자동게이트통관시스템에 사용하기 위한 ASK 변조기 MMIC 구현 (The Development of ASK Modulator for using Automatic Gate Passing System)

  • We have designed and fabricated ASK modulator MMIC operating at 5.8GHz for OBE used in AGPS (Automatic Gate Passing System). ASK modulator MMIC was designed to apply a sing1e supply voltage of 3V to the drain in order to decrease ACP (Adjacent Channel Power). The measurement result of this chip exhibits on/off characteristic over 30dB. The design parameters are optimized through ADS simulation tool. The layouts and fabrication o( ASK Modulator MMIC were designed and fabricated by using ETRI 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ MESFET library. The chip sizes were 1mm $\times$1mm. The performance analysis of the implemented ASK Modulator based on the design parameters is accomplished.

Mixed CT/DT Cascaded Sigma-Delta Modulator

  • A mixed CT/DT 2-1 cascaded ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ which includes a first stage CT ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ and a second stage mismatch insensitive two-channel time-interleaved DT ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ is proposed. With this approach, the advantages of both CT and DT ${\Sigma\Delta}Ms$ including high speed operation, inherent anti-aliasing filter, and good coefficient matching can be achieved. The two-channel time-interleaved ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ used in the second stage alleviates the speed constraints of the DT ${\Sigma\Delta}M$, whereas enables better matching between the analog and digital filter coefficients compared to CT ${\Sigma\Delta}Ms$.

  • An electro-optic cutoff modulator with self-aligned electrode that utilizes a single-mode proton-diffused well-guided channel waveguide in a X-cut Y-propagating $LiNbO_3$ substrate is reported. The self-aligned electrode is formed during proton diffusion process of itself. Nearly linear voltage-intensity relationship has been observed. Over 90 % modulation has been achieved with applied voltage of 25 V.

직교 변.복조기의 채널불균형 보정특성 (Compensation characteristics of channel imbalance in quadrature modulator and demodulator)

  • This paper presents a method of compensating for the gain and phase imbalance of quadrature modulator and demodulator. The gain and phase imbalance are compensated using the received power after the compensation pattern was transmitted at tranceiver. The proposed method is less vulnerable to changes in the transmission channel than the conventional method because compensation is made possible within the tranceiver system, and even the change in phase mblance in accordance with frequency can be compensated utilizing the adaptive algorithm. According to numerical results, a normalized eye opening and a bit error rate are improved by 1.8dB and 3.8dB, respectively.

Intramolecular Disulfide Bonds for Biogenesis of Calcium Homeostasis Modulator 1 Ion Channel Are Dispensable for Voltage-Dependent Activation

  • Calcium homeostasis modulator 1 (CALHM1) is a membrane protein with four transmembrane helices that form an octameric ion channel with voltage-dependent activation. There are four conserved cysteine (Cys) residues in the extracellular domain that form two intramolecular disulfide bonds. We investigated the roles of C42-C127 and C44-C161 in human CALHM1 channel biogenesis and the ionic current (ICALHM1). Replacing Cys with Ser or Ala abolished the membrane trafficking as well as ICALHM1. Immunoblotting analysis revealed dithiothreitol-sensitive multimeric CALHM1, which was markedly reduced in C44S and C161S, but preserved in C42S and C127S. The mixed expression of C42S and wild-type did not show a dominant-negative effect. While the heteromeric assembly of CALHM1 and CALHM3 formed active ion channels, the co-expression of C42S and CALHM3 did not produce functional channels. Despite the critical structural role of the extracellular cysteine residues, a treatment with the membrane-impermeable reducing agent tris(2-carboxyethyl) phosphine (TCEP, 2 mM) did not affect ICALHM1 for up to 30 min. Interestingly, incubation with TCEP (2 mM) for 2-6 h reduced both ICALHM1 and the surface expression of CALHM1 in a time-dependent manner. We propose that the intramolecular disulfide bonds are essential for folding, oligomerization, trafficking and maintenance of CALHM1 in the plasma membrane, but dispensable for the voltage-dependent activation once expressed on the plasma membrane.

Integrated-Optic Electric-Field Sensor Utilizing a Ti:LiNbO3 Y-fed Balanced-Bridge Mach-Zehnder Interferometric Modulator With a Segmented Dipole Antenna

  • We have demonstrated a $Ti:LiNbO_3$ electro-optic electric-field sensor utilizing a $1{\times}2$ Y-fed balanced-bridge Mach-Zehnder interferometric (YBB-MZI) modulator, which uses a 3-dB directional coupler at the output and has two complementary output waveguides. A dc switching voltage of ~25 V and an extinction ratio of ~12.5 dB are observed at a wavelength of $1.3{\mu}m$. For a 20 dBm rf input power, the minimum detectable electric fields are ~8.21, 7.24, and ~13.3 V/m, corresponding to dynamic ranges of ~10, ~12, and ~7 dB at frequencies of 10, 30, and 50 MHz respectively. The sensors exhibit almost linear response for an applied electric-field intensity from 0.29 V/m to 29.8 V/m.

  • A Tx modulator of the AMPS cellular wireless communication has been implemented using the PLL synthesizer, of which is modified for multiple frequency output capability. The frequency range is in 825-845 MHz with the 666 channels of 30KHz channel spacing and its switching time is less than 40 msec. The purpose of this paper is to develope the PLL frequency synthesizer with the high speed pulse swallow prescaler in order to save power consumption and cost. The PLL frequency synthesizer is studied in this paper to apply the cellular communication modulator.

Multi-Channel Audio CODEC with Channel Interference Suppression

  • A multi-channel audio CODEC with inter-channel interference suppression is proposed, in which channel switching noise-referred sampling error is significantly reduced. It also supports a coarse/fine mode operation for fast frequency tracking with good harmonic performance. The proposed multi-channel audio CODEC was designed in a 65 nm CMOS process. Measured results indicated that SNR and SNDR of ADC were 93 dB and 84dB, respectively, with SNDR improved by 43 dB. Those of DAC were 96 dB and 87 dB, respectively, with SNDR improved by 45 dB when all the channels are running independently.

  • 본 논문에서는 ITS 서비스를 위해 개발된 5.8 GHz대역 근거리 전용 무선 통신을 이용한 자동게이트통관시스템의 차량탑재장치(OBE) 구성요소 중 ASK 변조기를 설계 및 제작하였다. 제안된 ASK 변조기는 인접채널간섭을 줄이기 위하여 3 V 단일전압 드레인 제어 변조회로로 설계되었으며 0.7 - 3 V의 넓은 선형변조영역과 40 dB 이상의 On/off Ratio 특성을 얻었다. 회로의 Layout과 공정은 ETRI 0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ MESFET Library를 사용하였고 칩 면적은 1.0mm $\times$ 1.0mmn로 제작하였다.

  • This paper presents a method to determine the rolloff factors of both the digital terrestrial TV modulator and the bandpass filter (BPF) at the digital TV receiver input, using an analytical power spectral density model satisfying given co-channel and adjacent channel protection ratios for the digital terrestrial broadcasting services. Since the proposed method is very simple and effective to use, also can be used regardless of type of systems or modulation techniques, this method is expected to be applied to select some other digital terrestrial broadcasting system specifications.
