In order to maximize the usable capacity of a BMS (battery management system) that uses several battery cells connected in series, a cell balancing technique that equips each cell with the same voltage is needed. In the active cell balancing circuit using a multi-winding transformer, a balancing circuit that transfers energy directly to the cell (cell-to-cell) is composed of a PMOS switch and a gate driving chip for driving the NMOS switch. The TLP2748 photocoupler and the TLP2745 photocoupler are required, resulting in increased cost and reduced integration. In this paper, instead of driving PMOS and NMOS switching devices by using photocoupler, we proposed 70V BCD process based PMOS gate driving circuit, NMOS gate driving circuit, PMOS gate driving circuit and NMOS gate driving circuit with improved switching time. ${\Delta}t$ of the PMOS gate drive switch with improved switching time was 8.9 ns and ${\Delta}t$ of the NMOS gate drive switch was 9.9 ns.

In this paper, a two-switch high frequency flyback transformer linked zero voltage soft switching PWM DC-DC power converter implemented for distributed DC- feeding power conditioning supplies is proposed and discussed. This switch mode power converter circuit is mainly based on two main active power semiconductor switches and a main flyback high frequency transformer linked DC-DC converter in which, two passive lossless quasi-resonant snubbers with pulse current regeneration loops for energy recovery to the DC supply voltages composed of a three winding auxiliary high frequency pulse transformer, auxiliary capacitors and auxiliary diodes for inductive energy recovery discharge blocking due to snubber capacitors are introduced to achieve zero voltage soft switching from light to full load conditions. It is clarified that the passive resonant snubber-assisted soft switching PWM DC-DC power converter has some advantages such as simple circuit configuration, low cost, simple control scheme, high efficiency and lowered noises due to the soft switching commutation. Its operating principle is also described using each mode equivalent circuit. To determine the optimum resonant snubber circuit parameters, some practical design considerations are discussed and evaluated in this paper. Moreover, through experimentation the practical effectiveness of the proposed soft switching PWM DC-DC power converter using IGBTs is evaluated and compared with a hard switching PWM DC-DC power converter.
This paper presents a novel circuit topology of the double two-switch forward type high frequency transformer linked soft-switching PWM DC-DC power converter with tapped inductor filters that can operate under a condition of the low peak voltage stress across the power semiconductor devices and lowered peak current stress through the transformer for some high power applications. This circuit topology of an interleaved two-switch forward soft-switching power converter is proposed in the order to minimize an idle circulating current due to the tapped inductor filter without of any additional active auxiliary resonant-assisted snubber circuits, such as active resonant DC link snubbers and AC link snubbers, active resonant commutation leg link snubbers. The unique advantages of this power converter are less power circuit components and power semiconductor devices, constant frequency PWM scheme, cost effective configuration and wider soft-switching PWM operation range under PWM power regulations load variations. The practical effectiveness of the proposed soft-switching converter circuit topology is tested by simulations and is proved by experimental results received from the 500W-100kHz breadboard setup.
This paper presents a high-efficient and cost effective three-phase AC/DC-DC/AC power conversion system with a single two-switch type active Auxiliary Resonant DC Link (ARDCL) snubber circuit, which can minimize the total power dissipation. The active ARDCL snubber circuit is proposed in this paper and its unique features are described. Its operation principle in steady-state is discussed for the three phase AC/DC-DC/AC converter, which is composed of PWM rectifier as power factor correction (PFC) converter, sinewave PWM inverter. In the presented power converter system not only three-phase AC/DC PWM rectifier but also three-phase DC/AC inverter can achieve the stable ZVS commutation for all the power semiconductor devices. It is proved that the proposed three-phase AC/DC-DC/AC converter system is more effective and acceptable than the previous from the cost viewpoint and high efficient consideration. In addition, the proposed two-switch type active auxiliary ARDCL snubber circuit can reduce the peak value of the resonant inductor injection current in order to maximize total system actual efficiency by using the improved DSP based control scheme. Moreover the proposed active auxiliary two-switch ARDCL snubber circuit has the merit so that there is no need to use any sensing devices to detect the voltage and current in the ARDCL sunbber circuit for realizing soft-switching operation. This three-phase AC/DC-DC/AC converter system developed for UPS can achieve the 1.8% higher efficiency and 20dB lower conduction noise than those of the conventional three-phase hard-switching PWM AC/DC-DC/AC converter system. It is proved that actual efficiency of the proposed three-phase AC/DC-DC/AC converter system operating under a condition of soft switching is 88.7% under 10kw output power.

A new soft switching boost converter is proposed in this paper. The conventional boost converter generates switching losses at turn on and off. Because of that, the whole system efficiency is reduced. The proposed converter utilizes soft switching method using an auxiliary switch and resonant circuit. Thus, the converter reduces switching losses lower than ones of hard switching method. The proposed soft switching boost converter can be applied to photovoltaic system, power factor correction circuit and so on.

Abstract - An electronic starter using MOSFET has been designed to take advantage of ideal preheating and starting features which can extend the lifetime of fluorescent lamps. The preheating circuit of the developed electronic starter is consisted of four parts - afull-wave rectifier circuit, an FET switching circuit a timer circuit for the gate switching, and a circuit for end-of-life protection. The circuit is analyzed by using PSpice simulation, and is improved to give an appropriate starting-time through control of R-C time constant of the timer circuit. And the circuit is also provided with an end-of-life protection feature, which utilizes the negative resistance characteristics of a thermistor that is thermally linked to FET through a heatsink. This also protects the FET from any overheating problems. From the results of simulation it is possible to obtain an appropriate value on the starting time for proper ignition and also it is verified that the limit for resistance of the thermistor is dependant on the value of resistance is the timer circuit

PDP driving circuit requires switching devices and capacitors to stand up high voltages over 160V. This is the main cause that the power consumption and the cost of a PDP driving circuit increase. Conventional PDP driving circuits consist of 3 voltage sources and 16 switching devices. In this paper, we propose a PDP driving circuit using 2 voltage sources and 12 switching devices that can be operated with a lower supply voltage than conventional driving circuit. The operation of the proposed driving circuit is verified by the computer simulation. Simulation results show that the output signal can drive PDP cell when the supply voltage is higher than 45V in the input frequency range 70kHz to 100kHz.
In this paper, a dc-dc power converter scheme with the FPGA based technology is proposed to apply for solar power system which has many features such as the good waveform, high efficiency, low switching losses, and low acoustic noises. The circuit configuration is designed by the conventional control type converter circuit using the isolated dc power supply. This new scheme can be more widely used for industrial power conversion system and many other purposes. Also, I proposed an efficient photovoltaic power interface circuit incorporated with a FPGA based DC-DC converter and a sine-pwm control method full-bridge inverter. The FPGA based DC-DC converter operates at high switching frequency to make the output current a sine wave, whereas the full-bridge inverter operates at low switching frequency which is determined by the ac frequency. As a result, we can get a 1.72% low THD in present state using linear control method. Moreover, we can use stepping control method, we can obtain the switching losses by Sp measured as 0.53W. This paper presents the design of a single-phase photovoltaic inverter model and the simulation of its performance.
In this paper, the authors propose a DC-DC boost converter of high efficiency by partial resonant switching mode, the switching devices in a proposed circuit are operated with soft switching and the control technique of those is simplified for switch to drive in constant duty cycle. The circuit has a merit which is taken to increase of efficiency, as it makes to a regeneration at input source of accumulated energy in snubber condenser without loss of snubber inconventional circuit. The proposed converter is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.
