Objective: The purpose of the present study was to examine the mediating role of career calling in the relationship between job stress and burnout as well as the association among job stress, career calling, and burnout. Methods: A sample of three-hundred and seven child care teachers in the metropolitan area of Seoul completed questionnaires on job stress, career calling, and burnout. Results: Correlation and regression analyses indicated that lack of directors' leadership and administrative support, work overload, and career calling significantly predicted child care teachers' burnout. Moreover, the association of lack of directors' leadership and administrative support of burnout was mediated by career calling. Conclusion/Implications: The findings suggest that directors' leadership and seamless administrative support need to be emphasized in order to reduce burnout and mitigate work-related stress among child care teachers. The findings also highlight the important role of career calling in reducing burnout among child care teachers and suggest the consideration of career calling as a target in interventions and educational programs.

In this paper, we show the career path of college students from the perspective of positive psychology. Specifically we conducted the study to investigate a role of grit in the relationship between college students' occupational calling and academic achievement and career stress. 151 college students participated in this study and they completed the Korean version of the Calling and Vocational Questionnaire, Grit Scale, and Career Stress Scale. To assess their academic achievement, participants agreed to obtain their GPA from online system. The results of this study showed that occupational calling had a positive correlation with academic achievement and negatively correlated with career stress. In addition, it was confirmed that grit mediated the relationship between calling and academic achievement and career stress. Based on these results, the positive effects of occupational calling of college students, implications of this study, and suggestions for future research are discussed.

Purpose: This study examined relations between perceiving a calling and job satisfaction in probation officers. Additionally, multiple mediator model was run to examine the mediating effect of work meaning and career commitment in the relations of perceiving a calling and job satisfaction. Methods: Four factors (job satisfaction, perceiving a calling, work meaning, career commitment) were measured with Likert scales. Data collection was conducted from Aug. 1 to Sept. 20, 2014 using self-report questionnaires. Participants (211 probation officers) were selected from 7 probation offices and 1 Juvenile Training School in Seoul of South Korea. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21, AMOS 21, and Sobel test. Results: The study result was as followings. 1) Job satisfaction was influenced by perceiving a calling, work meaning and career commitment. 2) Results indicated that work meaning and career commitment fully mediated the relation between perceiving a calling and job satisfaction. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that improving job satisfaction and mental health in probation officers is necessary to implement concerning work meaning and career commitment program at the organizational level.

본 연구는 대학생의 소명이 진로적응성에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 소명과 진로적응성의 관계를 의미 추구와 의미 발견의 과정이 매개하는지 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 4년제 대학교 재학생 245명(남학생 117명, 여학생 128명)을 대상으로 소명 척도, 의미 추구 척도, 의미 발견 척도, 진로적응성 척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집하고, SPSS 25.0과 SPSS Macro를 활용하여 수집된 자료를 분석하였다. 매개모형은 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 검증하였으며, 부트스트래핑 방식을 활용하여 매개효과의 통계적 유의성을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로적응성은 소명, 의미추구, 의미발견 모두와 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 소명은 진로적응성에 직접적으로 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 소명과 진로적응성의 관계를 의미추구와 의미발견이 순차적으로 부분매개하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 실제 상담 장면에서의 적용과 한계점, 그리고 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify factors affecting student adjustment to college among students in health colleges (Nursing, Clinical Pathology, Radiology, Dental Hygienics, Medicine). Methods: The participants in this study were 261 students in Daejeon city. Data were collected from October 5 to October 14, 2014. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection and data was analyzed using the SPSS/WIN program. Results: Career attitude maturity, calling and work as meaning positively correlated with student adjustment to college. The significant predictors of student adjustment to college were career attitude maturity, calling, always working part-time, major in medicine and average grade for the last semester. Conclusion: These findings suggest that adjustment to college for students in health colleges is linked to career attitude maturity, and calling. College organization should develop a curriculum fostering a calling which will promote student adjustment to college and graduate health care professionals with desirable attitudes.

긍정정서의 확장 및 수립이론에 따르면 긍정정서가 다양한 삶의 영역에서 긍정적 결과를 가져온다고 주장한다. 이를 바탕으로 대학생의 긍정정서가 대학생활 만족도를 향상시키고 진로준비에 정적 영향을 미치는지 검토했다. 그리고 이 관계에 소명의식이 매개역할을 하는지 알아보았다. 이를 위해서 대학생 473명을 대상으로 긍정정서, 대학생활 만족도, 진로준비 및 소명의식을 측정하였다. 분석 결과, 긍정정서는 대학생활 만족도와 진로준비를 증진시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 대학생의 소명의식은 긍정정서와 대학생활 만족도 및 진로준비 사이에서 유의미한 매개역할을 하였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 대학생의 행복과 개인의 자원, 그리고 대학생활에 관한 시사점을 논의하였다.

Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between professional vocation and ethical inclination in clinical dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 221 clinical dental hygienist in Busan and Kyeongnam from April 1 to 30, 2014. The questionnaire consisted of structured questions including demographic characteristics(9 questions), vocational calling(9 questions), deontology(12 questions), asceticism(13 questions), and utilitarianism(8 questions). Questionnaire was carried out by Likert scale. Data were analyzed using the statistical package SPSS Window 19.0 for frequency, mean and standard deviation analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and linear regression. Results: There was a significantly positive correlation between professional vocation and ethical inclination. The deontology was associated with education, dental service career, duty hours, and number of clients in multivariate analysis after adjusting for socio-demographic characteristics and professional vocation. Asceticism was also correlated with education, and utilitarianism was closely associated with vocational calling, work place, number of clients, and monthly income. Conclusions: It is necessary to develop the curricula including vocational calling and ethical inclination in the dental hygiene education. The dental hygienists should learn the ethical and vocational calling as a professional career.

본 연구는 대학취업센터에 근무하는 상담자와 대학취업센터를 내방하는 내담자(학생)를 대상으로 상담자의 소명, 내담자의 상담자 지각, 상담자와 내담자가 지각한 작업동맹 간의 관계를 분석하고자 진행되었다. 이를 위해 34개 대학의 대학취업센터에서 진로상담을 담당하는 상담사 110명과 내담자 208명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였고, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 상담자의 소명은 상담자가 지각한 작업동맹에 정적인 영향(${\beta}=.48$, p < .01)을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 25%를 설명하였다. 상담자의 소명은 내담자가 지각한 작업동맹에 정적인 영향(${\beta}=.21$, p < .01)을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 7%를 설명하였다. 둘째, 상담자의 소명은 내담자의 상담자 지각에 정적인 영향(${\beta}=.21$, p < .01)을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 8%를 설명하였다. 이를 통해 소명의식이 높은 상담자들이 작업동맹(상담협력관계)을 잘 맺고, 내담자는 소명의식이 높은 상담자를 전문적이고, 신뢰롭고, 호감있다고 지각할 가능성 역시 높음을 알 수 있었다.

본 연구는 세속 직업에 종사하다가 대학생 선교단체 간사로 경력을 전환한 대학생 선교단체 간사의 경력전환 과정과 경험을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 한국대학생선교회(CCC)에 소속되어 있는 시니어간사 5명을 인터뷰하여 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생 기독선교회 시니어 간사의 경력전환 동기는 소명의식과 유관함을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 경력전환 과정에서 새로운 환경에 대한 적응과 주위로 부터의 격려와 지지를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 간사의 경력전환의 의미는 하고자 했던 일을 다시 찾게 됨과 약속지킴, 특별하고 영광스러운 삶인 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 선교단체 간사의 소명실행은 소명확인의 단계가 필수적임을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 선교단체 간사의 소명실행은 주위 지지자들이 있을 때 더욱 지속됨을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 선교단체 간사의 경력전환경험이 갖는 의미는 소명을 따라가는 삶에 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Purpose: This study was designed to examine effects of sense of calling, job satisfaction and organizational commitment on retention intention in nurses who are at the advanced beginner-stage. Methods: Participants were 199 nurses with 13 to 36 months' clinical career at hospital located in Busan, Korea. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation, and Multiple regression. Results: Retention intention correlated positively with sense of calling (r=.43, p<.001), job satisfaction (r=.31, p<.001) and organizational commitment (r=.31, p<.001). Factors affecting the participants' retention intention were found to be statistically significant (F=21.96, p<.001). Total factor score accounted for 24.1% of retention intention. Out of the related factors, the most influential factor was 'goals/meaning', belonging to the sub-areas of the sense of calling and explaining 18.2% of retention intention, followed by organizational commitment and average monthly income in that order. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest a need to develop a management program that helps promote retention intention for nurses at the advanced beginner-stage by both improving their monthly income and outside conditions and, more importantly, raising their sense of calling, especially in association with the goals/meaning of their life.
