The Effect of the Reading Discussion-oriented Career Exploration Program on Elementary School Students' Career Development and Achievement Motivation Improvement (독서토론 진로탐색 프로그램이 초등학생의 진로발달과 성취동기에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of study is to examine the effects of the reading discussion-oriented career exploration program for elementary school students on career development and achievement motivation. To achieve this purpose, three fifth grade classes were assigned to an experimental group, comparative group A and comparative group B. Reading discussion-oriented exploration program for the experimental group was conducted for five weeks in ten sessions, the same period of time for comparative group A was given for conducting a career education program and subject studying was conducted on comparative group B. The results of this study, the experimental group applied to the reading discussion-oriented career exploration programs showed a significant increase in their career development compared with the subject studying group. But they did not show a significant increase compared with the career education group. Second, experimental group applied to the reading discussion-oriented career exploration programs showed significant increase their achievement motivation compared with the subject studying group and career education group.

  • This study is aimed at analyzing the achievement criteria of cross-curricular Learning themes that can be linked to curriculums, and developing and applying the career reading programs focusing on the school library. For these purposes, first, a class model was designed in connection with reading education programs through cross-curricular Learning themes of 2015 revised curriculum. Second, the career reading classes in the areas of self-understanding, career exploration and career design have been held through a career reading class model for 137 middle school students in 5 classes for one semester. Third, the data to evaluate the career reading for the analysis of the study was constructed, and the qualitative study was conducted through of anecdotal records, multilateral observation on checklists and the analysis of action research. Lastly but not least, the materials regarding the list of books focusing on the career reading storytelling and the career mentor in a type of interests were presented, and the career reading education activities at the school field were suggested.

  • This study aimed to construct a career exploration reading program based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and measure its effects on students' career consciousness development. The study involved 12 participants in the experimental group and 12 participants in the control group, who underwent pre-test and post-test evaluations. After conducting 12 sessions of the career exploration reading program with the experimental group, a career development assessment was administered. The experimental group showed statistically significant effects in all nine sub-domains of career development compared to the control group. Additionally, the experimental group reported increased satisfaction, positive perception, and a sense of accomplishment in career exploration activities, leading to a positive impact on the formation of future career concepts.

  • The government introduced a free semester in 2013, current targets middle school education as a core policy for nurturing creative talent, the year 2016 has been carried out in front of all middle school. This purpose of this study was to develop and spread the library-based reading culture program model for free semester. In this study, for which students, teachers, parents, conducted a survey of the reading culture program requirements librarian. A library-based reading program of free cultural self-semester course four areas according to the configuration (career exploration activities, group activities, arts and sports activities, theme activities select) was developed.

  • This study identified problems in reading for future careers and suggests approaches to solve the identified problems by analyzing the fundamental vocational competence and reading for a future career. The study included 457 students in the liberal arts college (humanities and education programs) at "A" university. In accordance with the analysis, communication ability (average 3.61), interpersonal relation ability (3.59), literacy (3.40) and problem solving ability (3.39) were relatively high in fundamental vocational competence, while numeracy (2.72) and entrepreneurship (2.89) were low. Next, 65.2% of those reported no reading for their future career. 46.3% answered 'no time to read books related to my future career.' 25.8% selected 'no books worth reading related to my future career.' 22.5% said 'no curiosity about my future career.' Considering that those who did not read any materials related to a future career reached 65.2% and a number of students had low fundamental vocational competence, this paper suggested the implementation of a systematic educational program for standardizing and strengthening fundamental vocational competence and enhancing understanding of future careers.

The Effects of Career Exploration Journal Writing with Reading on Career Maturity of High School Girls (독서기반 진로 탐색 보고서 쓰기가 여고생의 진로 성숙도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the significant change in the career maturity of high school female students influenced by career exploration report writing program based on reading activities. This program was operated for a total of six weeks, and it took 100 minutes for two sessions per week with 23 high school female students. According to pre-post test comparative analysis, 5 out of 8 sub-factors of career maturity showed significant change. The 5 Factors are planning, self understanding, information search and career exploration and preparation actions. Above all the factor of knowledge on desired job especially showed a very considerable effect. But 3 factors such as attitude for occupation, independence and rational decision making did not show a significant result. Based on these, authors proposed some improvement plans of the career exploration report writing program.

  • This study would investigate how reading psychology coaching could affect to male & female youth who lived in youth shelter. The main target of this study is self-growth. The progression of program had held from 17nd July 2016 to 17nd October 2016 and each program has been done for 120 minutes once a week during 12times. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program 'Inferiority Complex Symptom Scales' & 'Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scales' were used. In short, this program process mainly affect on self-growth. Therefore, this program effect expected as a developmental reading psychology coaching for youth shelter dwellers.

A Study on the Management of Blended Learning at School Library: Focusing on Reading Club Program Linked with Free Semester System (학교도서관의 블렌디드 러닝 운영에 관한 연구 - 자유학기제 연계 독서동아리 프로그램을 중심으로 -)

  • This study is aimed at analyzing cases of management focusing on a reading club using the blended learning at school library and the relevant programs of the free semester system. Therefore, the study has designed a research model for the blended-based management of school libraries, and cases of activities of reading clubs at school libraries for participants in programs linked with the free semester system have been analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, the confidence level was satisfied in all areas of stability, consistency, predictability and verification on confidence level for related variables of the research model. Second, a meaningful relation has been verified in the correlation analysis between the blended activities and activities of the career search and the career design. Third, as a meaningful static effect has been shown in the contact-free activities in the areas of activities of the blended learning and activities of the career search and the career design, it was verified that programs linked with reading clubs of the free semester system have higher positive effects in the contact-free activities. Last but not least, programs related to local governments to support reading clubs at school libraries have been presented, and management of the blended learning at school libraries has been suggested.

The Effects of Reading-Based Learning Coaching Program for Middle School Students in County-level City (지방의 군 단위 지역 중학생 대상 독서기반 학습코칭 프로그램의 효과성 검증)

  • The purpose of this research is verifying the effects born by reading-based learning coaching programs on Korean language performance and the psychological variables of middle school students. A reading-based learning coaching program applied alongside a coaching model was developed and presented to first grade middle school students living in a local county-level city. The psychological variables were measured three times: prior to the program, immediately following the end of the program, and one month after the end of the program. Korean language performance was only measured twice: prior to the program and following the end of the program. Results revealed that compared to the control group, the experiment exhibited showed significant improvement in the scores of learning efficacy and self-regulation efficacy after the program. As well, these changes lasted for up to one month after the program. The future time perspective didn't show any significant interaction effects between time and group. The experimental group's performance in terms of Korean language was also significantly improved after completing the program. Based on these results, implications and limitations are discussed.

Design of Reading and Discussion Activities using Recommended Book List: The Case of D University (권장도서목록을 활용한 독서토론활동의 설계 - D대학의 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • For University students, reading is one of the important way of character education and career education that can give students the power to recognize and adapt to changes in society. The university supports the reading activities of university students in various ways, such as opening liberal arts courses related to reading or setting up required credits. In addition, it supports activities such as selecting the recommended book list for university students and providing the list. The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of the current university's recommended book list and methods of using reading, and to propose improvement plans. To this end, using D University as an example, the current status of the recommended book list and reading discussion program were identified, and problems were investigated. In the current recommended book list, the subject area and list did not properly reflect the times, and the information on the provided list was very simple. Also, it was found that there was no suggestion on how to use the recommended book list. Through this, the recommended book list with the addition of bibliographic information and composition of the subject area was proposed. In addition, the reading discussion method was structured using Havruta.
