Cement is an essential material for social infrastructure. Cement production process for cement itself is energy-intensive and requires a large amount of natural resources for fuel and raw materials. This study is to development of recycled cement from waste concrete powder in manufacturing process of recycled aggregate concrete. Recycled cement is low carbon and green growth materials concept for eco friendly construction environment. From the test results, waste concrete powder is same chemical proportion regardless of manufacturing process of recycled aggregate concrete.

Serious problems of the environment protection and resource exhaustion are exhibited. due to the increase of the construction materials and activation of the remodeling, recently. Especially, most of the advanced countries. recycling plan for the waste concrete is vigorously progressing. The purpose of this study is making advances in the recycling of waste concrete material for use as recycled aggregate to make secondary concrete product. Using recycled aggregates form demolished concrete, we manufactured cement bricks to experiment overall performance in Korean Standard and feasible performances. On the recycled cement, in the case of cement : aggregate is 1 : 7 is satisfied with KS F 4004 : dimensions, water absorption, compressive strength of quality of a standard. So we concluded that it has great feasibility to apply these products to construction industry.

This study is aimed at comparing the effect of cement mortar made of sulfuric acid treated ISO standard sand with that of cement mortar made of normal ISO standard sand. In the water absorption test, water absorption of standard sand increases with the increase of immersion time in sulfuric acid solution. The results show that at the water cement ratio of 0.5, the longer the standard sand is immersed in sulfuric acid, the greater the compressive strength of the cement mortar sample.

Recently, a stone is preferred as a cladding materials because of its outstanding durability and luxurious character. However, because of running out of natural resources and restriction of production, it is expected that difficulty of stable supply, and thus alternative cladding materials for concrete wall is needed. Therefore, in this research, as an alternative cladding materials, exposed-aggregate concrete is studied using saccharin based retarder. For evaluating factors, changing water-to-cement ratio, dosages of saccharin-based retarder, and timing of water jet washing were tested on the surface properties of exposed-aggregate concrete. As a result, the most favorable surface performance was obtained at 0.75 day after the placing in 25% of water-to-cement ratio, and at one day after the placing in 35 and 55% of water-to-cement ratio, 1.5 day after the placing in 65% of water-to-cement ratio with $24m{\ell}/m^2$ of retarder application.

The purpose of this study is investigating characteristics of the concrete containing Fly-ash according to different 4 mix design, that is, the first mix design is partial replace Fly-ash of cement, second is partial replace Fly-ash of cement and fine aggregate, third is partial replace Fly-ash of fine aggregate, fourth partial replacement of fine and coarse aggregate. For this purpose, selected test variables were water-binder ratio with two levels of 45%, 50%, and Fly-ash contents with four levels 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, As the result of this study are as follow. 1) The result of mix design of a partial replacement of cement, the slump-flow value was appeared a promotive effect of viscosity. But in case of the over with Fly-ash 10% and the other mix design was not changed slump value. 2) The unit weight of the mixing rate with Fly-ash 0% was $1.875{\sim}1.884t/m^3$, the other mix design 10% over with Fly-ash was $1.846{\sim}1.615t/m^3$, the difference was appeared less about 15% than that. 3) In design, partial replace Fly-ash of fine aggregate, this compressive strength was appeared that the concrete age after 7 days was higher than in partial replacement of cement, therefore, the default of a concrete with Fly-ash, that is the earlier compressive strength was to lessen, was improved. 4) The thermal conductivity of the all mix design was $0.447{\sim}1.144kcal/mh^{\circ}C$, this value was as good as a lightweight aggregate concrete.

In general, high strength and high performance fiber reinforced cement composites exclude coarse aggregates basically in order to have homogeneous distributions of material properties. However, these fiber-reinforced cement mortar without coarse aggregate have a tenancy that the modulus of elasticity is low and the unit weight of cement is high, resulting in low economic efficiency. Therefore, in this study, the development of high ductile fiber - reinforced concrete was conducted, which has the adequate level of coarse aggregate but still retains the high flexural toughness and strength and also has the crack - distributing performance. Experimental study was carried out by using the amount of coarse aggregate as an experimental parameter. The results showed that the best flexural toughness and crack dispersion characteristics was obtained when the coarse aggregate was added at 25% by weight of the fine aggregate to the typical mixtures of high ductile cement mortar. PVA fiber was effective in crack distribution and ductility enhancement, and steel fiber was effective in strengthening flexural strength rather than crack distribution.
The present investigation is to identify an optimum mix combination amongst 28 different types of artificial lightweight aggregates by pelletization method with aggregate properties. Artificial aggregates with different combinations were manufactured from fly ash, cement, hydrated lime, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), silica fume, metakaolin, sodium bentonite and calcium bentonite, at a standard 17 minutes pelletization time, with 28% of water content on a weight basis. Further, the artificial aggregates were air-dried for 24 hours, followed by hardening through the cold-bonding (water curing) process for 28 days and then testing with different physical and mechanical properties. The results found the lowest impact strength value of 16.5% with a cement-hydrated lime (FCH) mix combination. Moreover, the lowest water absorption of 16.5% and highest individual pellet crushing strength of 36.7 MPa for 12 mm aggregate with a hydrated lime-GGBFS (FHG) mix combination. The results, attained from different binder materials, could be helpful for manufacturing high strength artificial aggregates.

The purpose of this study is to examine the physical properties of water-permeable concretes. The water-permeable concrete with cement-aggregate ratios of 1:3.5 to 1:6.0 and two type of coarse aggregate size of 8~13 and 13~18mm used OPC(ordinary portland cement) as a binder and superplasticizer are prepared, and then tested for flexural strength, compressive strength, compressive strength, continuous void percentage and coefficient of water permeability. It is concluded from the test result that the superior flexural and compressive strengths, coefficient of water permeability and continuous void percentage of water-permeable concretes that use OPC were obtained at cement-aggregate ratios of 1:3.2, 1:6.0 respectively, The water-permeable concretes with coarse aggregate of 8~13 and 13~18mm size used OPC as a binder havinga flexural strength of 24.81~45.56kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 21.99~40.62kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, a compressive stength of 93.63~ 242kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 114.8~191.7.kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, a coefficient of permeability of 0.59~1.85kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 0.73~ 2.25kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, and a continuos void percentage of 16.6~26.32%, 13.52~24.35% respectively during 28 curing days.

This study tested 25 lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) mixtures using the expanded bottom ash and dredged soil granules to examine the compressive strength gain of such concrete with different ages. The test parameters investigated were water-to-cement ratios and the natural sand content for the replacement of lightweight fine aggregate. The compressive strength gain rate in the basic equation specified in fib model code was experimentally determined in each mixture and then empirically formulated as a function of the water-to-cement ratio and oven-dried density of concrete. When compared with 28-day compressive strength, the tested LWAC mixtures exhibited relatively low gain ratios (0.49~0.82) at an age of 3 days whereas the gain ratios (1.16~1.41) at 91 days were higher than that (1.05~1.15) of the conventional normal-weight concrete. Thus, the fib model equations tend to overestimate the early strength gain of LWAC but underestimate the long-term strength gain. The proposed equations are in good agreement with the measured compressive strength development of LWAC at different ages, indicating that the mean and standard deviation of the normalized root mean square errors determined in each mixture are 0.101 and 0.053, respectively.

The three factors that determine the strength of concrete are the strength of cement paste, aggregate and ITZ(Interfacial Transition Zone) between aggregate and cement paste. Out of these, the strength of ITZ is the most vulnerable. ITZ is formed in 10~50㎛, the ratio of calcium hydroxide is high, and CSH appears low ratio. A high calcium hydroxide ratio causes a decrease in the bond strength of ITZ. ITZ is due to further weak area. The problem of ITZ appears as a more disadvantageous factor when it used lightweight aggregate. The previous study of ITZ properties have measured interfacial toughness, identified influencing factors ITZ, and it progressed SEM and XRD analysis on cement matrix without using coarse aggregates. also it was identified microstructure using EMPA-BSE equipment. However, in previous studies, it is difficult to understand the microstructure and mechanical properties. Therefore, in this study, a method of measuring electrical resistance using EIS(Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) measuring equipment was adopted to identify the ITZ between natural aggregate and lightweight aggregate, and it was tested the change of ITZ by surface coating of lightweight aggregate with ground granulated blast furnace slag. As a result, the compressive strength of natural aggregate and lightweight aggregate appear high strength of natural aggregate with high density, surface coating lightweight aggregate appear strength higher than natural aggregate. The electrical resistivity of ITZ according to the aggregate appeared difference.
