  • This paper formulates resource allocation for decode-and-forward (DF) relay assisted multi-cell orthogonal frequency division multiple (OFDM) networks as an optimization problem taking into account of inter-cell interference and users fairness. To maximize the transmit rate of system we propose a joint interference coordination, subcarrier and power allocation algorithm. To reduce the complexity, this semi-distributed algorithm divides the primal optimization into three sub-optimization problems, which transforms the mixed binary nonlinear programming problem (BNLP) into standard convex optimization problems. The first layer optimization problem is used to get the optimal subcarrier distribution index. The second is to solve the problem that how to allocate power optimally in a certain subcarrier distribution order. Based on the concept of equivalent channel gain (ECG) we transform the max-min function into standard closed expression. Subsequently, with the aid of dual decomposition, water-filling theorem and iterative power allocation algorithm the optimal solution of the original problem can be got with acceptable complexity. The third sub-problem considers dynamic co-channel interference caused by adjacent cells and redistributes resources to achieve the goal of maximizing system throughput. Finally, simulation results are provided to corroborate the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a method of superimposing the rotation phases over the pilot and data symbols in order to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM). The phases of the rotation vector are added to those of the pilot symbols and those of the data symbols by interlaying them between any two pilot symbols. The receiver restores the data symbols by utilizing the channel estimation of the pilot symbols. Therefore, the bandwidth efficiency is improved by not using the subcarriers that are assigned for the reduction of the PAPR. Also, the enormous increase of the bit error rate which would be caused by incorrectly receiving the side information, i.e. the phases of the rotation vector, is prevented. The simulation results of the bit error rate performance for the BPSK are given using the COST-207 channel model.

  • A Markov model for the IEEE 802.11 standard which is the most widely deployed wireless LAN protocol, is designed and the channel throughput is evaluated. The DCF of 802.11, which is based on CSMA/CA protocol, coordinates transmissions onto the shared communication channel. In this paper, under a finite load traffic condition and the assumption of packet loss after the final backoff stage. We present an algorithm to find the transmission probability and derive the formula for the channel throughput. The proposed model is validated through simulation and is compared with the case without packet losses.

  • In this paper, hybrid mode beamforming (HMB) which allows simultaneous transmission of joint beamforming and disjoint beamforming is proposed. HMB is proven to be asymptotically optimal beamforming for sum rate growth. Extensive simulations show that HMB achieves nearly the same performance as joint encoding (JE) in symmetric interference channel. It is also shown that it outperforms JE in a more realistic asymmetric interference channel environment, though it still experiences some performance degradation due to power inefficiency of joint beamforming in asymmetric channel.

  • Vehicular Ad-hoc Network the core technology of ITS supports safety service or information service to driver and passenger on the roads utilizing V2V and V2I communication. WAVE, the standard of the vehicular ad hoc networks, adopts IEEE 802.11p as MAC protocol and includes the channel coordination algorithm to utilize multiple channels. However, this standard shows the problem related with QoS guarantee of urgent data for driver's safety and the limitation of the performance improvement. In this paper, we introduce WAVE-based Multi-channel MAC protocols that have proposed to resolve above problems and describe their features.

  • In this paper, the performance of a Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol using stop-and-Wait automatic Repeat reQuest, which is adapted as a draft standard in IEEE 802.11, is analyzed using a mathematical method based on a renewal theory, and simulation checks are performed, which confirm the goodness of our anlysis. In order to anlayze of CSMA/CA, we model that network is composed of finite populationand channel is slotted. And, we consider the CSMA/CA protocol as a hybrid protocol of 1-persistent CSMA and p-persistent CSMA protocol. As resuls of analysis, we have found that the throughput is degraded and packet delay is increased as the number of stations, Acknowledgement (ACK) length and Distributed coordination function Inter Frame Space (DIFS) length are increased.

  • In heterogeneous networks, the almost blank subframes (ABS) for inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC), which can be protected from the CCI due to unutilized subframes (i.e., ABS) is proposed. However, the analytical model for ABS-based systems has not been fully studied yet. In this paper, we derive a new analytical model to evaluate the performance of ABS-based systems. In an analytic model, we assume that each carrier in multicarrier systems, such as in OFDMA, is subject to large-scale fading, which is independent of other carriers. As a performance measure, we present the cumulative distribution function (CDF) for the effective SINR. We show the accuracy of the analytical model via simulation results.

  • The purpose of study is to identify trophic pathways from organic matter to macroinvertebrates in terms of the consumer and to characterize the food webs in an intermittent stream system of the Echi River in Japan. The ${\delta}^{13}C$ values of macroinvertebrates and their potential food sources indicated the scraper (Psephenoides spp., Ecdyonurus levis) and collector-gatherer (Ephemera strigata, Paraleptonphlebia chocolata) feed on periphyton and POM (particulate organic matter) in situ. Davidius lunatus, and Hexatoma spp., which were identified as predators, may feed upon Ephemera strigata and Stenelmis larvae, respectively. At station characterized by seepage water, the ${\delta}^{15}N$ values of Ecdyonurus levis, Lymnaea auricularia, and Rhyacophila nigrocephala larva probably showed relatively lower values according to its diets. Even in homogenous species, the trophic pathways of macroinvertebrates in situ exhibited considerable variation; this reflected the trophic pathways from organic matter to the consumer depending on habitat characteristics in stream.

  • There are two coordination functions in IEEE 802.11 standard. One is PCF, polling based function, and the other is DCF, contention based function. DCF is simpler than PCF but the performance is similar with the latter. That's the reason why DCF is more popular than PCF. However, DCF has a risk of collision with other nodes in the network because the function is a distributed contention based one. CSMA/CA of DCF has collision avoidance algorithm in it, but the performance of avoidance algorithm has limitations. In this paper we proposed a new scheme called TAR(Tone-based Access scheme with Repetitive conention). In TAR, there is narrow contention-only channel other than original data transmitting channel, so that both a data transmission and the contention can be performed simultaneously. The TAR uses the same contention concept with the CSMA/CA, but it has the originality for the narrow contention channel and the repetitive contention scheme which greatly reduce the collision probability. We proved the performance of TAR by some simulations, and it showed good results.

  • In this paper, a testing architecture and procedure that an idle ATM virtual channel can be utilized for TCP channel is proposed. Four kinds or methodologies for protocol conformance testing have been standardized in ISO. Remote testing method used popularly have some disadvantages that developer must operate system manually in case of System Under Test (SUT) active testing and we cannot control and observe Implementation Under Test (IUT) often. It is proper to adopt distribute testing method than remote test in order to maximize test coverage and optimize fault coverage for conformance testing in ATM systems, and it is required that TCP channel is prepared for distribute testing method. The proposed architecture can adopt distributed testing method without extra physical channel for testing control. Also we can maximize the test coverage and implement the automation of testing without intervention of operator sustaining normal operation of ATM equipment.
