  • Dynamic behavior of the harmonic detection part of an active power filter (APF) has an essential role in filter compensation performances during transient conditions. Instantaneous power (p-q) theory is extensively used to design harmonic detectors for active filters. Large overshoot of p-q theory method deteriorates filter response at a large and rapid load change. In this study the harmonic estimation of an APF during transient conditions for balanced three-phase nonlinear loads is conducted. A novel fuzzy instantaneous power (FIP) theory is proposed to improve conventional p-q theory dynamic performances during transient conditions to adapt automatically to any random and rapid nonlinear load change. Adding fuzzy rules in p-q theory improves the decomposition of the alternating current components of active and reactive power signals and develops correct reference during rapid and random current variation. Modifying p-q theory internal high-pass filter performance using fuzzy rules without any drawback is a prospect. In the simulated system using MATLAB/SIMULINK, the shunt active filter is connected to a rapidly time-varying nonlinear load. The harmonic detection parts of the shunt active filter are developed for FIP theory-based and p-q theory-based algorithms. The harmonic detector hardware is also developed using the TMS320F28335 digital signal processor and connected to a laboratory nonlinear load. The software is developed for FIP theory-based and p-q theory-based algorithms. The simulation and experimental tests results verify the ability of the new technique in harmonic detection of rapid changing nonlinear loads.

  • Recently, there have been several researches on automatic object identification and distributed computing technology to realize a ubiquitous computing environment. Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology has been applied to many business areas to simplify complex processes and gain important benefits. To derive real benefits from RFID, the system must rapidly implement functions to process a large quantity of event data generated by the RFID operations and should be configured dynamically for changing businesses. Consequently, developers are forced to implement systems to derive meaningful high-level events from simple RFID events and bind them to various business processes. Although applications could directly consume and act on RFID events, extracting the business rules from the business logic leads to better decoupling of the system, which consequentially increases maintainability. In this paper, we describe an RFID business aware framework for business processes in the Electronic Product Code (EPC) Network. This framework is proposed for developing business applications using business services. The term "business services" refers to generated events that can be used in business applications without additional data collection and processing. The framework provides business rules related to data collection, processing, and management, and supports the rapid development and easy maintenance of business applications based on business services.

  • The FX (Foreign Exchange) is a form of exchange for the global decentralized trading of international currencies. The simple sense of Forex is simultaneous purchase and sale of the currency or the exchange of one country's currency for other countries'. We can find the consistent rules of trading by comparing the gradient boosting method and the decision trees methods. Methods such as time series analysis used for the prediction of financial markets have advantage of the long-term forecasting model. On the other hand, it is difficult to reflect the rapidly changing price fluctuations in the short term. Therefore, in this study, gradient boosting method and decision tree method are applied to analyze the short-term data in order to make the rules for the revenue structure of the FX market and evaluated the stability and the prediction of the model.

  • Tree type of Rule Case will be processed by the method that provide practical Rule Case to Rule Engine that is made with procedural language beforehand, then the Rule Engine according to the condition of the special Rule Case to return result in current Rule-Based System. There are two disadvantages in the method; the first is according to specific business rule after construct the Rule Engine when the business rule changing the Rule Engine also must be changed. The second is when Rule have many conditions the Rule Engine will become very complex and the speed of processing Rule Case will become very slow. In this paper, we will propose a simplified algorithm that according to the theory of ID Tree to produce Rules which be used in Rule-Based System. The algorithm can not only produce Rules but also make sure of satisfying change of business rule by execute the algorithm. Because it is not necessary to make a Rule Engine, we will anticipate effect of increasing speed and reducing cost from Rule-Based System of applying the algorithm.

  • The inherent complexity of semiconductor fabrication processes makes it hard to solve well-known job scheduling problems in analytical ways, which leads us to rely practically on discrete event modeling simulations to learn the effects of changing the system's parameters. Meanwhile, unpredictable disturbances such as machine failures and maintenance diminish the productivity of semiconductor manufacturing processes with fixed scheduling policies; thus, it is necessary to adapt job scheduling policy in a timely manner in reaction to critical environmental changes (disturbances) in order for the fabrication process to perform optimally. This paper proposes an adaptive job control framework for a wafer fabrication process in a control system theoretical approach and implements it based on a DEVS modeling simulation environment. The proposed framework has the advantages in view of the whole systems understanding and flexibility of applying new rules compared to most ad-hoc software approaches in this field. Furthermore, it is flexible enough to incorporate new job scheduling rules into the existing rule set. Experimental results show that this control framework with adaptive rescheduling outperforms fixed job scheduling algorithms.

  • This study will focus on research and analysis covering the period of time since the creation of the People's Republic of China to current day China, with an emphasis on 20-something year-old women living in Shanghai. In conducting this research, historical evidence of fashion was derived from books, photographs, and Internet resources pertaining to the specific periods of interest. Furthermore, each set of data has been organized in approximately decade-long segments that best reflect the transformation of Chinese fashion from 1949 to 2000. As a result of the countrywide emphasis placed on revitalization of the newly created Chinese state during the period of 1949 to 1965, detail to fashion was largely ignored, in preference to the successful upstart of a working economic foundation. This neglect of fashion is evident by the scarcity of new and daring styles during this period. The following the period of 1966 to 1977 ushered in a cultural revolution that was aptly demonstrated in the changing fashion tastes. When compared with the previous period, the blandness of clothing, authorized by the Chinese government clearly reflected the rules and regulations strictly enforced by a government mandate of conformity and obedience. These orthodox changes were so drastic, that women wearing these clothes could hardly be differentiated from men in the same style wear. After Mao Ze Dong's death in 1976 and the end of the sternest period of the Chinese Revolution, a new era of Chinese culture and fashion was made possible by a more lax and tolerant government. During the later palt of the seventies through the eighties, this new governmental policy fostered more openness and self-expression, both of which led to a newfound interest in expressing one's desires and personality through the clothes he or she chose to wear.

  • Even though internet community is becoming the basic communication tool with rapidly changing internet environment, its damage is on the rise due to increasing spam messages of unspecified individuals. Currently, various methods to block spam mails, but studies on block spam messages from being automatically posted in community are still insufficient. This study suggested methods to block spam messages in internet community by collecting spam messages posted in internet community to analyze characteristics and frequencies of the messages and create block regulations. It collects spam messages of all messages saved in database of internet community, analyze the collected messages to create normalized rules that can define spam messages, and inspect spam messages among posted messages by using the regulations to block them. The suggested method has a structure that can block various types of spam messages by using information of spam messages collected and flexibly deal with changing spam message types.

  • The purposes of this study were to classify the changing periods of apartment outdoor space in Korea and to clearly understand the specific characteristics of each period. The study has been done through on-site observation of apartment complexes, and through the analysis of housing estate planning techniques, rules and regulations affecting outdoor spaces during the rapidly developing era. The results of this study shows that three major periods with distinct characteristics were found, which were as follows: 1) The first well defined period spans from 1960 to 1990. In this period, apartment construction was rapid, and as a result, quality of housing environments were sacrificed. As little attention was given to the landscapes in apartment complex, they were constructed very simple and identical in outdoor space of apartment complex. This period can be referred to as the 'commonly universal period in apartment outdoor space'. 2) The second period spans from 1991 to 1996, during which time a housing construction project for two million residences was completed in order to significantly stimulate the provision of houses to the general public. As a result, regulations were relaxed causing housing environments to deteriorate. Although apartments were constructed very close together, there was some diversification and experimentation in outdoor styles. This period can be referred to as the 'congestion period of apartment outdoor space'. 3) The third period spans from 1997 to the present. During this time the number of unsold apartments has grown considerably throughout the country. Many different apartment complex marketing strategies have been employed to reduced the glut of unsold apartments. This experimental trend has continued and been well-received since the IMF period. The distinguishing characteristics of this period are the introduction of a rich natural landscape, the increase in communications among residents, the human oriented design, and the refined and elegant design for the outdoor street furnitures. As a result, this period can be named the "differentiation period of apartment outdoor space".

  • In ad hoc network, the scarce energy management of the mobile devices has become a critical issue in order to extend the network lifetime. Therefore, the energy consumption is important in the routing design, otherwise cluster schemes are efficient in energy conserving. For the above reasons, an Energy conserving Context aware Clustering algorithm (ECC) is proposed to establish the network clustering structure, and a routing algorithm is introduced to choose the Optimal Energy Routing Protocol (OERP) path in this paper. Because in ad hoc network, the topology, nodes residual energy and energy consuming rate are dynamic changing. The network system should react continuously and rapidly to the changing conditions, and make corresponding action according different conditions. So we use the context aware computing to actualize the cluster head node, the routing path choosing. In this paper, we consider a novel routing protocol using the cluster schemes to find the optimal energy routing path based on a special topology structure of Resilient Ontology Multicasting Routing Protocol (RODMRP). The RODMRP is one of the hierarchical ad hoc network structure which combines the advantage of the tree based and the mesh based network. This scheme divides the nodes in different level found on the node energy condition, and the clustering is established based on the levels. This protocol considered the residual energy of the nodes and the total consuming energy ratio on the routing path to get the energy efficiently routing. The proposed networks scheme could get better improve the awareness for data to achieve and performance on their clustering establishment and messages transmission. Also, by using the context aware computing, according to the condition and the rules defined, the sensor nodes could adjust their behaviors correspondingly to improve the network routing.

  • Recently intelligent characters in computer games have been an important element more and more because they continually stimulate gamers' interests. As a typical method for implementing such intelligent characters, neural networks have been used for training action patterns of opponent's characters and game rules. However, some of the game rules can be abruptly changed and action properties of garners in on-line game environments are quite different according to gamers. In this paper, we address how a neural network adapts to those environmental changes. Our adaptation solution includes two components: an individual adaptation mechanism and a group adaptation mechanism. With the individual adaptation algorithm, an intelligent character steadily checks its game score, assesses the environmental change with taking into consideration of the lastly earned scores, and initiates a new learning process when a change is detected. In multi-user games, including massively multiple on-line games, intelligent characters confront diverse opponents that have various action patterns and strategies depending on the gamers controlling the opponents. The group adaptation algorithm controls the birth of intelligent characters to conserve an equilibrium state of a game world by using a genetic algorithm. To show the performance of the proposed schemes, we implement a simple fighting action game and experiment on it with changing game rules and opponent characters' action patterns. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms are able to make intelligent characters adapt themselves to the change.
