The cation-exchange membrane which was sulfonated styrene-ethylene/buthlene-styrene(SEBS) block copolymer containing the high impact polystyrene (HIPS) was prepared via post-sulfonation and casting method using the epoxidized polybutadiene and divinylbenzene as crosslinking agents. Post-sulfonation was carried out with sulfuric acid as sulfonating agent and silver sulfate as initiator in the nitrogen atmosphere. The basic properties of membranes, degree of sulfonation (DS), water uptake, ion-exchange capacity (IEC), electrical resistance, and modulus have been examined. DS of membrane increased with increasing the sulfonation time. The maximum DS of membrane containing 10 wt% HIPS was 83.6 %. The water uptake and IEC of membranes gradually increased as increasing the DS. The maximum water uptake and IEC of membranes were 43.8 % and 1.14 meq/g, respectively. The lowest electrical resistance of membrane containing the 20 wt% HIPS was $83\;\Omega{\cdot}cm^2$. The electrical conductivity of membrane containing 10 wt% HIPS was $1.22\times10^{-4}S/cm$. The modulus of membrane increased with increasing DS and these values were 153 and $204\;kgf/cm^2$ before and after sulfonation, respectively.

A common procedure of restoration of endodonticlly treated tooth with fiber-reinforced post is followed by core build-up after post cementation. However, this technique is complex and time-consuming. The aim of this study was to compare fracture strength of premolar, restored with various methods of core fabrications on fiber-reinforced posts and casting metal restoration. Forty five freshly extracted human mandibular premolars were obtained and devided into 5 groups acconding to the type of post and methods of core build-up. In Group A, D.T. $Light-post^{(R)}$ were cemented with $DUO-LINK^{TM}$ and then $LIGHT-CORE^{TM}$ was used for core restoration. In Group B, D.T. $Light-post^{(R)}$ and $DUO-LINK^{TM}$ were used for cementing in the postspace, and $DUO-LINK^{TM}$ was used again for core restoration. In Group C, $Light-post^{(R)}$ bonding and the core build-up were performed simultaneously by using $DUO-LINK^{TM}$. In Group D, $LuxaPost^{(R)}$ was bonded by using $LuxaCore^{(R)}-Dual$. Again, $LuxaCore^{(R)}-Dual$ was used for core restoration. In Group E, $LuxaPost^{(R)}$ bonding and the core build-up were performed simultaneously by using $LuxaCore^{(R)}-Dual$. Axial reduction was formed parallelly as possible and 45 degree bevel was made at buccal occlusal surface. Crowns were fabricated and cemented. Each tooth was embedded in self-curing acrylic resin to the level of 2mm below the CEJ. Specimens were fixed on universal testing machin such that the axis of the tooth was at 45 degree inclination to the horizontal plane, and compressive force was applied at a crosshead speed of 1mm/min until failure occurred. The mean fracture strength was the highest in group A followed by descending order in group B, D, E and C. However, there were no statistically significant differences between groups with regard to the fracture strength. The type of the post or build-up methods of the core does not seem to influence the fracture strength.
The magnesium is one of the important alloying elements in the conventional aluminum alloys. The addition of magnesium to aluminum is well known to increase the mechanical strength of the aluminum without the trade-off of the decreased elongation. However, the content of magnesium in aluminum alloys has been limited to be lower than about 5wt.% because of the high oxidation tendency of magnesium element during the manufacturing processes such as casting, hot-forming and post heat-treatments, which can deteriorate the quality and properties of the final products. In this study, new 'ECO-Almag6~9' (containing 6~9wt%Mg) alloys were investigated to be made of the ECO-Mg master alloy, which has been invented to reduce the oxidation tendency of itself. It was successfully demonstrated that ECO-Almag6~9 alloys can be fabricated through the mass-production facilities of DC casting and extrusion routes without the problems of magnesium oxidation. In addition, it was confirmed that the strength and ductility were simultaneously improved due to the addition of high magnesium contents.
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to compare the accuracy of four different metal copings fabricated by CAD/CAM technology and to evaluate clinical effectiveness. Materials and methods: Composite resin tooth of the maxillary central incisor was prepared for a metal ceramic crown and duplicated metal die was fabricated. Then scan the metal die for 12 times to obtain STL files using a confocal microscopy type oral scanner. Metal copings with a thickness of 0.5 mm and a cement space of $50{\mu}m$ were designed on a CAD program. The Co-Cr metal copings were fabricated by the following four methods: Wax pattern milling & Casting (WM), Resin pattern 3D Printing & casting (RP), Milling & Sintering (MS), Selective laser melting (SLM). Silicone replica technique was used to measure marginal and internal discrepancies. The data was statistically analyzed with One-way analysis of variance and appropriate post hoc test (Scheffe test) (${\alpha}=.05$). Results: Mean marginal discrepancy was significantly smaller in the Group WM ($27.66{\pm}9.85{\mu}m$) and Group MS ($28.88{\pm}10.13{\mu}m$) than in the Group RP ($38.09{\pm}11.14{\mu}m$). Mean cervical discrepancy was significantly smaller in the Group MS than in the Group RP. Mean axial discrepancy was significantly smaller in the Group WM and Group MS then in the Group RP and Group SLM. Mean incisal discrepancies was significantly smaller in the Group RP than in all other groups. Conclusion: The marginal and axial discrepancies of the Co-Cr coping fabricated by the Wax pattern milling and Milling/Sintering method were better than those of the other groups. The marginal, cervical and axial fit of Co-Cr copings in all groups are within a clinically acceptable range.

Nowadays, 3 dimentional (3D) printing, especially Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) system is used in dentistry. DMLS system has recently been introduced for fabrication metal framework for metal ceramic crowns to overcome the disadvantages of the casting method and computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) milling system. DMLS system uses a high-temperature laser beam to selectively heat a substructure metal powder based on the CAD data with the framework design. A thin layer of the beamed area becomes fused, and the metal framework is completed by laminating these thin layers. Utilizing DMLS system to fabricate fixed prostheses is expected to achieve free-from shaping without mold and limitations from cutting tools, fabricate prostheses with complex geometry, prevent distortion and fabrication defects that inherent to conventional fabrication methods. The purpose of this case report is to demonstrate various fixed prostheses such as long span fixed prostheses, post to achieve satisfactory results in functional and esthetic aspects.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the distribution of stress in the root end resected teeth. The finite element method was used to compare stresses along the root and retrograde filling material in seven two-dimensional models of mandibular 2nd premolar. Each model was endodontic treatment and gold crown' restoration. Each model divided with amagam core restoration or gold casting post restoration. Thus each model divided with shape of root end resection, depth of retropreparation and exposure length of root in the bony cavity. The seven models were classified as in the table 1 below. A load of 500N was applied $45^{\circ}$ diagonally on the lingual slope of the buccal cusp. These mode were analyzed with two dimensional finite element methods. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The maximum tensile stress along the inner canal wall was shown on the model 7. 2. When the model 1 was compared with the model 5, the maximum tensile stress along the inner canal wall showed the model 1. 3. Less equivalent stress was shown on the model 6 and more equivalent stress was shown on the model 4. 4. More shear stress was shown on the retrograde filling material of the model 7. 5. The models with increased length of exposed root in the bony cavity demonstrated a gradual increase to the tensile stress in X direction which occurred approximately a boundary between the bone and exposed root in' the bony cavity. 6. The model which had a case of matching the apex of post and a boundary between the bone and exposed root in the bony cavity demonstrated more increase tensile stress in X direction than other models.

Post-earthquake observations revealed that seismic performance of beam-column connections in precast concrete structures affect the overall response extensively. Seismic design of precast reinforced concrete structures requires improved beam-column connections to transfer reversed load effects between structural elements. In Turkey, hybrid beam-column connections with welded components have been applied extensively in precast concrete industry for decades. Beam bottom longitudinal rebars are welded to beam end plates while top longitudinal rebars are placed to designated gaps in joint panels before casting of topping concrete in this type of connections. The paper presents the major findings of an experimental test programme including one monolithic and five precast hybrid half scale specimens representing interior beam-column connections of a moment frame of high ductility level. The required welding area between beam bottom longitudinal rebars and beam-end plates were calculated based on welding coefficients considered as a test parameter. It is observed that the maximum strain developed in the beam bottom flexural reinforcement plays an important role in the overall behavior of the connections. Two additional specimens which include unbonded lengths on the longitudinal rebars to reduce that strain demands were also tested. Strength, stiffness and energy dissipation characteristics of test specimens were investigated with respect to test variables. Seismic performances of test specimens were evaluated by obtaining damage indices.
Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) has been originally developed in Japan to offset a growing shortage of skilled labors, is a highly workable concrete, which is not needed to any vibration or impact during casting. The utilizing of fibers in SCC improves the mechanical properties and durability of hardened concrete such as impact strength, flexural strength, and vulnerability to cracking. The purpose of this investigation is to determine the effect of steel fibers on mechanical performance of traditionally reinforced Self-Competing Concrete beams. In this study, two mixes Mix 1% and Mix 2% containing 1% and 2% volume friction of superplasticizer are considered. For each type of mixture, four different volume percentages of 60/30 (length/diameter) fibers of 0.0%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2% were used. The mechanical properties were determined through compressive and flexural tests. According to the experimental test results, an increase in the steel fibers volume fraction in Mix 1% and Mix 2% improves compressive strength slightly but decreases the workability and other rheological properties of SCC. On the other hand, results revealed that flexural strength, energy absorption capacity and toughness are increased by increasing the steel fiber volume fraction. The results clearly show that the use of fibers improves the post-cracking behavior. The average spacing of between cracks decrease by increasing the fiber volume fraction. Furthermore, fibers increase the tensile strength by bridging actions through the cracks. Therefore, steel fibers increase the ductility and energy absorption capacity of RC elements subjected to flexure.
The CM247LC, a Ni-based superalloy material used for gas turbine hot gas path parts, is casted using directionally solidified technology to analyze the mechanical properties and microstructures through HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) and post-heat treatment, and to derive optimal HIP treatment conditions. The CM247LC material is being researched in various ways as an alternative material for prototyping gas turbine blades. In particular, the blade rotating part is exposed and operated in a high temperature and high-pressure environment, and when damaged, it may cause huge economic losses. Therefore, in order to use the CM247LC material as prototyping materials for gas turbine blades, the reliability of the microstructure and mechanical properties must be verified. In this study, after casting rod test specimens using CM247LC material by directionally solidified technology, after that the specimens were performed by HIP treatment and post-heat treatment to test two HIP conditions designed by KEPCO to derive the possibility of prototyping of CM247LC material and optimization of HIP treatment conditions. Additionally, the properties of CM247LC material were compared to the GTD111DS material using for 1,300℃ class gas turbine blades.
In order to predict the post-cracking tensile behavior of fiber reinforced concrete, it is necessary to evaluate the fiber orientation factor which indicates the number of fibers bridging a crack. For investigation of fiber orientation factor on a circular cross-section, in this paper, cylindrical steel fiber reinforced concrete specimens were casted with the variables of concrete compressive strength, circular cross-section size, fiber type, and fiber volumetric ratio. The specimens were cut perpendicularly to the casting direction so that the fiber orientation factor could be evaluated through counting the number of fibers on the circular cross-section. From the test results, it was investigated that the fiber orientation factor on a circular cross-section was lower than 0.5 generally adopted, as fibers tended to be perpendicular to the casting direction. In addition, it was observed that the fiber orientation factor decreased with an increase of the number of fibers per unit cross-section area. For rational prediction of the fiber orientation factor on a circular section, a rigorous model and a simplified equation were derived through taking account of a possible fiber inclination angle considering the circular boundary surface. From the comparison of the measured data and the predicted values, it was found that the fiber orientation factor was well predicted by the proposed model. The test results and the proposed model can be useful for researches on structural behavior of steel fiber reinforced columns with a circular cross-section.
