  • This paper presents a recoil and counter recoil motion measurement system using linear variable differential transformers (LVDT). The output of the LVDT is obtained from the differential voltage of the secondary transformers. Since a transducer core is attached to the motion body, the output is directly proportional to the movement length of the core. Displacement, velocity and acceleration are measured from the LVDT. With a comparison between the measurement result and the reference value obtained by the highly accurate Vernier calipers, it is proved that the measurement system with the LVDT is applicable to the test of the moving part of the mechanism with better accuracy.

  • In this paper, we propose a simple and relative electrode contact monitoring method. By exploiting the power line interference, which is regarded as one of the worst noise sources for bio-potential measurement, the relative difference in electrode impedance can be measured without a current or voltage source. Substantial benefits, including no extra circuit components, no degradation of the body potential driving circuit, and no electrical safety problem, can be achieved using this method. Furthermore, this method can be applied to multi-channel isolated bio-potential measurement systems and home health care devices under a steady measuring environment.

  • A novel structure, which can suppress latch-up phenomena, is proposed and verified by the PISCESIIB simulation. It is shown that this structure employing the selective N+ buffer layer increases latch-up current density due to suppression of the current flowing through the p-body. The width of the N+ buffer layer is optimized considering the trade-off between the latch-up current density and the forward voltage drop. The selective buffer layer results in an improved trade-off relationship compared with the uniform buffer layer.

  • This paper presents a recoil and counter recoil motion measurement method using linear variable differential transformers(LVDT). The output of a LVDT is obtained from the differential voltage of the 2nd transformers. As the sensor core is attached to the motion body, the output is directly proportional to the core motion. Displacement, velocity and acceleration are measured from the core length. A comparison between the measurement result and the known value, which is obtained by the precision steel tape, shows that the accuracy and the usefulness of the proposed scheme is validated.

  • A finite element model for polarization switching in electro-mechanically coupled materials is proposed and applied to predict the switching behavior of a two-dimensional ferroelectric ceramic. A complicated micro-structure existing in the material is modeled as il continuum body and a simple 3 node triangle finite element with nodal displacement and voltage degrees of freedom is used for a finite element analysis. The elements use nonlinear constitutive equations, switching criterion and kinetic relation, fur representation of material response at strong electric and stress fields. The polarization state of the material is represented by internal variables in each element, which are updated at each simulation step based on the proposed constitutive equations. The model reproduces strain and electric displacement hysteresis loops observed in the material.

  • In precision machinery industry, it's required with small size and low noise design to using in constant liquid delivery equipment. To accomplish it's purpose, we designed the check valve with rubber sheet of circle shapes as a possible assembly in pump body. The test equipment for piezoelectric pump was able to test pressure-flow property and output property of piezoelectric pump by variation(magnitude of voltage and frequency) of input power.

  • There are always some errors in force sensing of multi-axis force sensors that aggravate sensor performance. Error sources may be classified mainly in two groups. One is structural error due to inaccuracy of sensor body, and the other is error due to noise signals existing in the sensed information. This paper presents a brief review about the principle of multi-axis force sensors, and then a method that can reduce the effect of noise signals. The method is to read digital signals in computer instead of analog voltage signals. We can eliminate the bad effect of electromagnetic waves emitted from computer and of 60 Hz noise emitted from AC source by the proposed method. The proposed method is investigated through experimental demonstration. The experimental results show the proposed method improves the sensor performance significantly.

  • This paper describes the design and analyses of vibration driven electromagnetic energy harvester with high power generation which is suitable for supplying power generator from human body motion. The proposed harvester consists of magnet, coil, and SM (Soft magnetic Material). In order to generate more induced voltage, the SM to concentrate flux lines from end of magnetic poles was arranged into insert moving magnet. Each model was designed and analyzed by using ANSYS software to simulation. The maximum power is generated when load resistance of $1303\;{\Omega}$ is equal to coil resistance. The generated maximum power of for harvesters with SM is $677.85\;{\mu}W$ and 5.46 times higher than without SM at 6 Hz vibration frequency.

  • A new SOI NMOSFET with a 'LOCOS-like' shape self-aligned polysilicon gate formed on the recessed channel region has been fabricated by a mix-and-match technology. For the first time, a new scheme for implementing self-alignment in both source/drain and gate structure in recessed channel device fabrication was tried. Symmetric source/drain doping profile was obtained and highly symmetric electrical characteristics were observed. Drain current measured from 0.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ SOI devices with V\ulcorner of 0.77V and Tox=7.6nm is 360$mutextrm{A}$/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ at V\ulcorner\ulcorner=3.5V and V\ulcorner=2.5V. Improved breakdown characteristics were obtained and the BV\ulcorner\ulcorner\ulcorner(the drain voltage for 1 nA/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of I\ulcorner at V=\ulcorner\ulcorner=0V) of the device with L\ulcorner\ulcorner=0.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ under the floating body condition was as high as 3.7 V. Problems for the new scheme are also addressed and more advanced device structure based on the proposed scheme is proposed to solve the problems.

  • Recently, there are growing concerns about power frequency electric and magnetic fields coming out from the high voltage transmission lines, because of the wide spread perception of their probable harmful effect on human body. In connection with this trend, this paper describes the electric and magnetic fields measurement result around 154 kV and 345 kV transmission lines, a comparison of measured EMF to calculated one and the correlations between transmission lines currents and measured magnetic fields. Daily maximum and minimum magnetic field quantities under the selected 154 kV and 345 kV transmission lines had been measured for 1 year of 1997 and the average value of magnetic field exposure under the lines were calculated and presented based on the measured data.
