  • The South Korean Navy has operated Harpoon guided missiles through step-by-step acquisition after adopting them for the first time in 1978. As Harpoon guided missiles have been operated for a long time, it is necessary to make an active follow-up logistics support to guarantee their performance. Inspection of guided missiles is a basic activity to check the status of missiles. This study was conducted to check if the existing inspection interval of Harpoon guided missiles that have been operated for a long time was appropriate. Regarding research methods, based on the Navy's field operation materials, this study analyzed and presented inspection interval by section according to the period of operation, utilizing the Martinez's theory and a non-parametric MCF technique.

  • For a system with multiple real-time tasks of different deadlines, it is very difficult to find the optimal checkpoint interval because of the complexity in considering the scheduling of tasks. In this paper, we determine the optimal checkpoint interval for multiple real-time tasks that are scheduled by RM(Rate Monotonic) algorithm. Faults are assumed to occur with Poisson distribution. Checkpoints are inserted in the execution of task with equal distance in the same task, but different distances in other tasks. When faults occur, rollback to the latest checkpoint and re-execute task after the checkpoint. We derive the equation of maximum slack time for each task, and determine the number of re-executable checkpoint intervals for fault recovery. The equation to check the schedulibility of tasks is also derived. Based on these equations, we find the probability of all tasks executed within their deadlines successfully. Checkpoint intervals which make the probability maximum is the optimal.

  • There are so many low power MAC protocols for wireless sensor network. IEEE802.15.4 among them has disadvantage of a large power consumption for synchronization. To save power consumption it use the superframe operation alternating sleep mode and awake mode. But latency is longer result from superframe operation. B-MAC can have shorter latency according to check interval. But transmitter consumes more power because of long preamble. And receiver is suffering from overhearing. In this paper, we use the adaptive check interval scheme[1] of B-MAC for enhancing the power consumption. Its maximum throughput and minimum delay is evaluated by comparing the proposed scheme with a typical single channel IEEE802.15.4.

  • In a wireless smart utility network communication system, an asynchronous low power MAC is standardized and used according to IEEE 802.15.4e. An asynchronous MAC called RIT (Receiver Initiated Transmission) has a characteristic in which delay time and power consumption are greatly affected by a check-in interval (RIT period). By waking up from sleep every check-in interval and checking whether there is data to be received, power consumption in the receiving end can be drastically reduced, but power consumption in the transmitting end occurs due to an excessive wakeup sequence. If an excessive wake-up sequence is reduced by shortening the check interval, power consumption of the receiving end increases due to too frequent wake-up. In the RIT asynchronous MAC technique, power consumption performance according to traffic load and operation of check-in interval is analyzed and applied to Wi-SUN construction.

  • Gauss and Laplace methods for initial orbit determination (IOD) are classical orbit determination tools and have been used very efficiently in optical satellite surveillance system. Several studies related to these two methods have been released until now. In this study, we found that the trends of IOD accuracy for different time interval between three pairs of measurement datas show unexpected results. Therefore, we checked the possible cause of these differences. In order to check various orbit types, we used most of satellite data which is able to obtain. To check the characteristics of methodology-only, we used simulated observation data. And we used real observation data for specific satellites to check the characteristics appeared when we applyed these methods to optical satellite surveillance system. As a result, we found that trends of IOD accuracy for time interval could be different because of satellite position observed.

  • Point-of-Interest(POI) recommendation systems suggest the most interesting POIs to users considering the current location and time. With the rapid development of smartphones, internet-of-things, and location-based social networks, it has become feasible to accumulate huge amounts of user POI visits. Therefore, instant recommendation of interesting POIs at a given time is being widely recognized as important. To increase the performance of POI recommendation systems, several studies extracting users' POI sequential preference from POI check-in data, which is intended for implicit feedback, have been suggested. However, when constructing a model utilizing sequential preference, the model encounters possibility of data distortion because of a low number of observed check-ins which is attributed to intensified data sparsity. This paper suggests refinement of temporal intervals based on data confidence. When building a POI recommendation system using temporal intervals to model the POI sequential preference of users, our methodology reduces potential data distortion in the dataset and thus increases the performance of the recommendation system. We verify our model's effectiveness through the evaluation with the Foursquare and Gowalla dataset.

  • In recent years, research on smart factory wireless mobile communication technology that wirelessly remotely controls utilities is being actively conducted. The Wi-SUN (Wireless Smart Utility Network) Alliance proposed a Wi-SUN protocol structure suitable for building a platform such as a smart factory as a new wireless communication standardization standard based on EEE802.15.4g/e. It analyzes the performance of the IEEE802.15.4e Receiver Initiated Transmission(RIT) Mode Media Access Control (MAC) in terms of throughput and latency, and looks at considerations for efficient operation. RIT mode shows that as the check interval becomes longer, delay time and throughput decrease. It was shown that as the traffic load increases, if the RIT check interval is shortened, the delay time can be shortened and throughput can be increased. RIT mode has the advantage of low power consumption and has neutral characteristics between IEEE802.15.4 and CSL mode in terms of delay time and throughput.

  • In this paper, an analytic model of sleep model operation in the IEEE 802.16e is investigated. A mobile subscribe. station (MSS) goes to sleep mode after negotiations with the base station (BS) and wakes up periodically for a short interval to check whether there is downlink traffic to it. If the arrival of traffic is notified, an MSS returns to wake mode. Otherwise, it again enters increased sleep interval which is double as the previous one. In order to consider the situation more practically, we propose the sleep mode starting threshold, during which MSS should await packets before it enters the sleep mode. By modifying the M/G/1 with multiple vacations model, energy consumption ratio(ECR) and average packet response time are calculated. Our analytic model provides potential guidance in determining the optimal parameters values such as sleep mode starting threshold, minimal sleep and maximal sleep window.

  • The PDCA (Plan, Do, Check and Act) cycle is often used in the field of quality management. Recently, business environments have become more competitive, and the due time of products has shortened. In a short production run process, to increase efficiency of management, the necessity for distinguishing the PDCA design that starts with PLAN and the CAPD design that starts with CHECK has been clarified. Starting from Duncan (1956), there have been a number of papers dealing with the economic design of control charts from the viewpoint of production run. Some authors (Gibra, 1971; Ladany and Bedi, 1976; etc.) have studied the economic design for finite-length runs; other authors (Crowder, 1992; Del Castillo and Montgomery, 1996; etc.) have studied the economic design for short runs. However, neither the PDCA nor the CAPD design of control charts has been considered. In this paper, both the PDCA and CAPD designs of the $\bar{\x}$ chart are defined based on Del Castillo and Montgomery's design (1996), and their mathematical formulations are shown. Then from an economic viewpoint, the optimal values of the sample size per each sampling, control limits width, and the sampling interval of the two designs are studied. Finally, by numerically analyzing the relations between the key parameters and the total expected cost per unit time, the comparisons between the two designs are considered in detail.
