  • Due to the size limit, the voice coil motor (VCM) is adopted in most of the mobile phone camera to control auto-focus instead of step motor. The optical system using the VCM has the property that the focus values are varying even though the same current is induced. It means that an error of the lens position was taken placed due to the characteristics of the VCM. In this paper, a algorithm was proposed to compensate the lens position error using the step size and the search count of each stage. In the proposed algorithm -7 step middle searching stage is inserted the conventional searching algorithm for the fast auto-focus searching and the final searing step size was set to +1 for the precise focus control, respectively. In the experimental results, the focus values was found more fast in the proposed algorithm than the conventional. And more the image quality by the proposed algorithm was superior to that of the conventional.

  • Nuclear power plant has increased continuously for power production in all over the world and the interest about nuclear accident and the dismantling of aging nuclear power plant has been a growing. The leaked radioactive source that is generated by radiation accidents must detect and remove to minimized the damage as soon as possible. Gamma-ray detection system that have been developed until now cannot provide the precise position of radioactive sources because they detect and imaging the position of radiation sources in just two dimensions. In this paper, stereo gamma ray detection system has developed and the algorithm for calculation of the distance has implemented to be able to measure the distribution of the leakage gamma ray source for the system. Stereo camera calibration for distance detection was conducted with the correction pattern and LED light and we carried out performance test of the system for the LED light source and a gamma ray source. In both experiments the results of the performance test, it was confirmed to have a 5% error. The results of this paper is used as a material for the development of gamma-ray imaging device.

  • The thermistors and AD590 are widely used for temperature measurement in space application. The resistance of thermistor will vary according to the temperature variation therefore the external voltage or current stimulus signal have to be provided to measure resistance variation. Recently high resolution electro optic camera system of satellite requires tight thermal control of the camera structure to minimize the thermal structural distortion which can affects the image quality. In order to achieve $1^{\circ}$(deg C) thermal control requirement, the accuracy of temperature measurement have to be higher than $0.3^{\circ}$(deg C). In this paper, the accuracy of temperature measurement using thermistors is estimated and analyzed.

  • RPC(Rational Polynomial Camera) models have become the replacement model of choice for a number of high resolution satellite imagery providers. RPCs(Rational Polynomial Coefficients) provide a compact accurate representation of the ground to image geometry, allowing users to perform full photogrammetric processing of satellite imagery including block adjustment, 3D feature extraction and orthorectification. This paper presents an algorithm for 3D feature extraction using downhill simpler method which requires only function evaluations, not derivatives. The algorithm was implemented as an executable software program and tested using stereo IKONOS images of Seoul city. The results showed that the proposed algorithm was fast and accurate enough to be used as a practical method for the 3D feature extraction from stereo images with RPCs.

  • In this paper, the algorithm to extract the height of flat-rooftop structures in stereo aerial image is suggested with an assumption that location, orientation, focal length, and field of view of a camera are known. It can be adapted to stereo aerial or satellite images. For performing feature-based stereo matching, the line segments suitable to describe the shape of general buildings are chosen as the feature. This paper is composed of three categories;the first step is to extract edges of structures with the polygon extraction algorithm which utilizes the edge following method, the second step is to perform the line segment matching with the camera information, and the last step is to calculate the location of each matched line and to estimate heights. The stereo images used in experiments are not real but synthetic ones. The experiment shows good results.

  • In the real world, there are both dynamic objects and static objects, but an autonomous vehicle or mobile robot cannot distinguish between them, even though a human can distinguish them easily. It is important to distinguish static objects from dynamic objects clearly to perform autonomous driving successfully and stably for an autonomous vehicle or mobile robot. To do this, various sensor systems can be used, like cameras and LiDAR. Stereo camera images are used often for autonomous driving. The stereo camera images can be used in object recognition areas like object segmentation, classification, and tracking, as well as navigation areas like 3D world reconstruction. This study suggests a method to distinguish static/dynamic objects using stereo vision for an online autonomous vehicle and mobile robot. The method was applied to a 3D world map reconstructed from stereo vision for navigation and had 99.81% accuracy.

  • In this paper, I propose a system development methodology that accepts images taken by camera attached to drone in real time while controlling mini drone and recognize and confirm the face of certain person. For the development of this system, OpenCV, Python related libraries and the drone SDK are used. To increase face recognition ratio of certain person from real-time drone images, it uses Deep Learning-based facial recognition algorithm and uses the principle of Triples in particular. To check the performance of the system, the results of 30 experiments for face recognition based on the author's face showed a recognition rate of about 95% or higher. It is believed that research results of this paper can be used to quickly find specific person through drone at tourist sites and festival venues.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare Plaque Percent Index (PPI), calculated by Patient Hygiene Performance Index (PHPI), Rustogi's modification of the Navy Plaque Index (RMNPI), and the Quigley & Hein Plaque Index (QHPI), with visual assessment. Methods: Ninety-six subjects, aged between 30-65 years, were examined; twenty subjects were included in the final analysis. The subjects' teeth were stained and photographed. Dental coloring and intraoral camera photography were performed by a single examiner. The oral images obtained were analyzed using Image J to measure the area of dental plaque. The values of PHPI, RMNPI, and QHPI were calculated twice. Statistical analyses were performed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The results of the correlation analyses of PPI with PHPI, QHPI, and RMNPI were as follows: for PHPI, the correlation coefficient (r)=0.584; for QHPI, r=0.689; and for RMNPI, r=0.729. Further, the kappa indices of PHPI, QHPI, and RMNPI were 0.810, 0.677, and 0.590 respectively. Conclusions: Among RMNPI, QHPI, and PHPI dental plaque indices, RMNPI and QHPI showed a high degree of correlation with the actual stained dental plaque area; on the other hand, PHPI showed the highest kappa index.
