Object Detection based on Mask R-CNN from Infrared Camera (적외선 카메라 영상에서의 마스크 R-CNN기반 발열객체검출)

  • Recently introduced Mask R - CNN presents a conceptually simple, flexible, general framework for instance segmentation of objects. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for efficiently searching objects of images, while creating a segmentation mask of heat generation part for an instance which is a heating element in a heat sensed image acquired from a thermal infrared camera. This method called a mask R - CNN is an algorithm that extends Faster R - CNN by adding a branch for predicting an object mask in parallel with an existing branch for recognition of a bounding box. The mask R - CNN is added to the high - speed R - CNN which training is easy and fast to execute. Also, it is easy to generalize the mask R - CNN to other tasks. In this research, we propose an infrared image detection algorithm based on R - CNN and detect heating elements which can not be distinguished by RGB images. As a result of the experiment, a heat-generating object which can not be discriminated from Mask R-CNN was detected normally.

The Effects of Corner Transistors in STI-isolated SOI MOSFETs

  • In this work, the effects of corner transistors in SOI MOSFETs were investigated. We fabricated SOI MOSFETs with various widths and a fixed length and characterized them. The SOI thickness was $4000{\AA}$ and the buried oxide(BOX) thickness was $4000{\AA}$. The isolation of active region was simply done by silicon etching and TEOS sidewall formation. Several undesirable characteristics have been reported for LOCOS isolation in fabrication on SOI wafers so far. Although we used an STI-like process instead of LOCOS, there were still a couple of abnormal phenomena such as kinks and double humps in drain current. Above all, we investigated the location of the parasitic transistors and found that they were at the corners of the SOI in width direction by high-resolution SEM inspection. It turned out that their characteristics are strongly dependent on the channel width. We made a contact pad through which we can control the body potential and figured out the dependency of operation on the body potential. The double humps became more prominent as the body bias went more negative until the full depletion of the channel where the threshold voltage shift did not occur any more. Through these works, we could get insights on the process that can reduce the effects of corner transistors in SOI MOSFETs, and several possible solutions are suggested at the end.

Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis in Identification of Endometrial Cancer Prognosis Markers

  • Objective: Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynecologic malignancy. Identification of potential biomarkers of EC would be helpful for the detection and monitoring of malignancy, improving clinical outcomes. Methods: The Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis method was used to identify prognostic markers for EC in this study. Moreover, underlying molecular mechanisms were characterized by KEGG pathway enrichment and transcriptional regulation analyses. Results: Seven gene co-expression modules were obtained, but only the turquoise module was positively related with EC stage. Among the genes in the turquoise module, COL5A2 (collagen, type V, alpha 2) could be regulated by PBX (pre-B-cell leukemia homeobox 1)1/2 and HOXB1(homeobox B1) transcription factors to be involved in the focal adhesion pathway; CENP-E (centromere protein E, 312kDa) by E2F4 (E2F transcription factor 4, p107/p130-binding); MYCN (v-myc myelocytomatosis viral related oncogene, neuroblastoma derived [avian]) by PAX5 (paired box 5); and BCL-2 (B-cell CLL/lymphoma 2) and IGFBP-6 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein 6) by GLI1. They were predicted to be associated with EC progression via Hedgehog signaling and other cancer related-pathways. Conclusions: These data on transcriptional regulation may provide a better understanding of molecular mechanisms and clues to potential therapeutic targets in the treatment of EC.

  • This study based on the hypothesis which the spatial qualities in the Mies's early works are not extinct but potentially immanent in his latter works. In Mies's early works, destruction of outline, centrifugal extension of fluid space, and asymmetry are distinctly showed. These qualities probably revert to the indefiniteness of space. In Mies's latter works, however, these dynamic qualities are disappeared. Geometrically precise outline and exact grid structure represent universal space derived from zero-degree pure box. These qualities probably revert to tile definiteness of space, characterized by the unmovable emptiness. Although Mies works vary in external form, his expression technique of space reveals continually both the qualify of definitive and indefinitive space. For example, in the Museum for a Small City(1942) unbuilt project. elements defined by the perspective are fixed and static, but elements defined by the collages are floated and dynamic. The former reigns over the realized buildings of Mies, while the latter seems to be latent in terms of Schein which transcends reality. If we can penetrate this point, it's possible to read the other side of Mies' architectural works, distinct from both the canonized interpretation and the excessive criticism. Point is that later works of Mies must be understood as interplay of universal space appeared as phenomenon and flowing elements latent in. Architectural space of Mies keeps a distance with actual space through latent manner of being while preserves the empirical actuality It provides us with an occasion which appears only in an instant, in which even the ordinary things reveal its poetics.

Evaluation of Antibacterial Property and Freshness Maintenance of Functional Hybrid Corrugated Board Used for Agricultural Products (농산물용 복합 골판지의 항균성 및 선도유지기능 평가)

  • We developed a new antibacterial material, a non-woven fabric, a sulfur solution, and a new adhesive system to manufacture a new type of functional hybrid corrugated board in previous studies. Based on experimental data, the prototypes of functional hybrid corrugated boards were manufactured and their physical properties and functionalities, including antibacterial property and the freshness maintenance of sweet persimmon, were measured in this study. The functional hybrid corrugated board could be manufactured in the actual process with linerboards, non-woven fabrics, and other materials without any troubles, and was strong enough to be used as a packaging box for agricultural products. The antibacterial property of the hybrid corrugated board showed a value high enough to eliminate bacteria, which could deteriorate the sweet persimmons. Based on appearance observations, weight loss and firmness measurements, the freshness of sweet persimmons in the functional hybrid corrugated board was maintained better than it was in the conventional corrugated board.

Characterization of the Cu-layer deposition time on Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) Thin Film Solar Cells Fabricated by Electro-deposition (Cu층 증착시간에 따른 Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) 박막의 특성)

  • $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ (CZTS) thin films were fabricated by successive electrodeposition of layers of precursor elements followed by sulfurization of an electrodeposited Cu-Zn-Sn precursor. In order to improve quality of the CZTS films, we tried to optimize the deposition condition of absorber layers. In particular, I have conducted optimization experiments by changing the Cu-layer deposition time. The CZTS absorber layers were synthesized by different Cu-layer conditions ranging from 10 to 16 minutes. The sulfurization of Cu/Sn/Zn stacked metallic precursor thin films has been conducted in a graphite box using rapid thermal annealing (RTA). The structural, morphological, compositional, and optical properties of CZTS thin films were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray Flourescenece Spectrometry (XRF). Especially, the CZTS TFSCs exhibits the best power conversion efficiency of 4.62% with $V_{oc}$ of 570 mV, $J_{sc}$ of $18.15mA/cm^2$ and FF of 45%. As the time of deposition of the Cu-layer to increasing, the properties were confirmed to be systematically changed. And we have been discussed in detail below.

Stroke Recovery Can be Enhanced by using Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Combined with Mirror Therapy

  • The aim of the present study was to examine whether mirror therapy, in conjunction with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), can improve the upper extremity function of stroke patient. This study was conducted with 35 subjects, who were diagnosed as a hemiparesis by stroke. The Mirror plus rTMS group was of 12 members who undertook mirror therapy in conjunction with rTMS, the Mirror group was of 11 members who undertook mirror therapy, and the control group was of 12 members who undertook sham therapy. A motor cortex excitability was performed by motor evoked potential, and upper limb function was evaluated by Fugl-Meyer Assessment, and Box and Block Test. Significant difference was shown after the experiment, in comparison of the groups in terms of latency, and as the result of post hoc test, significant difference was shown between the Mirror plus rTMS group and control group, and between the Mirror group and control group, respectively. Significant difference was shown after the experiment in comparison of the groups in amplitude, and as the result of post hoc test, significant difference was shown between the Mirror plus rTMS group and Mirror group, and between the Mirror plus rTMS group and control group. Experimental Study on Development for Separation and Reinforcement Geotextiles with Horizontal Wicking Drain Property (수평방향의 위킹 배수 특성을 지닌 분리·보강용 지오텍스타일 개발을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • According to the recent civil engineering construction work site which is a complex process, development of multi-functional geotextiles is required. In this study, the characteristics of five different modified cross-section fiber yarns for the selection of wicking yarns were analyzed and yarns that can achieve target properties were selected. Experimental prototype geotextiles suitable for horizontal wicking drain property and reinforcement was developed and its tensile strength, 2% secant modulus, vertical water permeability, AOS, friction characteristics by the direct shear method, and vertical/horizontal wicking test were analyzed. These tests are conducted to verify the performance of the geotextiles with horizontal wick drain property, separation and reinforcement developed in this study. As a results of the indoor soil box test, it was confirmed that the geotextiles using the wicking yarn sufficiently exhibited the function of discharging excess pore water in the horizontal direction.

The Effects of Home-Based Action Observation Training on Upper Extremity Function in Tumor-Induced Hemiparetic Patient : Single Case Study (동작관찰 훈련이 뇌종양으로 인한 편마비 환자의 상지기능과 삶의 질에 미치는 효과: 단일사례연구)

  • Objective : This study aimed to investigate the effects of home-based action observation training on upper extremity in brain tumor patient. Methods : Among the single case study design, this experiment used ABA' design. The evaluations were carried out 4 times during pre baseline period(A) and post baseline period(A') respectively. At the intervention period(B), a total of 25 times of action observation training and 10 times of evaluation were administered. Results : Study results indicate that 9-hole peg test, Box and Block Test, Manual Function Test were increased when compared to action observation intervention(B) to pre intervention baseline(A). Conclusion : Based on these results, home-based action observation training may be an effective upper extremity intervention strategy for tumor-induced hemiparetic patient.

Identification of specifically activated angiogenic molecules in HMGB-1-induced angiogenesis

  • High-mobility group box-1 (HMGB-1) is expressed in almost all cells, and its dysregulated expression correlates with inflammatory diseases, ischemia, and cancer. Some of these conditions accompany HMGB-1-mediated abnormal angiogenesis. Thus far, the mechanism of HMGB-1-induced angiogenesis remains largely unknown. In this study, we performed time-dependent DNA microarray analysis of endothelial cells (ECs) after HMGB-1 or VEGF treatment. The pathway analysis of each gene set upregulated by HMGB-1 or VEGF showed that most HMGB-1-induced angiogenic pathways were also activated by VEGF, although the activation time and gene sets belonging to the pathways differed. In addition, HMGB-1 upregulated some VEGFR signaling-related angiogenic factors including EGR1 and, importantly, novel angiogenic factors, such as ABL2, CEACAM1, KIT, and VIPR1, which are reported to independently promote angiogenesis under physiological and pathological conditions. Our findings suggest that HMGB-1 independently induces angiogenesis by activating HMGB-1-specific angiogenic factors and also functions as an accelerator for VEGF-mediated conventional angiogenesis.
