 11.5%. Accidents by LP gas took 80% of the whole accident and city gas and high pressure gas took 20%. In case of LP gas, accidents were usually occurred because of lack of blocking after the removal of gas machinery and moveable butane burner. Especially, the accidents cause by carelessness of a provider is increasing. Gas accidents which generate damage of human life and property, are caused by users' carelessness, providers' carelessness, inferiority of structure and old products. In this thesis, We will classify the gas accidents. Furthermore through the classification of accidents by forms, causes and regions, this thesis going to be a reference to understand and prevent the accidents.

  • The number of fuel gas accidents is increasing in domestic fuel gas facilities as increasing the supply area. To prevent gas accident, the government institutions related to fuel gas industry partly collected and managed the information of physical properties and safety data. Due to the overlap of data between institutions, collecting and managing the safety information was inefficient. The purpose of this research is developing geographic information system which providing the information of quantitative risk assessment, accident prevention plan, and efficient sharing and managing of the system.

  • The information technology paradigm has been shift to smart service environment, as ubiquitous technology is used in the latest industry trend. The convergency between industry facilities and ubiquitous technologies accelerate related studies and technologies because of increasing accident prevention and decreasing cost. However, ubiquitous technologies are not used to life environment and industry facilities, because those technologies did not consider industry domain characteristics by means of developing IT technology for common environment until now. This paper aims to develop wireless city gas safety management system, which provide efficient service, and establish the field oriented wireless data transmission infrastructure in order to use ubiquitous technology to city gas facilities.
