Recently, consumer researchers have been interested in consumption ritual that expressed condensedly the consumption system in a culture. From various disciplines this study examined the 'ritual' and 'ritualized behavior' which are unique to human beings and analyzed the relation of ritualization of consumption experience and buying behavior. According to the degree of ritualization, consumers were categorized into four types - ritualized, habitualized, involved, and non-ritualized consumers. In the empirical study, the relation between ritualization of "dressing-up (i.e. to put on the clothing with the intention of wearing displaying them publicity)" and buying behaviors related to clothing was explored through in-depth interviews and a questionnaire survey with 434 married Korean women. Through statistical analysis, research questions were identified in an empirical study: as the consumption experience becomes more ritualized, the purchasing frequency, ongoing involvement, brand loyalty, and opinion leadership will increase as part of clothing buying behavior. Herein, the implications of the study and further research issues are discussed.
Purpose - This study investigated the effect of the social exclusion experience on the compulsive buying tendency. The purpose of current study is to examine the mechanism through compulsive buying, one of selfdefeating behaviors. While previous studies on compulsive buying focused only on the mechanism of psychological escapism to overcome negative emotions, this study intends to expand the study on the causes of compulsive buying by presenting a social exclusion experience as one of the causes of negative emotions. Research design and methodology - Present study was performed with 114 university students. Participants were assigned to one of two groups at random - the social exclusion experience group and the social exclusion nonexperience group. Authors analyzed the influence of social exclusion experience on the compulsive buying. Results - The social exclusion experience group showed compulsive buying tendency than the social exclusion non-experience group. Conclusions - People with social exclusion experiences avoid self-awareness and show cognitive narrowing, which leads to compulsive buying. Academic implications and practical implications of current research were discussed and the limitations were suggested.

Impulse buying has been considered a pervasive and distinctive phenomenon in the modern lifestyle and has been receiving increasing attention from consumer researchers and theorists. In the modern marketplace, spontaneous urges to buy and consume often compete with the practical necessity to delay the immediate gratification that purchasing provides. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize and test the framework of impulse buying behavior for fashion products using structural equation model. Data were obtained from 413 students attending universities during schedules classes in Busan. Analysis of the data, utilizing AMOS 4.1, supported most of the predictions. The results showed that situational variable(time available) and individual variable(fashion involvement) have direct effects on consumers' shopping emotions, including positive and negative emotion. Positive emotions had effects on all types of impulse buying(planned impulse buying, reminded impulse buying, and fashion-oriented impulse buying), while negative emotion affected two types of impulse buying(reminded impulse buying and fashion-oriented impulse buying). These emotional experiences influence impulse buying behaviors for fashion products serving as critical mediators. The findings suggest that time available and fashion involvement are good predictors mediated by shopping emotion to impulse buying behavior for fashion products. The implications of this research for future work on the shopping emotion and impulse buying behavior are discussed.

This study tests the relation of various fashion-related features of young male consumers. Clothing involvement, fashion involvement, fashion innovativeness, impulsive buying, and brand loyalty have been considered as focal variables in understanding consumer attitudes & behaviors toward fashion. This study proposed hypotheses on the relationships among these variables and tests them with survey data from a convenient sample of male university students. A total 195 complete responses were obtained from young men between 18 and 27 years of age. The results are as follows. First, fashion involvement and clothing involvement significantly (+) affected fashion innovativeness, and fashion innovativeness also significantly (+) affected impulsive buying and brand loyalty. Second, impulsive buying insignificantly affected brand loyalty. Third, the groups of young men divided by the demographical variables partially showed meaningful differences in fashion-related variables of interest. This study investigates the relationships among various fashion variables that have been used as critical explaining variables for fashion attitudes and behaviors, especially for young male consumers.

The purposes of this study were to investigate consumer's antecedent mood, cognitive factors, and experienced affection, to find out the relationships among antecedent mood, cognitive factors, experienced affection, and consumer's characteristics, and to examine the discriminant variables of apparel buying behaviors. We developed an questionaire based on the previous studies and pretests. We collected data from 443 housewives living in Pusan and analyzed by Factor analysis, t-test, and Discriminant analysis. The results showed as following: 1. Antecedent mood consists of four factors and cognitive factors in store were composed of four factors. Experienced affection in store includes Pleasure, Dominant and Stimulating feeling. 2. We discovered that consumer characteristics related to the antecedent mood, the experienced affection and cognitive factors in store. 3. Purchasers didn't relate to the consumer characteristics, and related to the antecedent mood, the cognitive factors, the experienced affection in store. Experienced affection and antecedent moods appeared to be important factors in determining apparel buying behavior of consumers. Especially, Pleasure and Dominance of the experienced affection and Depression, Excitation/expectation. Compulsive buyers are individuals who experience and routinely act on powerful, uncontrollable urges to purchase. The relationships that existed between compulsive buying behaviors among college undergraduates are associated with intended majors, self-esteem and fashion orientation for female college students between the ages of 18 and 24 were investigated. A random sample of 182 undergraduate students completed a questionnaire that contained measures of compulsive buying, self-esteem, and fashion orientation. Based on literature review, three hypotheses were proposed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson Correlation, and Cronbach Alpha were used. The results found that the compulsive buying tendency is negatively related to self-esteem among college students among female college students. Also, the tendency toward higher levels of fashion-orientation was positively related to compulsive buying tendencies. Fashion major was more prone to have compulsive buying tendency when compared to business major. Based on these results, some implications for educators, marketers, consumers and would be suggested.

In today's highly unpredictable marketing environment, where the consumer demands and behaviors are continuously and rapidly changing therefore various factors of consumer impulse buying behavior are proving to be challenging for the existing and new business organizations. Shopping has become a relaxing and rejoicing activity for the consumers making impulsive buying as a socially acceptable and common practice. So by taking into account all these aspects, the objective of this study was to understand the factors affecting impulse buying behavior of the consumer. Store atmosphere and fashion involvement were selected as independent variables while consumer impulse buying behavior was taken as dependent variable for this study. Likewise, impulse buying behavior of consumers with different monthly household income was also analyzed in this study. Primary data was collected through a questionnaire from 250 respondents of district Faisalabad, and then it was analyzed by using various statistical techniques. The results indicated a significant positive impact of store atmosphere and fashion involvement on consumer impulse buying behavior. The study also revealed that among consumer groups with different household incomes; at least one group differed from others in impulse buying behavior. These results were consistent with previous literature. These results could provide information to the marketers and retailers for planning and execution of various marketing techniques. Moreover, educators could expand on the findings by developing new studies examining consumer impulse buying behavior.
