  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the problems caused by the lack of institutional establishment of broadcasting contents' concept, to present the categories and significance of broadcast contents concepts, and to promote discussions on defining broadcasting contents concepts. As the pattern of enjoying contents becomes fragmented, broadcasting contents such as dramas, entertainment, and documentaries are enjoyed in various ways through N-screens, beyond the distribution structure of the traditional broadcasting industry. But, the concept of broadcasting contents is subordinate to(or even absent from) the distribution structure of the broadcasting industry. This paper seeks to correct this problem by proposing a new definition of broadcasting contents. First of all, as a result of looking at the need to define the concept of broadcasting contents in various ways in principle, legal, and industrial aspects, broadcasting contents needed to be defined as a new concept independent of broadcasting media. Based on this, the existing discussions on the concept and type of broadcasting contents were reviewed to confirm the direction for establishing broadcasting contents concepts, and to define broadcasting contents into higher categories (liberal arts, entertainment), and lower categories ('documentaries, current affairs, education', 'dramas, animation, music, variety, sports').

  • The 'Anytime, Anywhere' services have been the biggest topic in the recent digital broadcasting research area. The related applications for the Anytime and Anywhere Services are as follows: the personalized broadcasting based on the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) for the Anytime Services, and the DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), the mobile devices supporting the wireless network and the Second TV and so on for the anywhere services. The personalized broadcasting has been researched on the one of the killer applications in the various broadcasting environment - the ground wave broadcasting, the satellite broadcasting, IPTV and CATV broadcasting suchlike. The applied contents of the personalized broadcasting have advanced from the main contents for the broadcasting to the interstitial contents like advertisements and coupons, the personalized interstitial broadcasting needs to develop the technology about the generation, storing and management of the interstitial metadata. but, the personalized broadcasting has the limitation that the TV environment is somewhat difficult to support the personalized broadcasting individually, because all family usually share the main TV at home. The Second TV is possible to solve the environmental limitation. This paper designs and develops the static set top box at home, the Second TV and their multimedia streaming techniques for the personalized broadcasting of the contents including the interstitial contents.

  • Broadcasting environment of present our country is greeting period of transition that undergo a change to digital broadcasting system in analog broadcasting system continued for last several decades. With change of these broadcasting environment interest about various digital broadcasting contents industry that fill to digital broadcasting infra and unlawfulness reproduction prevention technology far digital broadcasting contents of high added value is rising. According as is converted to digital broadcasting environment interest about reproduction prevention is well-founded to be risen sensitively. First analog broadcasting environment can not remove perfectly error at transmission in receiver, but can reconstruct contents such as original by error correction function in receiver in the case of digital broadcasting environment. Secondarily, although quality of copy is dwindled than original repeat reproduction in case of analog, many copies are available innumerably regardless of number of times of copy keeping quality such as original in the case of digital And third element is possible easily to anyone to on-line along with development of internet in case of digital contents unlike analog. Under these background, this thesis wish to design and implement digital contents protection system to prevent unlawfulness reproduction and distribution of digital contents using Triple DES algorithm.

  • This paper introduces an interactive contents authoring system which can easily and conveniently produce interactive contents for the Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB). For interactive broadcasting service, T-DMB adopted MPEG-4 BIFS technology. In order to the interactive service becomes flourishing on the market, various types of interactive contents should be well provided prior to the service. In MPEG-4 BIFS, broadcasting contents are described by the combination of a large number of nodes, routes and descriptors. In order to provide interactive data services through the T-DMB network, it is essential to have an interactive contents authoring system which allows contents authors to compose interactive contents easily and conveniently even if they lack any background on MPEG-4 BIFS technology. The introduced authoring system provides powerful graphical user Interface and produces interactive broadcasting contents in the forms of binary and textual format. Therefore, the BIFS contents authoring system presented in this paper would vastly contribute to the flourishing interactive service.

  • The MPEG-4 standard is aimed to define an object based audiovisual coding standard to address the emerging needs from interactive broadcasting. Since a broadcasting program is created on the basis of its objects, it is considered that MPEG-4 is most suitable for interactive broadcasting contents production and it can be retrieved in terms of its properties. But, there is no system that protects the copyright of digital contents and manages copyright and possibility that contents producer and author's copyright receives infringement at process that exchange contents mutually rose very. Therefore, we need to control and distribute contents according to user's permission rights. In this paper, we present the authoring system based on MPEG-4 IPMP for copyright and protection of MPEG-4 contents. The main features of the proposed approach is to provide an MPEG-4 compliant IPMP authoring system in a plug-in type along with standardized interfaces, which is to be able to incorporated into an existing MPEG-4 content authoring system. In this way, it is capable of authoring content to the MP4 file format while accommodating protection and management of content in a unified way. Furthermore, it also allows a user to edit and/or author IPMP information in a more efficient way by offering form based user interfaces.
