Evaluation of Hydration Characteristics and NOx-removal Performances of Cement Paste Containing Refined TiO2 Obtained from Waste Sludge (폐수 슬러지에서 정제된 TiO2를 혼입한 시멘트 페이스트의 수화특성 및 질소산화물 제거 성능 평가)

  • The present study investigated the hydration properties and NOx-removal performances of the cement pastes containing three different types of TiO2. Two commercially available TiO2 (P-25 and NP-400) and refined TiO2 (GST) obtained from waste sludge were incorporated to cement paste at levels of 0, 5, 10, and 20 wt%. Isothermal calorimetry test results indicated that the TiO2 incorporation induced a notable influence on the reaction kinetics of cement paste, showing the highest cumulative heat release in the samples containing P-25, followed by NP-400 and GST. Quantitative X-ray diffractometry as calculated by the Rietveld method identified that the incorporated TiO2 promoted the formation of C-S-H, ultimately leading to the enhancement in the 28 day-compressive strength of cement pastes. As revealed by SEM/EDS analysis, the content of distributed Ti elements on the surface of the samples was in the order of P-25, GST, and NP-400. Regardless, the NOx-removal performance was the highest in the sample containing P-25, followed by NP-400 and GST.

  • Microwave dielectric properties of the $MgTiO_3-CaTiO_3$ ceramics were investigated for GPS antenna fabrication. (1-X) $MgTiO_3-X CaTiO_3$ ceramics with X=7 mol% sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ exhibited can be dielectric constant of 20.6, the quality factor of 52,500 and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of -1.5 [ppm/$^{\circ}C$]. The results of $0.93MgTiO_3-0.070CaTiO_3$ ceramics with $P_2O_5$/ 0.6 wt% sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ exhibited can be dielectric constant of 21, the quality factor of 58,000 and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of 2.6 [ppm/${\circ}C$]. The size, insertion loss, center frequency and band width of GPS antenna were $20.5{\times}20.5{\times}6[mm]$,-10(dB) and 1575.42(MHz) respectively. The insertion loss, center frequency and band width of the fabricated GPS antenna were -11 (dB), 1579(MHz) and 22(MHz) respectively. The center frequency was higher than design result, but other characteristics of GPS antenna were similar to the results of design result.

  • The photocatalytic oxidation of Rhodamine B (RhB) was studied using immobilized TiO$_2$ and fluidized bed reactor. Immobilized TiO$_2$ onto GF/C was employed as the photocatalyst and a 30 W germicidal lamp was used as the light source and the reactor volume was 4.8 L. The effects of parameters such as the amounts of photocatalyst, initial concentration, initial pH, air flow rate and anion additives (NO$_3$$\^$-/, SO$_4$$\^$2-/, Cl$\^$-/, CO$_3$$\^$2-/) competing for reaction. The results showed that the optimum dosage of the immobilized TiO$_2$ was 40.0 g/L. Initial removal rate of immobilized TiO$_2$ was expressed Langmuir - Hinshelwood equation.

  • Hydrothemal synthesis of PbTiO3 has been investigated. A comprehensive thermodynamic model for heteroge-nous reacting solid-aquous system has been used to predict the optimum condition for the synthesis. Synthesis were performed using lead acetate trihydrate as Pb source crystalline TiO2 as Ti source and KOH as minerali-zer. The synthesis has been examined at low temperature (16$0^{\circ}C$) Phase pure perovskite PbTiO3 has been obtained at high pH(above 0.5 mol KOH). The morphology of PbTiO3 was acicular shape. It has been found sible for a distortion in the c direction. The water is gradully released on annealing the powder to 40$0^{\circ}C$ and the normal crystallographic properties are restored.

  • In this study, in order to develop compositions of ceramics suitable for piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic vibrator applications using low temperature sintering, multilayer, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3$ and $Na_2CO_3$ as sintering aids. Their structural, piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the Zr/Ti ratio. As the Zr/Ti ratio increased, the electromechanical coupling factor $k_p$, and piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ and the mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ all increased with Zr/Ti ratio and then decreased after the ratio exceeded 50/50. At the ratio of Zr/Ti =49/51 and sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$; the density, electromechanical coupling factor $k_p$, dielectric constant ${\varepsilon}_r$ piezoelectric $d_{33}$ constant and mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ all showed the optimum values of 7.900 $g/cm^3$, 0.576, 856, 312 pC/N, 1,326, respectively. These property values are very suitable for multilayer ceramics actuator applications.

  • In this study, in order to develop the lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with high piezoelectric and dielectric properties, $[(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{0.95}Li_{0.05}(Nb_{0.96}Sb_{0.04})]O_3$ ceramics were fabricated using $Ag_2O$ as sintering aid and a conventional mixed oxide process and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the $SrTiO_3$ substitution. $SrTiO_3$ substitution enhanced density, dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) and electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$). However, mechanical quality factor was deteriorated. And also, Curie temperature ($T_c$), and phase transition temperature($T_p$) were rapidly decreased. At the 0.5 mol% $SrTiO_3$ substitution, density, electromechanical coupling factor($k_p$), dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}_r$) and piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$) of specimen showed the optimum value of $4.437\;g/cm^3$, 0.457, 1294, 265 pC/N, respectively.

  • Formation of powders and electromechanical coupling factor of $Pb(Mn_{1/3} Sb_{2/3})_{0.08} Ti_{0.495}Zr_{0.425}O_3$ by hydro-thermal synthesis are described. The hydrothermal reactions each were accomplished at 12$0^{\circ}C$~25$0^{\circ}C$ for 5hours and sintering was accomplished at 1, .20$0^{\circ}C$ for 1hours. The PZT powders by hydrothermal synthesis were formed above 16$0^{\circ}C$ and the forms were cubic types. The ratio of grain size of sintered sample to powder was slowly decreased with the rising of hydrothermal reactino temperature but decreased rapidly above 22$0^{\circ}C$ Sintering density was decreased with the rising of hydrothermal reaction temperature above 16$0^{\circ}C$ but dielectric constant was increased. Electromechanical coupling factor $K_P$ was almost constant at 16$0^{\circ}C$~24$0^{\circ}C$ range and the value of $K_P$ was about 0.43-0.45.

  • The electrical conductivity of undoped mtile was measured in the oxygen partial pressure range of $1~10{-23}$atm and temperature range of $700~1300^{\circ}C$ to investigate the defect types and the electrical properties. The data(logu/logPoz) were divided into the five regions. Therefore the five dominant defect types such as $Ti_nO_{2n-1}$, Ti, Vo, Vo due to impurity, and n-p transition or p-type conduction with the Poz and the temperature were proposed. The formation enthalpies calculated from these experimental results were found to be 10.2eV for Ti, and 4. 92eV for Vo in intrinsic range.

  • The $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ heterolayered thick films were fabricated by the screen printing method on alumina substrates. The effect of the sintering temperature on the microstructure and dielectric properties of the $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ thick films has been investigated. The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss at 1 MHz of the $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ heterolayered thick films with sintering temperature of $1350^{\circ}C$ were about 751 and 1.74, respectively. The remanent polarization $(P_r)$ of the pure $(Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5})TiO_3$ and $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ heterolayered films are approximately $5.1\;{\mu}C/cm^2$ and $10\;{\mu}C/cm^2$. This study suggests that the design of the $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ heterolayered thick films capacitor with different phase should be an effective method to enhance the dielectric and ferroelectric performance in devices.

  • These studies were carried out to obtain the transformant from carrot cells by using binary vector pGA472 with NPT II gene to confer kanamycin resistance in the plant cells. The binary vector pGA472 was mobilized from E. coli MC1000 into A. tumefaciens strains isolated in the Korea, C23-1. K29-1, and disarmed Ti-plasmid PC2760, and A28l using a tri-parental mating method with E. coli HB101/pRK2013. Transconjugants, C23-1/pGA472, K29-1/pGA472, PC2 760/pGA472 and A28l/pGA472 were obtaind on the minimum AB media containing tetracycline and kanamycin, were comfirmed to hold the Ti-plasmid and pGA472 binary vector on the 0.7% agarose gel. Transformed carrot calli were initiated on the MS media supplemented with l00$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml kanamycin and 250$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml carbenicillin after co-cultivation of carrot explant and transconjugant Agrobacteria. Selected callus was grown vigouousley for subculture on the medium containing 100$\mu\textrm{g}$/ml kanamycin, thus indication that the selected callus was transformed with NPT II gene.
