In this study, we investigated the C-V diagrams and metal surface related to the electrochemistry characterization of metal(nickel, SUS-304). We determined electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential to -1350mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV and measured to the initial point. The scan rate were 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 mV/s. As a result, the C-V characterization of metal using N,N-dimethylacetamide and N,N-dimethylformamide inhibitors appeared irreversible process caused by the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. After adding organic corrosion inhibitors, adsorption film constituted, and the passive phenomena happened. According to the results by cyclic voltammetry method, it was revealed that the addition of inhibitors containing amide functional group enhances the corrosion resistance properties.

Thermal characterization of individual pixels in microbolometer infrared image sensors is needed for optimal design and improved performance. In this work, we used thermoreflectance microscopy on uncooled microbolometer image sensors to investigate the thermal characteristics of individual pixels. Two types of microbolometer image sensors with a shared-anchor structure were fabricated and thermally characterized at various biases and vacuum levels by measuring the temperature distribution on the surface of the microbolometers. The results show that thermoreflectance microscopy can be a useful thermal characterization tool for microbolometer image sensors.
Proper reservoir characterization is an integral part of formation evaluation, reserve estimation and planning of field development. Seismic inversion is a widely employed reservoir characterization tool that provides various rock properties of reservoir intervals. This study presents results of the inversion studies including Geostatistical Inversion carried out on the gas fields, offshore Myanmar. Higher resolution and multiple models can be produced by Geostatistical Inversion using input data such as pre-stack seismic data, well logs, petrophysical relationships and geological inferences for example reservoir shape and lateral extent. Detailed reservoir characterization was required for the development plan of gas fields, and the Geostatistical Inversion studies served as a basis for integrated geological modeling and development well planning.

Direct growth of graphene using CVD method has been done on CVD grown boron nitride substrate. From the SEM image, we have shown that the size of grain of graphene could be clearly controlled by varying the amount of injected hydrocarbon. To convince the existence of graphene on boron nitride, XPS and Raman has been checked. Both B1s and N1s peaks in XPS spectra and the Raman peak around 1,370 $cm^{-1}$ demonstrated that boron nitride did remain after high temperature treatment during the graphene growth process. And along the graphene grain boundary, the Raman fingerprint of graphene was neatly appeared.
Digital video camera can be a useful tool to capture images for use in colorimeter. However, the RGB signals generated by different digital video camera are not equal for the same scene. The digital video camera for use in colorimeter is characterized based on the CIE standard colorimetric observer. One method of deriving a colorimetric characterization matrix between camera RGB output signals and CIE XYZ tristimulus values is Polynomial modeling. In this paper, 3${\times}$3 linear matrix and 3${\times}$l1 polynomial matrix is used to investigate the characterization performance of the professional digital video camera. In experimental results, it is demonstrated that proposed 3${\times}$3 linear matrix has a reasonable degree of accuracy for use in colorimeter.
The reconstruction characteristics of MgO (111) textured protective layer by over-frequency accelerated discharge in AC-PDP were investigated and correlated to the variations of electronic structures. The reconstruction process and exaggerated grain growth (EGG) were explained by defect-assisted 2-D nucleation and growth mechanism combined with charged cluster model.
The mechanical characterization of composite materials is nowadays a major interest due to their increasing use in the aeronautic industry. The design of most of these materials is based on their stiffness, which is mainly obtained by means of tensile tests with strain gauge measurement. For thin laminated composites, this classical method requires adequate samples with specific orientation and does not provide all the independent elastic constants. Regarding ultrasonic characterization, especially immersion technique, only one specimen is needed and the entire determination of the stiffness tensor is possible. This paper presents a study of different methods to determine the mechanical properties of transversely isotropic carbon fibre composite materials (gauge and correlation strain measurement during tensile tests, ultrasonic immersion technique). Results are compared to ISO standards and manufacturer data to evaluate the accuracy of these techniques.

In the high-frequency characterizations of planar circuit components, measurement data may not be physical. It is mainly due to resonance effects concerned with discontinuities which are inevitable for a planar component characterization. In this paper, a novel accurate transmission line characterization method is presented that excludes the resonance effects based on measurement data reconfirmation. For the physically obvious data acquisition near the resonance frequencies of a transmission line, the additional lines with different line lengths are fabricated on the same substrate. The test transmission lines are characterized by using vector network analyzer (VNA) in 100 MHz to 26.5 GHz. It is shown that an accurate transmission line characterization can be achieved with the proposed measurement data reconfirmation technique.
The problem whether a given grammar G generates an LL language or not is investigated in respect of LL transformable grammars. The previous work involves a nondeterministic intricated parser construction for the characterization of LL transformable grammars. The method hence does not give the intuitive understanding of the essence of LL languages. This paper suggests a characterization of LL transformable grammars based on grammatical derivations instead of the complicated parser construction. The new characterization contributes to intuitive understanding of the essence of LL languages.
Surface modifications using a radio frequency Ar-plasma treatment were performed on a polypropylene (PP) blend used for automotive bumper fascia. The surface characterization and morphology were examined. With increasing aging time, there was an increase in wettability, oxygen containing polar functional groups (i.e., C-O, C=O and O-C=O) due to oxidation, the amount of tale, and bearing depth and roughness on the PP surface, while there was a decrease in the number of hydrocarbon groups (i.e., C-C and C-H). AFM indicated that the Ar-plasma-treatment on a PP blend surface transforms the wholly annular surface into a locally dimpled surface, leading to an improvement in wettability. SEM showed that the PP layer observed in the non-plasma-treated sample was removed after the Ar-plasma treatment and the rubber particles were exposed to the surface. The observed surface characterization and morphologies are responsible for the improved wettability and interfacial adhesion between the PP blend substrate and bumper coating layers.
