  • We report field relationship, petrography and major and trace element chemistry for the central part of the Seoul granitic bathlith of Jurassic age occurring in the Kyonggi massif. The batholith consists mainly of biotite granite (BG) and garnet biotite granite (GBG) with minor tonalite-quartz diorite and biotite granodiorite with or without hornblende. The mode data, along with the those reported by Hong (1984) for the biotite granite (south-BG) in the southern part of the batholith, indicate that the many of BGs and majority of GBG and south-BG are leucocratic. Major element data indicate that these predominant rocks of the batholith are peraluminous. Variation trends in Harker diagrams for the major and trace elements suggest that the BG and GBG are not related by a simple crystal fractionation process. The same is true between the central (BG and GBG) and the southern (south-BG) parts of the batholith, suggesting that the central and southern parts of the Seoul batholith may consist of three separate intrusions. Tectonic discriminations using major and trace element data and the age of emplacement suggest that the batholith represents Jurassic plutonism related to an orogeny, perhaps to a subduction-related continental magmatic arc.

  • A study of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) have been carried out to understand the tectonic stress field of late Cretaceous-Tertiary strata in Yangsan area. A total of 119 independently oriented core samples were collected from 9 sites throughout the area. The study results show that 5 sites are characterized by load foliation, and 4 sites by tectonic foliation. Load foliations caused by the weight of the overlying strata occur in the central part of the study area. Tectonic foliations created by compressional tectonic force show a regional variation in direction: Direction of compression axes derived from tectonic foliation in the southern part of the study area is approximately WNW-ESE, while it changes into NE-SW northern part of the study area. Such compressional directions are compatible with the lineament directions in each area.

  • In this study, the field applicability on reducing the heat of hydration of mass concrete by using the hydration heat difference method is analyzed with the following summary. As a result of applying the hydration heat difference method by using low heating combination, the temperature difference between the central part and the surface part of mass material was reduced, and as a result of visual observation, there was no showing of cracks by the hydration heat on the upper surface part. Therefore, the cracking index of the field to apply this method was shown to be approximately 1.57 with very little crack occurrence probability of less than 3%.

  • A hollow flanged spindle is generally used for the assembly of the driving shaft in some vehicles. This part has conventionally been manufactured by both hot forging and machining process, in which case a circular billet is hot-forged into a flanged spindle blank and then its central part is machined for hollow. Therefore, the development of a new forming technology without further machining processes has strongly been in demand. In this study, a new compound forging process of the hollow flanged spindle was proposed through the finite element simulation. By the proposed compound forging process, both extruding of the spindle body part and piercing for the hollow inside it can be performed at the same time. Metal flow patterns, forging defects and forging forces were investigated through the finite element simulation results.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to clarify the relationship between the development of the Uro cave and the characteristics of the landform development. The mountain systems of the study area are north-western part. central part and south-eastern part. The third order streams are developed, and the bifurcation ratios are 7.0 and 4.0. The drainage density and the networks of the streams are not well developed in this area. The rocks of this area are sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks and Igneous rocks. The soils are lithosol, and red-brownish soils.

  • Presented herein is a numerical study for evaluating the aerodynamic behaviour of equipped bridge deck sections. In the first part, the method adopted is described, in particular concerning turbulence models, meshing requirements and numerical approach. The validation of the procedure represents the aim of the second part of the paper: the results of the numerical simulation in case of two-dimensional, steady, incompressible, turbulent flow around a realistic bridge deck are compared to the data collected from wind-tunnel tests. In order to demonstrate the influence of the section details and of the partial streamlining of the deck geometry on its aerodynamic behaviour, in the third part of the paper the effect of the fairings and of each item of equipment of the section (such as central barriers, side railings and sidewalks) is evaluated. The study has been applied to the deck section of the Normandy cable-stayed bridge.

  • A bioassay-guided fractionation of the stem bark extract of Eucommia ulmoides Oliver (Eucommiaceae) led to the isolation of three iridoid constituents, genipin (1), geniposide (3), geniposidic acid (4) as well as (${\pm}$)-guaiacylglycerol (2) and fatty acid mixtures as active ingredients of the extract responsible for the antitumoral property. The EtOAc soluble part and BuOH soluble part of the extract demonstrated a significant inhibition on the proliferation of cultured human tumor cells such as A549 (non small cell lung), SK-OV-3 (ovary), SK-MEL-2 (melanoma), XF498 (central nerve system) and HCT-15 (colon) in vitro, whereas the remaining water soluble part exhibited a poor inhibition. • A bioassay-guided fractionation of the whole extract of Viscum album (a parasitic plant : Loranthaceae) led to the isolation of two triterpenoidal components, oleanolic acid (1), ${\beta}$-amyrin acetate (2), homoflavoyadorinin B (3) as well as large quantity of free fatty acid mixtures as active ingredients of the extract responsible for the antitumoral property. • Car manufacturers and part manufacturers each have their own criteria with regard to strength, stiffness and NVH performance levels. Part manufacturers typically investigate such performances according to the part unit. To do this, the part manufacturer receives information from the relevant car maker. However, the information provided by the car maker is limited, making it difficult to develop a part which meets all of the design requirements specified by the car unit overall. To overcome this difficulty, the utilization of a VPG system is recommended for the designer. In this study, the durability performance of an optimized control arm as suggested in a previous study was investigated using the ETA-VPG, LS-dyna and FE/safe software packages. ETA-VPG provides several types of suspension and steering parts. In this study, a complete car is created using the library included in ETA-VPG, with the exception of the control arm. We also conducted a virtual proving ground analysis to predict the life cycle of the control arm.

  • In this paper, a mobile robot system which have trajectory of metal tape- type is designed and manufactured. The mobile robot for manless-transportation consists of sensor-part with ultrasonic and infrared sensor, motor-part with motor and encoder, user interface-part, central control-part and computer interface-part. The ultrasonic sensor detects obstacles which can appear during the mobile robot is move. The infrared sensor has ability which detect the metal tape trajectory and then lead the robot to a correct position. By using the mobile robot, the flexiblity of a moving trajectory is improved and cost which can happen in using a mobile robot system having trajectory is cut as well.
