This study examined changes in dietary life and dietary life satisfaction in one-person households during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a sample of 916 one-person households from the Food Consumption Behavior Survey, we applied ANOVA and a system of equations model for our analysis which produced four main results. Firstly, during the COVID-19 pandemic, eating homemade and delivered meals increased, whereas eating restaurant, group, and HMR meals decreased. Eating breakfast and regular eating habits also increased during the pandemic. Secondly, approximately 30% of the sample reported increased expenditure on fresh food and HMR meals. The proportion of positive changes in dietary life was also greater than negative changes, and dietary life satisfaction was about three times higher than it had been before the pandemic. Thirdly, having breakfast and regular eating fully mediated the relationship between spending on fresh food and dietary life satisfaction, as well as the relationship between HMR purchases and dietary life satisfaction. Changes in expenditure on fresh food and HMR meals positively affected dietary life satisfaction through eating breakfast and regular eating. Fourthly, increased consumption of delivered food had a positive direct effect on dietary life satisfaction. Among sociodemographic variables, gender, education, occupation, and age were also significantly related to changes in dietary life satisfaction.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eating behaviors on subjective happiness of adolescents in South Korea. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. Using the statistics of the 13th (2017) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, multiple logistic regression was conducted. The study sample comprised 62,276 middle and high school students aged primarily 12 to 17. Results: The rate of skipping breakfast more than five days per week was 31.5%, the rate of eating fast food more than three times per week was 20.5%, the rate of eating ramen more than three times per week was 25.9%, and the rate of eating at a convenience store more than three times per week was 26.0%. The eating behaviors affecting the subjective happiness of Korean adolescents were skipping breakfast and eating at a convenience store. Conclusion: In order to improve the negative eating behaviors that affect the subjective happiness of adolescents, various efforts will be needed at various levels such as home, school, community, and country.
The present study investigated the nutritional intake and health condition of 389 female college students living in Iksan, Jeonbuk, dependent on their frequency of breakfast. The subjects were evenly distributed in terms of their age, 61.7% were living at home with their parents, and most responded that they were from a middle income level. Of the subjects, 43.2% always had breakfast (more than 5 times a week), 26.5% sometimes (3 to 4 times a week); 30.3% seldom had breakfast (less than twice a week). The most frequent reason why they skipped breakfast was they were late risers (53%); 38.7% started to skip breakfast during their high school days. The nutritional intake based on whether or not they had breakfast showed that the intake of all nutrients including energy was higher in the students who always or sometimes had breakfast than in those who seldom did (p<0.05-0.001). The presence of clinical symptoms was dependent upon their intake of breakfast. It showed that the students who seldom ate breakfast, had more symptoms of convulsions, nervousness, neck or shoulder pain and indigestion, than those who always, or sometimes ate it (p<0.05-0.01). In all three groups, the largest number of students exercised once or twice a week. Their major reason for exercising was to lose weight. The degree of obesity based on the Body Mass Index (BMI) was in the normal range for 69.7% of the subjects. Female college students ate breakfast irregularly seemed to have a lower intake of nutrients and poorer health. In this regard, we should recognize the importance of eating breakfast, and should make a habit of doing so.
This study was performed to examine dietary habits, nutrition knowledge and dietary behaviors of elementary school students by sex and skipping breakfast. The subjects were 3rd grade elementary school students in Ulsan area (total 1,349; 734 males and 615 females). The skipping breakfast group were 215 students, 15.4% of total subjects. Major reasons for skipping breakfast were 'have no time' 27.8%, 'no appetite' 26.9%, 'over sleeping' 14.9%. Females and eating breakfast group had better dietary habits than males and skipping breakfast group. The scores of nutrition knowledge of females were higher than those of males. The dietary behaviors scores of eating breakfast group were higher than those of skipping the breakfast categories. Our results showed that these difference by sex and skipping breakfast in dietary habits, nutrition knowledges, dietary behaviors should be considered in developing of nutrition education program for low-grade elementary school students.

The purpose of this study was to investigate eating behavior and the attitude about weight control of the High School Girls. The questionnaires were completed by 519 girls’ high school students.(lived in city ; 269, in mine region ; 250) The results were as follows: 1. The average stature of them was 159.01${\pm}$5.09cm, the average weight was 51.64${\pm}$6.76kg. 2. In the present body structure of them, the underweight structure was 26.2% the normal weight structure was 58.4% the overweight structure was 15.4%. The present body structure was very different from the recognition of their own body structure. 3. The average point of the eating behavior was 52.07 and that of city(53.62 point) was higher than mine region(50.01 point). 4. The rate of going without breakfast(P<0.05) the frequency of snack(p<0.001) the eating rate of stimulus foods(p<0.05) the interest healthy food life(p<0.05) in two regions showed the significant difference. 5. The point of eating behavior in two regions showed the positive correlation in the economic level, the contentment degree of the present body structure, the conscious healthy condition. But it showed the negative correlation in the rate of going without of breakfast. On observing the difference of the tow regions, it showed the positive correlation to mother’s education career on the negative relation to the experience of the weight control in the city. In the other hand it showed the negative correlation to the recognition on degree of the present body structure in the mine region. 6. The contentment degree of the present body structure showed the negative correlation to the experience of the weight control. Also it showed the negative correlation to the rate of going without breakfast in the city.
The aim of this study was to determine what kinds of foods university students have, how often they eat out and the regularity and quantity of food they consume. A questionnaire surrey was conducted on 597 university students. The main results are as follows : The average weight of the participants was 68.24kg(male) and 53.12kg(female) with average height 174.50cm(male) and 162.48cm(female). Many students ate irregularly (breakfast 73.5%, lunch 54.4%. dinner 57.1%). The percentage students who had a meal with the average amounts of food were 32.2%(breakfast), 61.1%(lunch), 39.2%(dinner). Male students ate out than female (lunch>dinner>breakfast). Male students usually ate rice, meat, fish, soybean and seaweeds, Female students ate bread, fruits and milk products. Male students consumed carbonated beverages drinks and alcohol more often than females-who consumed many types of-snack More female students preferred fast food than males.

The hypothesis of this study was that greater sugar consumption at breakfast promotes a stronger sensation of hunger and a later increase in energy consumption. The objective was to assess the relation between sugar consumption in a meal and the subsequent sensations of hunger and ad libitum food consumption. Sixteen women consumed a breakfast accompanied by 2 drinks sweetened ad libitum with sugar. After 3 h, a lunch was offered to evaluate ad libitum food consumption. During the period from breakfast to lunch, hunger sensations were evaluated at 30 min intervals. Women were divided according to the median amount of sugar used to sweeten the breakfast drinks (20 g). The group who consumed sugar above the median showed a greater hunger sensation in the preprandial period, and a greater ad libitum intake at lunch ($390{\pm}130g{\times}256{\pm}67g$, P = 0.002), compared to the group who had a lower sugar consumption. The amount of sugar consumed at breakfast was correlated positively with the sensation of preprandial hunger and food intake at lunch. We concluded that foods with a high glycemic index can modulate the appetite within a short period of time.
The purpose of this study is to investigate dining out behavior of college student living in jeju. The data obtained from 533 questionnaires returned by college student. 36.9% of students indicated over-eating, 27.2% did skipping meal, 14.8% did unbalanced diet, and 11.3% did indulging in hot and spicy food as dietary problems of food habits. Many students consumed 5,000-10,000 won/one time. In the breakfast 63.6% of students did not eat out, in the lunch only 10.5%, and in the dinner only 1.7% did not. The students ate out to take a meal in the breakfast, to meet their friends in the lunch, and to meet their friends and to haute social meeting in the supper. They considered intake nutrition and time saving in the breakfast when they ate out. But in the lunch they had various purposes- intake nutrition, time saving, making with relationships, and enjoying taste of foods. In the supper two-thirds of students considered promoting friendship. The satisfaction of eating out was different significantly from types of living and length of mealtime.
We studied teachers' breakfast habits and their preferences on various breakfast types so that we will furnish data to nutrition education including ideal breakfast habit and development of various menus. The meal considered as most importantly were dinner (66.2%), fellowed by lunch(21.6%), all three meals(6.4%) and breakfast(5.8%). Men considered breakfast more importantly than women. On the contrary, women considered dinner more significantly compared to men. The group aged 45 and over emphasized breakfast and all three meal. 78.1% of subjects answered that breakfast is necessary and 61.5% of subjects ate breakfast regularly. Those who have breakfast regularly was lower in women(50.0%) than in men(71.3%). Instead, those who eat breakfast irregularly or skipping it was higher among women(50.0%) than among men(29.7%). The percentages of having breakfast regularly was higher in older groups. For breakfast, 82.1% of subjects had conventional meal which included rice, soup and Kimch. On the other hand, 13.9% of subjects had Western style breakfast such as bread, cornflakes and milk. The major reason for eating breakfast regularly was answered as 'maintain health(71.8%)'. The major reason for eating breakfast irregularly or skipping was 'don't have enough time to eat(48.0%)', 'poor appetite(28.6%)'. The major physical discomfort after skipping breakfast was 'experience brash(35.6%)', 'lack of physical strength(35.1%)'. Subjects answered that breakfast served as 'source of physical strength(64.9%)', 'provides nutritional balance for a day(21.1%)' and 15.0% of subjects ate out breakfast. Therefore, it is suggested that teachers as well as school children be provided breakfast and snack in school. The preference and opinion regarding breakfast types wer conventional food including rice, soup and Kimch(67.0%). There was a little preference in Western style food such as bread, milk and coffee(14.3%), cereals mixture and porridge(10.7%). It was noticeable that 49.1% of females and those who reside in Seoul(42.2%) selected various breakfast types excluding conventional food. Therefore it will be accepted to working women as breakfast if it is nutritionally balanced and cook well in short time.

This study investigated eating behaviors (life-style, breakfast pattern, eating environment, snack pattern, and awareness of breakfast) by breakfast frequency (0~2 times, 3~6 times, and 7 times per week) of high school students (146 males and 165 females) in the Yongin region. The percentage of 'mother' as breakfast preparer increased with elevated breakfast frequency, whereas 'myself' was lower for females (P<0.001). Regarding reasons for skipping breakfast, 'getting more sleep' increased with elevated breakfast frequency, whereas 'loosing appetite' decreased in males (P<0.001). Regarding family reaction to skipping breakfast, 'advising' increased with elevated breakfast frequency in females (P<0.001). Skipping breakfast by eating snacks was higher in females (51.6%) than in males (35.6%), and skipping dinner was higher (53.4%) in females. Awareness of breakfast importance increased with elevated breakfast frequency in males (P<0.05) and females (P<0.001). Perception of correlation between health and breakfast was higher in females (54.8%) compared to males (43.9%), and the most important reason was 'energy supplement'. 'Eating now and will eat' increased with elevated breakfast frequency in males (P<0.001) and females (P<0.001), whereas sum of 'not eating now and will not eat' and 'eating now but will not eat' were 19.2% and 14.2% in males and females, respectively. Therefore, appropriate education programs emphasizing importance of eating breakfast and environmental improvement for regularly eating breakfast for high school students are highly required.
