Hydration and physical characteristics of chemically-bonded phosphate ceramic (CBPC) binder based on dead-burned Mg-O with six different blends are investigated for efficient repair construction material by retarding set phase with $H_3BO_3$. The test specimen of the blender with silica fume shows higher compressive strength after 75 days. The CBPC with silica fume results in higher modulus of rupture that others. The test specimens of CBPC eludes lower calcium ion than that of OPC (Ordinay Portland Cement). The X-ray diffraction pattern shows that hydration results in the formation of magnesium hydroxide, M-S-H gel and $MgCO_3$ for the specimen with silica fumes. Combination with calcium for MgO is not desirable due to no formation of chemical bond between two components. Based on the experimental program, the mixture of MgO and silica fume shows efficient performance in strength and durability.
Climate anomalies in recent years, numerous natural disasters caused by landslides and a large amount of entrained sands and stones in Taiwan have created significant disasters and greater difficulties in subsequent reconstruction. How to respond to these problems efficaciously is an important issue. In this study, the sands and stones were doped with recycled materials (waste LCD glass sand, slag powder), and material was mixed for recycled ready-mixed soil. The study is based on security and economic principles, using flowability test to determine the water-binder ratio (W/B=2.4, 2.6, and 2.8), a fixed soil: sand ratio of 6:4 and a soil: sand: glass ratio of 6:2:2 as fine aggregate. Slag (at concentrations of 0%, 20%, and 40%) replaced the cement. The following tests were conducted: flowability, initial setting time, unit weight, drop-weight and compressive strength. The results show that the slump values are 220 -290 mm, the slump flow values are 460 -1030 mm, and the tube flow values are 240-590 mm, all conforming to the objectives of the design. The initial setting times are 945-1695 min. The unit weight deviations are 0.1-0.6%. The three groups of mixtures conform to the specification, being below 7.6 cm in the drop-weight test. In the compressive strength test, the water-binder ratios for 2.4 are optimal ($13.78-17.84kgf/cm^2$). The results show that Recycled ready-mixed soil materials (RRMSM) possesses excellent flowability. The other properties, applied to backfill engineering, can effectively save costs and are conducive to environmental protection.
The objective of this study was to derive a cementitious material for three-dimensional (3D) concrete printing that fulfills key performance functions, extrudability, buildability and bondability for 3D concrete printing. For this purpose, the rheological properties shown by different compositions of cement paste, the most fundamental component of concrete, were assessed, and the correlation between the rheological properties and key performance functions was analyzed. The results of the experiments indicated that the overall properties of a binder have a greater influence on the yield stress than the plastic viscosity. When the performance of a cementitious material for 3D printing was considered in relation with the properties of a binder, a mixture with FA or SF was thought to be more appropriate; however, a mixture containing GGBS was found to be inappropriate as it failed to meet the required function especially, buildability and extrudability. For a simple quantitative evaluation, the correlation between the rheological parameters of cementitious materials and simplified flow performance test results-time taken to reach T-150 and the number of hits required to reach T-150-in consideration of the flow of cementitious materials was compared. The result of the analysis showed a high reliability for the correlation between the rheological parameters and the time taken to reach T-150, but a low reliability for the number of hits needed for the fluid to reach T-150. In conclusion, among several performance functions, extrudability and buildability were mainly assessed based on the results obtained from various formulations from a rheological perspective, and the suitable formulations of composite materials for 3D printing was derived.

Experimental study on the durability characteristics to examine the feasibility of concrete with high water-tightness and self-healing performance to minimize maintenance of concrete for artificial ground is as follows. 1) When blending agent, swelling agents, and curing accelerator were added on the ternary system cement with blast-furnace slag fine particles and fly ash to give a self-healing property, higher blending strengths by 82% at design standard strength of 24MPa and by 74% at design strength of 30MPa, respectively could be obtained. 2) The permeability test for the specimens having high water-tightness and no shrinkage showed that the permeability was reduced at maximum of 98%. However, the permeability was decreased as the design strength was increased, showing the reduction rate of 87% at the design strength of 50MPa. 3) The depth of carbonation of blast-furnace slag and fly ash was increased in all the specimens compared with those of OPC only. However, as the material age was increased, carbonation penetration depth was decreased compared with the reference blend. 4) Compared with the reference blending using only OPC, the freeze-thaw resistance was higher in the case of blending with 40% of blast-furnace slag and 10% of fly ash at the design standard strength of 50MPa. In addition, the freeze-thaw resistance in general was superior in the design standard strength of 50MPa with the lower water-binder ratio (W/B) as compared with the design standard strength of 24MPa and 30MPa with the high water-binder ratios.

Deterioration in durability of structures due to the steel corrosion is difficult to determine whether or not corrosion is initiated and how much propagated, and moreover, repair and maintenance are not easy to deal with. Therefore, preventive treatments can be the best option to avoid the deterioration. Various methods for preventing corrosion of steel, such as electrochemical treatments, anti-corrosion agents and steel surface coatings, are being developed, but economic and environmental aspects make it difficult to apply them to in-situ field. Thus, the purpose of this study was to improve corrosion resistance by using CA-based clinker that are relatively simple and expected to be economically profitable Existing CA-based clinkers had problems such as flash setting and low strength development during the initial hydration process, but in order to solve this problem, CA clinker with low initial reactivity were used as binder in this study. The cement paste used in the experiments was replaced with CA2 clinker for 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% in OPC. And the mixture used in the chloride binding test for the extraction of water-soluble chloride was intermixed with Cl- 0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 3% by weight of binder content. To evaluate characteristic of hydration heat evolution, calorimetry analysis was performed and simultaneously chloride binding capacity and acid neutralization capacity were carried out. The identification of hydration products with curing ages was verified by X-ray diffraction analysis. The free chloride extraction test showed that the chlorine ion holding ability improved in order OC 10 > OC 30 > OC 20 > OC 0 and the pH drop resistance test showed that the resistance capability in pH 12 was OC 0 > OA 10 > OA 20 > OA 30. The XRD analyses showed that AFm phase, which can affect the ability to hold chlorine ions, tended to increase when CA2 was mixed, and that in pH12 the content of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), which indicates pH-low resistance, decreased as CA2 was mixed
Geopolymer, also known as alkali aluminum silicate, is used as a substitute for Portland cement, and it is also used as a binder because of its good adhesive properties and heat resistance. Since Davidovits developed Geopolymer matrix composites (GMCs) based on the binder properties of geopolymer, they have been utilized as flame exhaust ducts and aircraft fire protection materials. Geopolymer structures are formed through hydrolysis and dehydration reactions, and their physical properties can be influenced by reaction conditions such as concentration, reaction time, and temperature. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of silica size and aging time on the mechanical properties of composites. Commercial water glass and kaolin were used to synthesize geopolymers, and two types of silica powder were added to increase the silicon content. Using carbon fiber mats, a fiber-reinforced composite material was fabricated using the hand lay-up method. Spectroscopy was used to confirm polymerization, aging effects, and heat treatment, and composite materials were used to measure flexural strength. As a result, it was confirmed that the longer time aging and use of nano-sized silica particles were helpful in improving the mechanical properties of the geopolymer matrix composite.

Post-tensioned concrete pavement(PTCP) was developed to built long-span concrete pavement(120 m span) and to maintain long-term service life(over 40 years) of concrete pavement. In the present study, research for high-durable concrete was conducted to utilize the advantage of PTCP construction method efficiently. First of all, 20% of fly ash(by binder weight) was replaced to control alkali silica reaction. Second, silica fume was applied to improve the water-permeability and early-age strength. Results of tests for mechanical properties, water-permeability resistance, and surface-scaling resistance of ternary blended cement concrete showed that the early-age strength was improved significantly with addition of silica fume. The water-permeability resistance was improved from "Low" to "Very Low"(ASTM C 1202). However, surface-scaling resistance was decreased with an increase of silica fume, therefore, content of silica fume should be kept in less than 5%(by binder weight) to assure field application considering durability. The results of air-void analysis showed that durability factors were improved since spacing factors were estimated as 250$\pm$15 micron in adjusted mixtures.
Recent construction activity of infrastructures has been booming and accelerating to incur
shortage of river sand for concrete works. Thus, sea sand has been excessively used instead of
river sa.nd, that directly causes to decrease the quality and the durability of concrete, and then
might lead to the collapse of concrete structures.
The purpose of this experimental research is not only to develop high-strength concrete using
sea sand, but also to investigate mechanical properties of high-strength concrete, such as elastic
moduli, compressive strength and etc, which could be used for important design data of concrete
structures.
Rational analytic formula for elastic moduli have been proposed together with those for the
splitting tensile strength and the flexural strength, which are to be predicted from compressive
strength of concrete cylinder.
Optimum water-cement and water-binder ratio have been experimentally obtained so as to develop
high compressive strength with and without using silica fume as a admixture for concrete.
It is noted that experimental elastic moduli for high strength concrete above aCk=330kgf /cm2
are less than those by the Code. Appropriate amount of concrete mixture has been experimentally
investigated so as to develop maximum compressive, flexural and splitting tensile strength.
This research is the result of investigating engineering characteristics of slime generated during construction of deep mixing method. Mechanical characteristics of slime have been studied through literature review and laboratory tests of unconfined compression test, permeability test and settling tests were performed. As result of field observation of slime being generated, slime started to be produced right after flight auger was penetrated into a ground and its amount was increased in progress. Unconfined compressive strength of specimen with slime obtained from in field was measured in the range of $929.7{\sim}3,509.8kN/m^2$ and the value of unconfined compressive strength was found to be changed significantly with mixing ratio of soil, cement and binder. Permeability of them was measured in the range of $4.53{\times}10^{-7}{\sim}6.62{\times}10^{-6}cm/sec$ so that the mixture was appropriate as a impervious barrier. It was also know that the value of permeability was changed with the mixing ratio of binder. As test results of solidifying slime specimen prepared in the laboratory, good quality of cement mixture with coarse soil of sand were produced, compared with fine soils of silt and clay.
Purpose: This study aims to enhance the resistance against sulfate attack compared to ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete by using liquid crystal display (LCD) as binder. Method: The fundamental properties including compressive strength and porosity of concrete replaced by LCD up to 15% at increments of 5% and in turn, the weight, volume, and strength loss of LCD-mixed concrete was analyzed. Results: For the concrete substituted by 5% of LCD, it showed the highest compressive strength at 28 days of curing, and particular at immersion of $Na_2SO_4$ solution, it was achieved the lowest loss of weight, volume and strength due to an decreased porosity at capillaries. In contrast, there is no distinct difference of the sulfate attack resistance between LCD-mixed concretes under exposure of $MgSO_4$ solution, excepted for OPC concrete. Conclusion: In this study, comparison of resistance to sulfate attack between LCD-mixed concretes, and it would be proposed the possibility of LCD usage as binder through long-term verification with extended replacement ratio and identification of changes of hydrates in the cement matrix.
