Purpose - Korean women suffered from serious experience at unfair personnel practice in the work and coexistence between work and home affairs. The study examined woman workers' career plateau perception and success who worked for local public enterprises, that is to say, regional public corporation invested by local government, and investigated mediating effect of dual commitment as well as control effect of self-efficacy from point of view of various access to variables. Research design, data, and methodology - The study investigated women employees of regional public corporation by empirical analysis. The author collected 337 copies from 380 copies and made use of 325 copies after excluding copies with improper answer. SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 were used. Results - The study investigated effect of career plateau (structure and content) upon subjective career success (job satisfaction and career commitment) according to questionnaire material: First, not only structural plateau but also content career plateau had negative influence upon dual commitment (structure and career). Second, dual commitment had positive influence upon subjective career success from point of view of organizational commitment and career commitment. Third, structural career plateau had positive influence upon career success, and content career plateau had positive influence upon job satisfaction. Fourth, structural career plateau did not have significant influence upon job satisfaction, content career plateau and career satisfaction. Fifth, subordinate variables (organizational commitment and career commitment) had mediating influence upon career plateau cognition and subjective career success. Sixth, self efficacy did not control career plateau cognition and subjective career success. Conclusions - Women employee's career plateau cognition mediated dual commitment to have influence upon career success and to be likely to help career success theory study. Career plateau had negative influence upon dual commitment and career success of women workers. The study shall give base of counteraction from point of view of control and motivation of women workers thinking of career plateau.
Objectives: This study examined the professionalism, major satisfaction, self-leadership, and career preparation behavior of dental hygiene students, and examined the factors affecting career preparation behavior. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted among dental hygiene students in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas of Korea, and finally, questionnaires submitted by 190 subjects were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 21.0. Results: The average scores for professionalism, major satisfaction, self-leadership, and career preparation behavior among the evaluated subjects were 3.68±0.56, 3.44±0.46, 3.57±0.55, and 3.24±0.52, respectively. Students who answered that their motivation for career preparation according to general characteristics was "because it is a valuable job" showed the highest score of 3.60±0.54 for professionalism (p<0.01) and higher scores for major satisfaction and career preparation behavior (p<0.001). The factors that affected career preparation behavior were self-leadership (p<0.001), major satisfaction (p<0.01), and professional intuition (p<0.01). Conclusions: The study findings showed that groups with higher self-leadership, major satisfaction, and professionalism exhibited more active career preparation behavior. Therefore, various educational programs are needed to improve dental hygiene (academics) and career preparation behavior of students.
This research examines how influential the certificate is on career development and job satisfaction. The outcome of substantial analysis on hypothesis of the study is: First, three factors-proactiveness, value, competitiveness are the positive effect on motivation for certificate. However, it is shown that the correlation and regulation factors do not have a significant effect on career development. Second, career development has a positive relation with the job satisfaction. Third, value and association among motivation factors for certificate acquisition have a positive effect on job satisfaction. However, it is revealed that proactiveness, competitiveness, and bylaw factors do not have significant influences on job satisfaction. These outcomes prove that private certificates do not meet the need realistically in the business field. It is caused by the low level of difficulty of the certificate exam, which results in the standardization state where it becomes easier for anyone to obtain the certificate. In order to resolve the problem in relation to the private certificate acquisition, it is suggested that advices of field experts should be actively reflected on the exam and that the difficulty of the exam should be moderated to acquire comparability and to reflect reality.
The purpose of this study was to develop a learning motivation program and to test its effect to provide basic data to be used for freshmen who are going to enter nursing college and various educational strategies and policies for successful university life. In order to develop the program, the contents of the program were structured so as to improve the learning ability, self-directed ability, and social competence through the current research and literature review. As a result, motivation (F=3.45 p=.033), core competence (F=7.35 p=.001), time management (F=9.80 p<.001) and career attitude maturity (F=19.83 p<.001) were significantly increased before the program. This suggests that the composition of the learning motivation program includes various learning strategies unlike nursing and majors.
This study explored men's choice of fashion as a college major and, subsequently, a non-traditional career path. Such investigation is important to gain a better understanding of the motives and processes of selecting a non-traditional college major and subsequent career path. This research consulted several theoretical frameworks to guide the development of research questions and help interpret the findings of the study. Specifically, our study builds upon Holland's trait theory (1982), Gottfredson's (1981) circumscription theory, Farmer's (1985) model of career motivation, and Simpson's (2005) typology of men's non-traditional career entry. A qualitative method was used to explore men's experiences of selecting fashion as an academic major in college and deciding to pursue a career in the traditionally female-dominated field. Following the analysis of 22 individual interviews with male upperclassmen majoring in fashion, three topical areas emerged and we proposed a model of male students' path to a non-traditional college major. The model explains male students' dynamics of entering a non-traditional college major, the role of personal and social factors in the decision process as well as the role of future career orientation when choosing to study fashion as an academic major.
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between organizational tenure, structural career plateau, and interpersonal deviant behavior for nurses. Moreover, this study also investigated moderating role of proactivity on the effect of organizational tenure on structural career plateau. Design/methodology/approach - This study utilized 448 nurses working at three different types of hospital. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the multiple regression analysis were conducted to verify the hypotheses. Findings - The results showed that organizational tenure is positively related to structural career plateau and structural career plateau is positively related to interpersonal deviant behavior. However, moderating effect of proactivity is not significant. Research implications or Originality - Nurses are critical to the competitiveness of hospital organizations considering the proportion of manpower and the role of nurses. One of the important factors that decrease the motivation of nurses is structural career plateau. This study analyzed the antecedent and consequence of structural career plateau. In addition, practical implications for resolving the problem of structural career plateau were provided.
This study was the study verifying dental technicians' motivation and job satisfaction in Seoul through the positive method as well as its purposes were to investigated the effect of dental technicians manpower supply/demand prospect on motivation, job satisfaction and the effect of other job satisfaction factors on dental technicians motivation and job satisfaction. For then, general characteristics of study objects were classified by sex, married/unmarried, age, career, salary, highest level of education, working place, position and job as well as job satisfaction factors were classified with future supply/demand prospect, future prospect, working hours, working environment and salary. We conducted a frequency analysis, crossing analysis and multi-linear regression analysis about the effect of the classified articles on motivation and job satisfaction. Also, for verifying the relationship of motivation and job satisfaction, we conducted correlation analysis and its result is as followed. First, it showed that the job related with making orthodontic appliance influenced on motivation, among the age, career and job of the general characteristics, and other jobs between working place and job influenced on job satisfaction. Second, the dark future prospect was showed to influence on motivation and job satisfaction highly so we could grasp that negative opinions are included in that. And low-paying was showed to highly influence on job satisfaction s fall so we could grasp the subjective low-salary standard at the present. But we expected that the manpower supply/demand prospect would influence on motivation and job satisfaction but there was little influence. Third, the correlation between motivation and job satisfaction was showed to be somewhat high, motivation had the standard which is above average and job satisfaction had the standard which is below the average. So with a little improving of job satisfaction, it s possible that motivation can be very high. Therefore, in rapidly changing generation, we think that the dental technicians are actively coping with the reality of low-paying and high-working. But it's implying that anxiety for uncertain future was reflected. Furthermore, because institutional strategies for dental technicians' efficient management are insufficient in relation with policies so it's necessary the policy consideration for solve the job-unsatisfying factors actively.

The purpose of this study was to investigate major selection motivation, major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and career preparation behavior as well as identify influencing factors on the career preparation behavior of nursing students. The data were collected using questionnaires filled out by 208 nursing students in their junior and senior years at two universities in Jeollanam-do and Gyenggi-do, from November 1, 2018 to December 20, 2018. Data ware analyzed by using the SPSS Win 22.0 program (frequency, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis). The mean score of career preparation behavior was 2.74±0.70 (range:1-5). There was a significant positive correlation between major satisfaction, nursing professionalism, and career preparation behavior. For the multiple regression analysis, meaningful variables that significantly influenced career preparation behavior were nursing professionalism and general characteristics (grade, career preparation period). These factors explained 21.5% of the variance. Improvement of the above meaningful variables allowed better career preparation behavior. The results show that among students with weak meaningful variables, improvement of the above meaningful variables can improve job preparing behavior. In order to improve career preparation behavior, a career preparation program should be developed that reflects meaningful variables.
Matching individual career desire and career path is desirable for individual motivation and organizational effectiveness. Some studies reported that major career orientations of MIS personnel are technical and managerial orientation. Furthermore, dual ladder system is based on the same notion above. However, subsequent research conclusions of this issues have been contradictory. Mnwhile, past studies on the work value of MIS personnel are mainly concentrated on the differences between MIS personnel and other occupations. To date, the study on the differences in the values of job factors between major career orientations is rare. The purpose of this study is to find out major career orientation of Korean MIS personnel and the differences of values of job factors between major orientations. The research result is two conclusions. First, major career orientations of Korean MIS personnel are technical and managerial orientation. Second, both group do not have different values about job property related factors, but managerial orientation group gives high values to the some organization related factors such as company policy, responsibility, authority, salary level and opportunity of promotion.
Purpose: This study examined the self-esteem, self-leadership, and career identity of nursing students to identify the influence of self-esteem and self-leadership on career identity. Methods: This study was a descriptive survey of 192 students from six nursing colleges. The descriptive statistics, independent two-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis were used for statistical analyses. Results: The career identity correlated with self-esteem and self-leadership. A positive correlation was observed between self-leadership and self-esteem. The factors influencing career identity were self-esteem, satisfaction with the major, motivation (aptitude and interest), and desired career after graduation (hospital employment). The explanatory power of these variables was 42.3% in total. Conclusion: To develop a strong career identity for nursing students, it is essential to provide various educational programs that can increase self-esteem, improve awareness of the major, help students understand the roles and responsibilities of nurses, and provide opportunities to explore career options.
