This paper is about a case study of two brother talents who have a similar genetic factor The researcher who worked as a teacher of the Institute of Talent Education where the two brothers attended for 3 years analyzed and compared the influential variables through the interview of both the students and their parents. Parents have invested to the elder brother showing geniuses so they disciplined him suppressively out of too much expectation. However, they allowed his brother, who showed talents later, more automaticity, supporting him when he himself wanted to study. As a result, the younger brother showed a more creative thinking ability, and a better school performance This paper is significant in that parents's positive disciplining attitude maximize children's genius.

The purpose of this study is to consider the home environment and awareness of elementary school students in the first grade of elementary school, and to find ways to support them. Participants were 31 1st graders in elementary schools nationwide. Data collection was conducted from June 6, 2017 to July 7, 2017. The focus group interview was used as a data collection method for this study. Results were analyzed as 'The Changing family environment that first graders think' and 'First graders' awareness of elementary school'. 'The Changing family environment that first graders think' include 'Changes in language used by parents', 'Changes in how parents and families live', and 'What to do after school'. 'First graders' awareness of elementary school' was analyzed as 'Awareness of Elementary school life', 'Awareness of peers', 'Awareness of homeroom teacher', and 'Awareness of learning'. As the conclusion of this study, we suggest that because the children have more free time than attending kindergarten, they need quality programs and support plans to support their first grade primary adjustment. Also, we propose a common problem facing first-year students: the difficulty of adjusting to study and support for how to study in an easier way.

Researches on prodigies and education for those have recently been progressing in many fields. Education for the gifted, which was basically on Math and Science on the start, now includes Intelligence, Invention, Cultural Sciences, Art, and so on. With the progression towards extremely developed information society, interests in and importance on the courses for the talented get more and more focused. The problem is, however, choosing the gifted and educating them is not an easy matter, since the history of Intelligence Technology is relatively short and it is hard to identify prodigies and categorize what kinds of courses they need. Also, from 2010 "Science Education Institute for the Gifted" freshmen draft, paper-based admission test has been discarded and teacher-recommendation through long-term observation introduced. Therefore needs have been increasing for quality selection methods including observation records, recommendation letters, and portfolios. Reformation on teaching and creative selection methods has been accentuated because of lack of academic base for selecting candidates for education for the gifted. Because of all those mentioned above, reliances for the selection processes during the last three years and the one in 2010, observation records, recommendations and portfolios included, have been analyzed and evaluated. Several factors which can be used instead of paper-based tests were coordinated. Based on it, it was highly possible and has been successful to draft all the applicants in cognitive, sentimental, and creative fields.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of implementing special events within school foodservice operations. A total of 359 questionnaires were distributed to dietitians employed at school foodservice operations in Busan from July 1 to 31, 2006 (response rate: 93%). The results indicated that approximately half of the respondents (47.7%) did not implement special events. The types of special events that foodservice operations had most frequently implemented were 'traditional festival day events' (19.0%), 'subdivisions of the season events' (18.3), 'seasonal events' (17.1%), 'school events' (13.0%), 'single day events' (10.2%). According to the dietitians' characteristics, older dietitians implemented 'healthy food events' more frequently than younger dietitians. 'Traditional festival day events' (p<0.05) and 'subdivisions of the season events' (p<0.01) were more frequently implemented in independently managed foodservices than in contract operations. On the other hand, 'international food events', 'gift events', and 'healthy food events' were more frequently implemented in contract foodservices than in independent operations (p<0.001). Dietitians from elementary and middle schools implemented 'winter solstice', 'midsummer', 'children's day', and 'school foodservice day' events more frequently, whereas dietitians from high schools implemented 'midsummer', 'Valentine's day', and 'teacher's day' events more frequently. Most dietitians (94%) had never received education or training for special event marketing previously. Therefore, these results suggest there may be a need to develop educational programs on special event marketing for dietitians.

Purpose: There is little known about teachers' self-efficacy in health teachers even though over 75% of Korean health teachers have offered school health education. The purpose of this study was to examine factors related to teachers' self-efficacy in Korean health teachers. Methods: Data were collected from school nurses from 474 schools such as 236 elementary schools, 140 middle schools and 98 high schools in Seoul with the stratified random sampling method. The associations among school characteristics, health teachers' characteristics, and teachers' self-efficacy were examined by ANOVA (Anlaysis of variable). To identify the possible predictors of teachers' self-efficacy, ANCOVA (Analysis of covariance) was performed. Results: Two factors, school stage (elementary, middle or high schools) and types of school (public or private school), were significantly related to teachers' self-efficacy. Teachers' self-efficacy of health teachers in elementary schools was significantly higher than that in middle and high schools. Health teachers in private school had significantly higher teaching self-efficacy than ones in public school. Conclusion: Given the fact that health teachers in elementary and private school had higher teachers' self-efficacy, an intervention to strengthen teachers' self-efficacy of health teachers in middle and high schools as well as ones in public school is required to help children and adolescents learn good health behaviors.

This study suggests different improvement practices of adolescents' multicultural acceptability to compare the factors influencing multicultural acceptability with elementary and middle school students. The data used in this study come from the Korean Child and Youth Panel Study(KCYPS) of the National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI) comprising 4,092 responses from 5th grade elementary school students and 4th grade(middle school 2nd grade) of elementary school students. The study data were subjected to hierarchical regression analysis to give the following findings. First, Levels of Multicultural Acceptability were significantly different. Second, factors influencing multicultural acceptability for elementary school students and middle school students were different. Common factors were mother's education level, life's satisfaction, peer relationship, teacher relationship, and spirit of community. Factors for elementary school students's multicultural acceptability were subjective academic achievement, community awareness, experiences of cultural activity, and overseas visiting experiences. The factor for middle school students's multicultural acceptability was family/group travel experiences. Our findings highlight the importance of programs and education that are suitable for children's developmental level. Such peer group programs need to be offered for middle school students to achieve spirit of community and educational group program and various extracurricular activities to achieve community awareness and develop a spirit of community for elementary school students.
This study aims to examine the relationship between physical education class activity of youth, smartphone dependence and school life adaptation. The data set of Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) by National Youth Policy Institute was reanalyzed for this study. The subjects of this study were 2,351 second grade middle school students from 2011. The data were coded with the use of the statistics program on Windows, SPSS 23.0. To analyse the data, descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA and regression analysis were employed. The findings of this research are as follows. First, the difference between the activity hours of youth physical education classes and the reliance on smartphones is less dependent on smartphones as they participate enthusiastically in physical education classes. Second, the difference of physical education class activity time and school life adaptation among adolescents was more positive for school life adaptation as learning activity, peer relationship and teacher relationship were more active. third, the dependence of youth on smartphones has a positive effect on learning activities and school rules as the reliance on smartphones is low.
This study was conducted to obtain a basic information related to a more systematic safety education and measures against children's accidents by a descriptive survey with regard to accidents actually experienced by elementary schoolers, their perceived safety education activities and school facilities to their safety lives. The data was collected among 1,654 pupils, belonging to the 5th and 6th grades in Pusan from Nov. 20 to Dec. 1, 2000. The data was analyzed using SPSSWIN(7.5). The results were as follows ; 1. According to the perception by elementary schoolers, they received safety life instruction at school in most cases from teachers in charge of their own class (41.0%). Such safety education was provided often during formal classes(24.4%). Traffic guidance was given by parents, highest in frequency(67.3%). 2. Matters as most often treated during safety life instruction were safety knowledge or dangerous things(37.5%). A majority of notices of school safety instruction were presented sometimes(48.4%). Source of knowledge about safety lives included teacher (35.3%), parents(32.9%), TV and newspaper (29.9%). As a source of knowledge of emergency treatment, school nurses were accounted for 41.3% that was highest. 3.Among the 1,654 students, 91.8% experienced at least more than one case of safety accident. The most frequent type and cause of safety accident were wound(33.7%). and self-carelessness(38.4%) respectively. In most cases, the subject experienced such accident during a break time(32.2%) and at a playgrounds. Part of body as most often damaged by accidents were arms and legs, 25.4% higher than any other sides problem solving measures against the accident were taken by school nurse in most cases, 44.8% in percentage point. 4. Those students' perceived safety management of school facilities showed that they considered classroom facilities as most safe (61.6%), while playground facilities as least safe(42.8%). They also responded that the treatment of glass fragments or stones at playground is the most important item of safety management.
This study examines whether the reinforcement theory could be effectively applied to teaching assistant robots between a robot and a student in the same way as it is applied to teaching methods between a teacher and a student. Participants interacted with a teaching assistant robot in a 3 (types of robots: positive reinforcement vs. negative reinforcement vs. both reinforcements) by 2 (types of participants: honor students vs. backward students), within-subject experiment. Three different types of robots, such as 'Ching-chan-ee' which gives 'positive reinforcement', 'Um-bul-ee' which gives 'negative reinforcement', and 'Sang-bul-ee' which gives both 'positive and negative reinforcement' were designed based on the reinforcement theory and the token reinforcement system. Subjective impressions and preferences were measured according to the types of robots and the types of participants. Participants preferred the positive reinforcement robot most, and the negative reinforcement robot least. Regarding the number of stimulus, in case of the negative reinforcement robot for honor students, the less the stimulus is, the more positive the impressions toward the robot are. The findings demonstrate that the reinforcement interaction is important and effective factor which determines children's preferences and impressions for teaching assistant robots. The results of this study can be implicated as an effective guideline to interaction design of teaching assistant robots.

As concerns have been raised about the increasing number of children with food allergies, the management of food allergies through the consideration of school meals is an emerging issue. This study investigated the perception and practices regarding food allergy of elementary and middle school nutrition teachers in the Jeonnam area. A total of 236 nutritionists/nutrition teachers participated in the survey and completed questionnaires. The foods most reported to cause allergic reactions were peach, eggs, peanuts, shrimps, mackerel, and milk. Participants reported that the major tasks to be completed for management of food allergies: the estimated number of students with food allergies, the offering of allergy-free or alternative foods and informing families of foods that may cause an allergic reaction. A majority of the participants (94%) recognized that the nutrition teacher has the primary role in managing students with food allergies in school. To manage these students, nutrition teachers mostly reported informing of allergic foods/ingredients in the school menu and the estimation of students with food allergy. The percentage of participants who experienced education programs on food allergies was 16.9%, whereas 97% of participants answered that a good professional education regarding allergies for nutrition teachers is required. The knowledge level evaluated with objective questions was significantly higher than the self-estimated knowledge level. In conclusion, nutrition teachers understood the tasks regarding food allergy thoroughly and that, the tasks are relatively under-practiced. To improve the management of food allergies in school meals, professional education programs regarding food allergies should be provided for nutrition teachers.
