  • Personalization aims to provide customized contents to each user by using the user's personal preferences. In this sense, the core parts of personalization are regarded as recommendation technologies, which can recommend the proper contents or products to each user according to his/her preference. Prior studies have proposed novel recommendation technologies because they recognized the importance of recommender systems. Among several recommendation technologies, collaborative filtering (CF) has been actively studied and applied in real-world applications. The CF, however, often suffers sparsity or scalability problems. Prior research also recognized the importance of these two problems and therefore proposed many solutions. Many prior studies, however, suffered from problems, such as requiring additional time and cost for solving the limitations by utilizing additional information from other sources besides the existing user-item matrix. This study proposes a novel implicit rating approach for collaborative filtering in order to mitigate the sparsity problem as well as to enhance the performance of recommender systems. In this study, we propose the methods of reducing the sparsity problem through supplementing the user-item matrix based on the implicit rating approach, which measures the trust level among users via the existing user-item matrix. This study provides the preliminary experimental results for testing the usefulness of the proposed model.

  • It is the purpose of this study to address how to manage the urban vegitation using the concept of Urban Forestry which is relatively new to Korea. When we consider the Urban Forestry as a science, We should understand it interdisciplinary subject which includes Forestry, Horticulture, Urban Planning, Landscape Design, Landuse Planning, Business and Humanities. It may say that people and tree are the fundermental components of Urban Forestry. So there are two ways of Urban Forestry Applications-How people care for trees and How trees care for People-. For the application, this study places the focus on the monetary valuation, tree inventory system and traditional forestry application to urban forest management. Pubic Relation, Communication, Ordinances and Budget are also mentioned as a part of Urban Forestry Policy. Monetary valuation of trees and forests is very important for the proper cognition of their real value. So that, they may be equated and weighed against conflicting uses which would cause to be removed or severely mutilated. A tree inventory system which is the essential part of urban tree management can provide the pertinent information about the present condition of urban tree resource. It may aid in reducing the subjectivity of tree management decisions and stimulate them to be made rapidly and can help reduce potential municipal liability by identifying serious problems in time for corrective maintenance practices to be applied for the maximize community benefits and minimimize public nuisances or hazards. Managers can derive the information from the inventory and use it for the various management plan. When we see the structure of tree inventory system as one of the data base management system, Computer is the best equipment for the efficient management plan. Public relation and communication is also important factors to care the people for urban vegetation management. Volunteer management system is a good example for the public relation and communication. Those skills are need to develop for using the priceless, valuable human resources. Budget holds the key to the execution of Urban Forestry. Good inventory can provide for efficient budgeting stratiges through it's scientific analysis for the way of maximum benefits and minimum costs. Forest can be play a vital role for the aesthetic improvement and recreation in the city. This study suggests that the traditional sivicultural application not only improve the quality of scenic beauty and recreation but also the products of timber. So it is more needed to study for strong and scientific application to urban forest management.

  • Even though the features of the products are almost identical, customers' reactions to each product are quite different depending on the brand image. The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of smart phone's brand images on customer's satisfaction and loyalty and compare the differences between user groups of the Galaxy and iPhone, two representative brands of smart phone. In order to do this, their brand images were classified into functional, symbolic and experiential brand images, and customer's loyalty was also classified into attitudinal and behavioral ones to empirically confirm the influence of those factors. The findings showed that functional and experiential brand images had a positive effect on their level of satisfaction, while symbolic brand images did not have a significant effect on it. Furthermore, it was found that the satisfaction level had a significant effect on attitudinal and behavioral loyalty, and attitudinal loyalty also had a significant effect on behavioral loyalty. Finally, a multiple group analysis of the user groups of Galaxy and iPhone determined that there was a statistically significant difference in the channel between customer satisfaction and attitudinal loyalty.

  • Today Korean clothing companies are experiencing difficulties in the global market due to unfavorable business conditions including poor production environments, labor shortage, rising costs, the further opening of the domestic distribution market, and increased competition among them. As a result, this has caused many of Korean clothing companies to transfer their production bases abroad in search of relatively inexpensive labor force, instead of using domestic plants. This study attempted to examine how Korean clothing companies perceive production environments and labor standards with regard to their offshore outsourcing. In such an attempt, in-depth interviews were conducted with 24 brand-name clothing firms. Those interviewed firms were the brands for the domestic or foreign market that were found to produce more than 200,000 pieces of clothing per year, and also the group of interviewees included some promotion service providers. The key findings from this study are as follows: First, a large number of the interviewed clothing companies were found to manage their foreign contract manufacturers by "visiting their factories regularly on a seasonal basis" or "stationing their personnel in factory for management purposes." Second, in relation to quality control in their foreign manufacturers, the most frequent response was to "have personnel stationed in those manufacturers." A smaller number of the clothing companies answered that they had "engaged their production management teams in quality control from time to time," or "used their inspectors to inspect products." Third, when asked about labor standards in foreign contract manufacturers, the largest number of the clothing companies responded, "we apply our own standards." The results of this study suggest that most of domestic clothing companies still use offshore sourcing just as a means of reducing their initial labor costs. However, in the continuously changing environment of the global clothing industry, clothing businesses are required to escape from the early phases of their manufacturing environments and set up more globalized standards.

  • This study is a study on the performance of design services among export voucher projects. In particular, we have identified the actual state of use of design services from the perspective of participating companies and the corresponding problems. The purpose of the study is to provide basic data for the preparation of successful support plans in the field of design services. This study designed a quantitative survey to measure accurate performance of design services using archive records, and the survey was sent three times in total to 135 participating companies. A significant achievement of design services the study found is that the role of design were important in the export of the nation's main industries such as medical/biological/healthcare and electrical/electronic products. In addition, we could see that all participating companies were using design services regardless of the difference in sales. In particular, 96% of participating companies answered that the design service effect was the most effective service. As a result, it proved the importance of design services in export voucher projects, and suggested the importance of introducing a management system as a direction for the development of design services in future export voucher projects. As a follow - up study of the service philosophy consistency study of the Korean original idea, we searched for the coherence as the philosophy of the service age in the Korean representative ideology. The basic structure and operation model of service philosophy are presented, and the service philosophy of major korean ideology is derived. The philosophy of service can be presented by the structure of service and the operation of service. The essential characteristics of the service are relationship, interactivity, horizontality, and harmony, and the service structure that reflects this is the coexistence of products and services. Based on the discussion on the structure and operation of the service philosophy, the service philosophy synthesis of Korean representative ideology is presented. From the Silla era to the Koryo dynasty, the essence of Korean Buddhism thought is in line with the service philosophy, and it was found that Toegye and Yulgok to Dasan's thoughts are also consistent with service philosophy. In the future, we need further studies to refine the structure and operational principles of the service philosophy and to develop it into a big idea. In addition, it is necessary to follow up the service philosophy of Oriental representative ideology centering on Chinese and Indian philosophy. Ultimately, it is necessary to establish a service philosophy as the main philosophical thought and to establish a service philosophy as a desirable future economic and social philosophy.

  • Since the global financial crisis, criticism against the integrity of financial institutions proposed new financial regulations such as Basel III. These systems are expected to have impacts multilaterally on management and structure of mid- and long-term financial industry. It is also believed that financial institutions will inevitably review business model to respond to these enhanced regulations. The ongoing global financial regulation pursues regulation scope extension, introduction of global regulatory capital system, introduction of global liquidity, etc. As for quantitative index, Basel Committee on Banking Supervision is promoting QIS which is discussed mainly on implementation time from the juridical point of view. This study aims to present domestic banking industry's structural changes depending on regulation enhancement of foreign countries after global financial crisis, and suggest strategy that improves competitiveness of products. Looking at the research result, global financial regulation requires compliance with the regulations through treaties but it shows negative time center around banks. Furthermore, it is also pointed out financially advanced countries' passive attitude on regulation enhancement is problem. Therefore, regulations differentiated between developing and developed countries, dualistic regulations on financial industry, participation of advanced nations, etc are the postulation to change the structure of financial industry.

  • This study focuses on the development of simple qualitative indicators for evaluating and selecting innovation leading companies that challenge National Award. Another purpose of this study is to complement the aspect in which the innovative or value of the companies' products, technologies, and services is only quantitatively evaluated. Existing evaluation indicators of national award have too many evaluation items and were not suitable for innovation-based company evaluation. The research approach is to select category for developing qualitative indicators based on previous studies and TF discussion. From the input-process-output-outcome point of view, we have set up an indicator system as a series of flows. Finally, five categories such as creativity, system excellence, customer value, performance, and ripple effects are selected as qualitative indicator. For these selected indicators, conceptual definitions and the main points of evaluation are described. And the system level evaluation and the ADLI approach are presented for reference. The appendix also includes examples of qualitative and quantitative evaluation of real companies using these indicators. However, this study implies the possibility that the evaluation results may vary depending on the level and perspective of the evaluator. We hoped that detailed research on candidate indicators that can be used as qualitative indicators and research on the development of mixed indicators(qualitative and quantitative) will continue in the future.
